Now that is " Real Steel". I love that when sitting at an idle there is no detectable vibration in the mirrors. They truly don't make em like they used to. Awesome.
Wow... what a nice ride ! One of the best "Riding videos" that I've ever seen. Turn the sound up, go into fullscreen, sit back and enjoy... Thank you Mr. Otsuka and greetings from germany.
Incredible...gives me the sound of those old knuckleheads...the way they would have sounded 71 years ago. It can still hold its own in traffic. Love watching the gear shifting and seeing the springer move up and down. Great!
@SarkyBegger what? You are reading way to much into this, and ASMR has been around sence at least 2011 so it isnt new at all. I also don't know what you mean by "self imposed overly regulated lives", I dont think that many young people are lost and living meaningless lives. I can only assume that you are a sad person past your prime so you take out your frustrations and failures in life on people younger than you.
I love these videos, I am a disabled veteran and former rider. These videos bring back fond memories of my days in the wind! Thank you! Keep up the good work!
Mr. Otsuka. You are living one of my dreams, to own and ride a pre-war EL. Greetings from the state of Iowa, USA. Come for a visit sometime and we will go ride. P.S. I like the way riders in Japan get the old iron out and ride them, you have my respect. Cheers!
you can buy a complete kit from V TWIN..or you used to be able to ,it costs about as much as a new Harley and you have to assemble it your self..its a running replica..I knew a guy that built one for his shop on display it was very cool!
Sweet! Enjoyed the Ride Along! Just wished you'd walked around the bike when you got off of it and give us a visual. Next best thing to being there! Do some more ride-alongs!
Beafitul, just beatiful, and the best is the music coming out of the mufflers. I only watch motorcycle rides with engine sound, the ones with all types of music are skipped. When is video 2 coming up ?
LOL it needs a lot more maintenance than any new HD and only runs about 65 MPH on its best day. I love classic stuff though but its not a daily rider. My 09 Dyna just starts and goes day in and day out. easily runs 135 MPH too. That Knuck is 61 inches. My dyna is 96 inches. EFI VS a carb. Reliable VS ya gotta maintain it more. I can make that knuck a daily rider but ya gotta keep it up maintain it. I have 3 panheads and 2 shovelheads and 3 iron sportsters. I love classic bikes buy my oh so modern Twin Cam is better!
Amazing how the Harleys kept their DNA, this bike doesn’t feel different from a current Harley, at least with the Evo engine. Fantastic that this bike can ride safely at normal traffic pace on today’s roads, thank you for sharing!
Well speed Limits are pretty low in japan compared to other countries. The expressway speed limit is 80-100kmh so about 50-60 mph, some straight two lane roads mostly outside of cities and some main traffic routes are 50kmh (30mph), but most normal roads in and around cities are 30-40kmh (20-25mph). To be honest, that’s the reason I bought myself a Harley here. You have all the power you need to have a good time on the road, but when you twist the noise tube you don’t get locked up in jail in an instant. Does not mean they can’t go fast, but a relaxed speed is somehow preferred by me when I sit on a Harley. Mine is not quite as old as the one in this Video tho „2012 FXS 96ci“ and the sound differs a lot between a twin cam and a knuckle head. I still love it tho ✌️
KuruMoto i agree. Compared to most motorbikes which need to be driven at illegal speeds to procure excitement, Harleys offer an interesting experience even at legal speeds
I believe on a old Harley like this you gotta let off the throttle every once in a while. If you wot all the way you might blow the engine, letting off the throttle allows oil to circulate and lubricate the engine once it has made its cycle. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m also working on my first bike, a 1964 xlh 900 can’t wait to finish and ride that thing. It’s a chopper. Greetings from Austin tx.
bike is all beat up and rusted but its a beaut. Gear system is a stick , wide handle, simply superb. wish they manufacture such retro bikes in this era using the same hardware , same design from the 40s, it has an ww2 old world charm to it.
Takes me back. My first Harley was a 39 Knuck EL that I bought in 1970. Mine was a three speed with reverse cause the original owner had a sidecar on it. I was the second owner but I didn't get the sidecar. He'd already sold it before I bought the bike. Sure wish I still had it.
This is one of the best bike videos I've ever seen. No music no yakking just a wonderful sound from those pipes! Now that's music to your ears. Scenery could have been a little better but I'm not complaining!

Hey my dad hasn’t taken out his 86 heritage in 2 years it’s good to see him riding again
Love seeing classics on the road being ridden.
Agreed. Putting them in a garage to be looked at is a waste. Classics need their story told.
My dad had a 39 harley when he started dating my mother god they must have been so cool riding around on it in 1956
❤
Now that is " Real Steel". I love that when sitting at an idle there is no detectable vibration in the mirrors. They truly don't make em like they used to. Awesome.
Great riding video! Beautiful bike!
Seems to ride really smooth, must be that Springer front end.
Thomas Kirkpatrick actually looks pretty rough, it’s just the gimbal smoothing out the video
What if I told you that its got no rear suspension and springers are notoriously bouncy?
I know its a hard tail, I know springers bounce, ever hear of sarcasm?
This is Japan, they do roads better there than Harley's native country does currently.
+some warping from digital stabilization
i love old harley davidson engine. damn love from singapore.

