In this video I explain how to put on your crinoline (hoopskirt), also how to take the bones out to wash the fabric, how to use strings to adjust the fullness in the back of the skirt, and how to sit down in your crinoline (on the ground and on a chair).

I wore a short hoop skirt with a cosplay dress for the first time, so much fun and way cooler than layers of fabric. they really make a dress pop.
This made me giggle! I just bought a similar hoop skirt for a civil war ball and had no idea what I was doing!
I was honestly in tears for the 'jellyfish'
Amazing
Thank you! XD
Me too. I died laughing. XD
I wore one of these hoop skirts as a farthingale under my Renaissance gown. I got it super cheap at one of those quincinera shops in the garment district in downtown L.A.It looked perfect, and was super fun to wear (even if it did take up a lot of space sitting down on a bench to watch the joust, LOL.)
you are wearing backward, The proper way to wear a crinoline is that what you call the back is actually the front, and that is how you get this sort of bustle effect in the back , when you tie it in the front you keep the tie in the front.
That's how it was worn in the 17th and 18th century. And if you want to achieve the real 18th century look, you need to wear an actual bustle , or what is nowadays called a bumbag, underneath your crinoline
I also suggest the monobosom corset and the bustle if you want the perfect S shape silhouette .
Other than that i am impressed by how thin your waist is, , you look absolutely stunning in this corset like top.
I was noticing that as well
Thanks for this video. I know its old but its extremely helpful to my curosity about crinolines. I have to try it for myself in the future. and I love your corset.
aah fabulous!! im looking at buying pretty much exactly the same crinoline and its nice to actually see it on someone. And i had no idea how i was going to go about sitting in it hahaha! thanks this was so helpful!!
Thank you so much for making this video. I have to wear a hoop skirt in my school play, and this helped a lot.
I love the famed Jellyfish! :D It's nice to know that you are making videos about things that truly interest you :)
This is genuinely going to help me with my wedding look. Thank you 💖
the fullness in the back is usually obtainable by wearing a bum roll.......
Great tutorial! Thank you so much. Really helpful.
very very very very helpful video! thankyou soo much! i was so lost!
I have watched at least 50 of your videos. This is the one that helped me discover the channel in the first place, and I don't know if it is because it was the first I saw you or what but this is your most flattering waist.
Of course I find your channel when looking for cosplay inspiration on hoop skirts lol
Baby Lucy ❤️
OMG, I'm making an elliptic cage crinoline from Truly Victorian, and as I don't want to break it (it was quite expensive to have good material and it was a lot of sewing time) so you're tips are really useful! :D
The Hoopskirt Jellyfish never gets old.
Loooove the look a corset gives!!!
omg wow i have ordered 2peaces this one. im was scared about my dress but this video is like a sacrifice for me thank u im so excited.
Hurray! I'm glad the video helped. :)
Thanks for the video I have to wear one today I brought my own this year a 3 hooped one
Another option is an elliptical crinoline, which is flatter in the front and fuller in the back.
I have wanted to make my own, but I wondered how I could make it easier to sit down in one.
You make sitting in a crinoline look so elegant! I think I might go forth with making my own versions.
I have so far only made small sculptures out of wire.
I want to make a replica of a short Lolita cage crinoline sold by a brand called Fan Plus Friend.
They have amazing clothes and costumes, but they charge a lot because items are usually handmade or custom-made and shipping from Finland is expensive.
I love their corsets too, but they are unfortunately only fashion corsets with little support. XD
Do you happen to have any ballgowns to wear over that crinoline?
No matter how many times I see your hoopskirt jellyfish, it never gets old XD
You have such a happy spirit!
This was the very first video I ever saw of you
It looks so nice wow
This was very helpful! I am trying to do a Victorian costume and I was a bit upset my hoop skirt wasn't big enough in the back. Thank you so much this was so helpful!
Great and informative video! My wedding dress comes with a crinoline very similar to this one, and I'm so excited to wear it. But I was at a loss for how I would sit down. xD
Thanks for this video!! 🖤 Can you wear these under the corset? I am trying to diy a ball gown look with a corset, hoop skirt, and long tulle skirt and for aesthetic purposes I really wanted the corset on top 🖤
Thanks! I needed to know that! I'm doing a civil war reinactment- lots of hoops!!
Thank you for the tips.🙂I did'nt know how to sit on a crinoline
Thank you so much I needed this
I laughed so hard when you did 'The Famed Jellyfish'
Hey what would you put over it? Would you have top make your own or is there somewhere I can buy one?
Thanks...that was lovely.
Thank you so much for this video
I like the way it sweeps around
¿existe en anchura mayor? ¿dónde puedo comprar?
Hello,
Two things: First, I wanted to pop by and say thank you soooo much. My wedding dress requires a hoop skirt, and I had no idea how to maneuver in one, this has helped a lot.
Second: I know in the video you said that you can attach strings and tie them around your bum to help make the front stick out less, but I've tried it, and find it uncomfortable to move about it (and as I'll be wearing it all night at the wedding, I don't think it's the best option. My question is, would a bum roll help to position the skirts better? I thought it might, as when I lift on the material above my bum, the hoops all seem to migrate backwards, but I wanted to check with you and other commenters, before going through the trouble of making a roll.
Thanks so much!

