A beautiful exchange. I am 70 years old/young, trained for most of my life in a variety of different styles; mainly Karate, Wu-Shu, Arnis, Boxing and a bit of Muay Thai. My thirst for learning and daily practice will continue to my last day. Learned much from both of you young men today. One thing I have always found in my journey through the martial arts, is how respectful we all are of each other....something that is sadly dying in this new world... I feel martial arts sometimes, is one of the last bastions of respect and honour... thanks Jesse and wondeboy for a cool video.
Wow! I love this video! I didn't want it to end.. The chemistry between these 2 gentlemen is awesome, reminds me of my younger self meeting other "brother's of the Arts" and just talk, compare notes, and bond over something we both love n' have a passion for.. They both sound so humble, true/real. Tells you alot about a person.. They both show the discipline, power, and beauty of Karate when they speak, even their body language. My Grandfather taught me Kali when I was younger, I learned Muay Thai n' Shotokan here in the U.S..
This is an amazing video, literally showing practical bunkai tried and tested in MMA. Karate is powerful when one understands that traditional techniques are the amazing foundation needed as Karatekas. It's because of his in-depth Karate understanding that Stephen is able to modify his techniques and "make karate great again!" 😁
The whole disguise with constant movement is exactly what you do in fencing too. It's very easy to see an attack if someone tries to stab with from stationary. It's much harder for the opponent to figure out a setup from an attack if you're darting back and forth slightly.
It's the second time I watch this and I realize that I'm smiling all along. You both are so passionnate and positive it makes your viewers feel good. Your are both real wonderguys.
This video is an amazing and inspirational thing, even beyond your usual content. Seeing 2 people both showing so much respect for each other, both excited to learn from each other, but also both excited to share knowledge you've gained from other sources, is so amazing to me. You're showing such a great balance of knowing you have value to contribute while also knowing that you have things to learn from each other.
I loved this video! I feel like the movements he was talking about have almost a TKD feel to them without the stance switching. The kick variables also give me the same thoughts. Especially the leg lift and backward movement into side movement. What a great way to showcase karate in the MMA world, thank you for this video.
American Karate basically is Taekwondo for all intensive purposes (as in it was brought over by Koreans who knew TKD and labelled it Karate because people didn't really know TKD at the time). That and sports Karate and sports TKD are pretty similar in general.
Watching these drills validated so much of what I and others were doing in ISKA. Especially the kizami geri side kicks and the side kick technique at 23:28. I remember very vividly still getting rushed at the hand drop in one match and about to lose until I stepped back and got the little bit of a side kick in. Just like a sword, they impaled themselves, got winded, and the dynamic of that match changed.
Two great guys in their own right. Enjoying the love of martial arts. Exchanging techniques open and honest, no egos at all. I really like to see something like that. Much respect.
I follow both of these guys and love their stuff - practical and therefore useful. One of my International Instructors from Australia recommended 'Wonderboy' to his students when he conducts seminars - and he's awesome as well
This is so cool! I love traditional martial arts and it is so great to be able to validate that those concepts are still working in modern martial arts. As a Wing Chun practitioner, and a Jiu Jitsu practitioner, I see a LOT of commonalities. Frames in jiu jitsu are basically Wing Chun Bong Sau. The center line concept is essentially the same between Wing Chun and Jiu Jitsu. The horse stance in Wing Chun translates very well to the body posture in jiu jitsu on the ground! Also for the record, my first foray into martial arts was 4 years of Uechi Ryu!
What a nice video. Two humble and respectful men. This is how you should treat each other in and outside the gym. True real sportsmen with high knowledge and love for their martial arts
So great this Episode. I didn't know that Wonderboy is so nice and humble, and so down at the earth. His kicks reminds me on Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, and also on Bruce Lee . Watch please the series Longstreet where Bruce teaches the kicks. The distance closing. Same princip.
he can make it work in mma because he practice's it so much and is so good at that specific art form, just like Bruce Lee said he not afraid of the man who knows 1000 kicks but the man who knows one kick and has practiced it 1000 times. 🙏
Wow! Such a great video!! Both Wonderboy and Sensei Jesse are so respectful to each other and so willing to share and learn from each other. I enjoyed the cool editing in the beginning to attract attention, but then how you just let the lesson play so we could really absorb the knowledge shared.