Every woman should have a crinoline skirt / dress for a special occasion. Have fun ladies!
Hi there Lucy.. ive recently Brought a hoop skirt online 3 tyred hoop and could you tell me how to alter the hoop.. thank you sooo much
I almost choked on my drink when the famed jellyfish swum by! xD
Super helpful!
ur waistline is snatched!!! where u get ur corset?
This video is super interesting, Victorian fashion is so beautiful. One question though, instead of going through the trouble of sewing strings into the crinoline to get a flatter in the front bigger in the back look, why not just wear a crinolette or a bustle?
muy educativo gracias.....
I love your hoop skirts
That Jellyfish thing looks so fun! Ima have to get one xD
Idk why tf didn’t I come across with your Chanel before so informative beautiful and the link you put is cheap and looks good the one I bought is short and cost me e $30

well i was wondering what is better a hoop skirt or a pettie coat and i want it to Lift
it abit off the ground please help and i want it to be round and big!
Hello! Can I ask what corset you have on?
I want one of these skirts more now!
Loving the jelly fish! hahahaha
The "famed jellyfish" lol 😋👍🏽
Hello Lucy. Just a minor observation, for this hoop-skirt, if you just leave the drawstring opening toward your front instead of turning it toward the back, the skirt will be flatter on the front and more bell shaped in the back. I'm sure if you have the same trouble with other hoop skirts, you can apply the same technique. That way, you won't have to attach any strings to the front to give you the desired fullness in the back. :) I greatly enjoy your tutorials, btw. Great job. :)
Lucy boa tarde gostaria de saber o que é tem em volta do tecido que material é esse e onde consigo compra-lo
lovely, just lovely this is a really great video, not for me but for a play that i will be doing costumes for thank you :)
I love this video! :D Woohoo!

gr8 video love the outtakes lol makes me want to get one ^_^
Lucy, do you think you might do some reviews of different hoop skirts, crinolines, and/or petticoats and show how different ones look under different types of skirts?
Beautiful 😊 . Thank u for this information. thanks a lot . And you are so sweet. 😊
Very nice .. Can u make an video how to attach these strips.. Please..
Thank you so much.
I love the how to sit in a chair
Hello, do you know where I could find civil war dresses that would fit over that hoop skirt? Thank you :)
Thanks a lot ♥ (Oh and by the way I have to try so jumb with the crinoline on my shoulders someday too!)
hey, i have a question about the corset you are wearing. it looks lovely. where did you get yours for? i can only seem to find the shorter ones.
@bishonenrancher Thanks is there a certain kind or just any 6 ring one
I bought a 4 hoop hoopskirt and it is ~wonderful~. I gotta try the jellyfish. XD
Hey, so my question is: is there a difference between a crinoline and a hoop skirt because I've seen people talk of the 2 as if they were different but I don't see how the 2 differ from one another
qual o nome do material que usa para fazer o bambole porque ele é maleável.
Very imformative thank u
Does anyone know a good priced hoop skirt I can buy?
very informative video :D
I agree with Ortho, very clever. If I had a hoop skirt, I fashion it into a metroid costume and use blacklights
Plactic clip kit na meter laga ga 8round ma please help me
Im trying to buy a crinoline for my sweet 16 party, but ive never bought one before. What would you suggest i look for? Also what should the boning be made of?
Where to buy this hoop petticoat?
oh u r already explained about it .thank u.then is there any wedding dress petticoats without hoops and able 2 sit freely
Yes, but they will not be as voluminous, and to create the fluff you'll need many layers of tulle, which quickly gets hot and stuffy. Using a hoop skirt is more lightweight, cooler, and you can get more dramatic silhouettes than using 20 layers of tulle, but those other skirts are still available on Ebay.
i got a doubt plz reply me.if we wear that thing are we able to sit or not.what are the material inside the petticoat for the hoops?
I can't answer your other question but crinoline is very easy to sit in, fold, go to the bathroom in, and even drive in. Metal boning sounds scary but it's actually very flexible.
I just got my first Hoopskirt for my Princess Peach cosplay and the first thing I did was the Jellyfish. Then, I put it on ^^.
I'd enjoy wearing this hoop petticoat.
Hi there, I have a very large but lovely hoop for my wedding gown, but it is too long! Is there any suggested way to shorten it? Thanks!
I was wondering if it was a bad idea or not to wear an A line hoop skirt under a petticoat. I want fullness but I just don't want a very large ring at the bottom and the main effort of the hoop skirt for me is to carry some of the weight of the dress, protect my legs from the june florida heat, and to move smoothly. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Lucy! I was just wondering if you have an idea for something simple to wear over it so the bones don't show through my skirt? :)
I would try a lightweight tulle petticoat, which adds a fluffy layer over the bones of the hoopskirt but under your final dress.
Hello, I would like to know that I can use other material for the sides and with that one. Here in Argentina, the "whales" of plastic that are used to give the corset rigides, not suitable for crinolines. I would appreciate your advice.
I want to use a 50 poodle skirt and I need a corset where can I find a similar Tanks!!!
Did you say hoop skirts are really "cheap" or "chic"? I certainly don't think they're cheap!
Also, I love that you posted this video--Ive been working on corsets and currently a hoop skirt so this is very helpful! Thank you.
+Raul Flores I got this 6-hoop skirt from Ebay for only $16 USD. :) I consider it pretty cheap.
Good to know, thanks!!
Excuse me, I'm really new to crinolines and really need it for a dress I want to make. Is there any difference between 3-hoop skirts and 6-hoop skirts? Like, is one more comfortable then the other? Thank you.
Maybe I missed it, but where did you get your hoop skirt? Or did you make it?
Nice where would they sell those?
thanks for the tips :3
What's the name of that upper body thing you are wearing with strings on back, name please
+Samia Adnan Khan It's a corset, I'm wearing this one:

A corset... But she looks like she is suffocating.
Thanks mam..... thank you so much...... Please share how to hoops connected video? please mam I am waiting ur video.....
what is the difference between 3 or 6 hoop skirts, does it make a visual difference on a dress, what do you suggest is best??? BTW...awesome video, thanks!
Thaaaaanks.
I love this! You made me go order one.. but now, uhm.. How much fabric would you need to sew a skirt fitting it? I suck at estimating stuff like that, my hoop skirt has the same measurements as yours.. how much fabric would you buy? Thank you! :)
I'd probably say around 10 meters of fabric for the skirt, maybe as much as 15 meters if you're working with a fabric that has a directional print or nap.
Thank you so much! You are such an inspiration, I love your knowledge and the way you share it. And you are very beautiful! Keep up the good work!
How did you get your corsette on tight enough to look that thin???
Hello, I was actually wondering how to use the restroom while in a hoopskirt? I'm getting married in a few months, and my gown is a full ball gown with 2 hoops. Any suggestions? Love your channel!
does the crinoline have to be cotton to swoop around your body?