Awesome video. Stephen and his family are great people. I love that they're such big fans of yours.
I love the moment they realise Jesse is not just a nice karate RUclipsr with a nice smile - he has the knowledge and power to back it up. Sometimes, because he's so humble, they don't realise until they're in contact demonstrating a move, and you can see in their face a sudden realisation that this guy's not just some soft RUclipsr, he has the knowledge, power and awareness to make you take a metal step back 😳. @~13:45
When Wonderboy squares up to throw more punches he should definitely throw some front kicks
Wow Jessie and Wonderboy. That was an awesome collaboration. Thank you for sharing some useful knowledge and expertise. I just received my Junior Black Belt last night after two days of a belt test, and I plan on honoring you by practicing some of the techniques you shared in future sparring matches at our dojo. You two are absolutely making karate cool for everyone. Thank you! 🙏☺️⛩❤️
This was amazing.
Modified Wonderboy Karate looks like ITF Taekwon-Do Style.
9:35 the holy trinity of karate on YT! Just need Yusuke to complete the group. Love watching you guys to supplement my karate training. Keep it up!
That would be amazing
The whole disguise with constant movement is exactly what you do in fencing too. It's very easy to see an attack if someone tries to stab with from stationary. It's much harder for the opponent to figure out a setup from an attack if you're darting back and forth slightly.
It's the second time I watch this and I realize that I'm smiling all along. You both are so passionnate and positive it makes your viewers feel good. Your are both real wonderguys.
2 great ambassadors for the sport, the tradition, the community that is martial arts!
Man, I just love Wonder Boy's attitude. There's always something to learn. Shoshin mentality. Awesome content Jesse sensei.
@@AveSicarius More like Karate with hands and takedowns
Watching these drills validated so much of what I and others were doing in ISKA. Especially the kizami geri side kicks and the side kick technique at 23:28. I remember very vividly still getting rushed at the hand drop in one match and about to lose until I stepped back and got the little bit of a side kick in. Just like a sword, they impaled themselves, got winded, and the dynamic of that match changed.
Two great guys in their own right. Enjoying the love of martial arts. Exchanging techniques open and honest, no egos at all.
I really like to see something like that.
Much respect.
Thanks a lot! 🙏
Wonderboy really deserves that NMF belt! Such a nice guy, down to earth. Perfect teacher.
Damn they are so respectful to one another. Humble dudes.
What a nice video. Two humble and respectful men. This is how you should treat each other in and outside the gym. True real sportsmen with high knowledge and love for their martial arts
I appreciate that!
All the kicking stuff he talked about was pretty similar to what is taught in my taekwondo classes! 😄
Because Taekwondo took inspiration from Shotokan if I am not mistaking
I've been waiting for this! Thanks Jesse, take care and of course, rooting for Wonderboy tonight!
he can make it work in mma because he practice's it so much and is so good at that specific art form, just like Bruce Lee said he not afraid of the man who knows 1000 kicks but the man who knows one kick and has practiced it 1000 times. 🙏
What a loving, wonderful and humble guy! That would be a teacher I would love to learn from
Wow, this is so much fun to watch even for a non karate nerd.. Stephen seems like such a good dude 🤗. Riktigt bra video! 👊
Wow! Such a great video!! Both Wonderboy and Sensei Jesse are so respectful to each other and so willing to share and learn from each other. I enjoyed the cool editing in the beginning to attract attention, but then how you just let the lesson play so we could really absorb the knowledge shared.
A really great video with 2 incredibly talented karate-ka. Thanks for this. Wonderboy seems like an incredibly humble young man.
Excellent analogy/technique about picking up the foot first. Don the Dragon Wilson had an excellent side kick in Kick boxing.
Mr. Machida is truly a Genuine Karate Practitioner and a Real Role Model as a Martial Artist. Thank you Jessie for this video.
this is a video of two very humble and incredibly intelligent guys. Great stuff!
Thank you for making this video.
Wonderboy is always my whole time favorite fighter.
Respect, love, and peace
Really great vibe here! I’m not a “karate guy” but this was super! Changing minds about karate🥋
I’d watch these two for hours. Love the vibe. Perfect martial arts exchange
Both are so humble and knowledgeable. I could listen to them all day.