Very nice all 👍😎🌈
I thought the oil pumps from back then could barely handle 55mph... must have been upgraded?
cool bikes
So, foot clutch I assume. But what's does the left lever on the handlebars do? Front brake?
It's like a "choke" for cold starts. That's what I read.
Just curious how fast were u going on the highway
Trukerinfulleffect speedo says 65 ish 70
+Leadfoot2112 actually it is reading 55 -60. If it was 70 it would be in the 1 o'clock to 2 o'clock position.
Wow... what a nice ride !

The sound of the engine pure enjoyment to my ears.

Would have been nice to get a proper look at the bike at the end of the video...
The engine and the gears sounds so smouth though.
Somebody loves and maintains this baby.... lovely sound.....
A good walk around would’ve been good.
@@catdaddy3302 I was wishing for that also.
shut up
The sound of a Harley purring down the road, whether a 1938 or 2020 - noting like it like others said, relaxing and hypnotic.
I love these videos, I am a disabled veteran and former rider. These videos bring back fond memories of my days in the wind! Thank you! Keep up the good work!

You've captured the sound of the bike very well. Nice patina, original paint and chrome.
Am besten Harley! Wow! Total Old School! Respect!
Mr. Otsuka. You are living one of my dreams, to own and ride a pre-war EL. Greetings from the state of Iowa, USA. Come for a visit sometime and we will go ride. P.S. I like the way riders in Japan get the old iron out and ride them, you have my respect. Cheers!
Fantastic video, the camera position is perfect. Not anyone else who has filmed from that position.
Now that's a REAL Harley. Nice patina too !
Hott-Dogg...Real bike riding for sure.
It's like riding in fantasy. Those classics are legends.
No good video shot of the bike itself? WTF?!
Aw, c'mon, SHIFT DAMMIT, SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT! NEXT GEAR, SHIFT SHITSHftshftshft...UH?..
very cool.
This is why I love Motörhead : same sound as the Harley engine.
Wow. Inspite of being so old, it's going very smoothly.
Love that sound… you need more open road, get away from those commuters!
Its Japan. Very very few open roads without cars on them.
Blue skies green lights that's music to my ears. What a ride.
Beautiful, if you ever want some YEN for that, let me know
HuntingHarleys 😂😂😂
HuntingHarleys he is never going to sell it haha
Lmao YEN
Lol japanese money

Oh that sound, a lullaby for grown men, so relaxing;)
What a fantastic machine! Sure don't build them like that anymore. Loved the video!
they do, it just cost 50 grand...
Rick Bernst your right. they do not build them like that anymore. if you want it the way they used to build them you got to buy them pre 1969
you can buy a complete kit from V TWIN..or you used to be able to ,it costs about as much as a new Harley and you have to assemble it your self..its a running replica..I knew a guy that built one for his shop on display it was very cool!
YES, AGREE ALL THE WAY. I KEEP WONDERING IF I'LL EVER GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO RIDE ONE.
What a sweet running time machine, i will take this over any shiny modern poser bike!
Wonderful machine!
I like the way he sped up and passed the other riders...kind of showing off...nice! "Hey, look what I"m riding!"
THX for your Video, no speech no music pure sound :-) wonderful original bike.
You can also obay the speed limit, the speedometer is working !
Nothing has changed the 2020 models are just the same
is that such a 'bad' thing ? LoL
are u blind?
I wish,. nothing beats a knuckle
Sweet! Enjoyed the Ride Along! Just wished you'd walked around the bike when you got off of it and give us a visual. Next best thing to being there! Do some more ride-alongs!
Hello Mr. Otsuka. We would love to use part of your video footage in a documentary. Is this possible?
I finally got to ride a 39 Knuckle, thank's man...
Beafitul, just beatiful, and the best is the music coming out of the mufflers. I only watch motorcycle rides with engine sound, the ones with all types of music are skipped. When is video 2 coming up ?
It's awesome, this rusty speedometer, headlight and everything. I'm excited.
Very Nice!
Look closely at the shift gate: neutral is between 2 and 3 (not 1 and 2), only used 1939.
I was wondering, how the fuck does he set the 1 gear? Dosen't it have a clutch lever? Btw, I'm brazilian, we never got those.
You could tell it was going to be an awesome video the second he pulled out those gloves.
True, that was a good sign.
And THIS is why Harley has a cult-like following.
Perfect exhaust notes on those vintage H-D motos. Bushido Code - Hai!
How can one NOT like this little video?! Thanks for bringing us along!
Реально байк для хайвеев. 4ю врубил и погнал, в Москве умумукаешься щёлкать рычагом
I'm liking the gloves.
Thank you , I enjoyed the ride🤠
Born to ride ride to live 👍👍👍👍🇷🇸
Love it man!! I prefer this baby over any of the newer HD specially, the 2018

absolutely stunning, probably as close as i will ever get to riding my dream bike, thank you so much for sharing this video!
Ride a 1997 Sportster XL883 with Cycle Shack pipes. She will sound just like this. :')
what a great bike. love the shifter!! and foot clutch!

Thanks for taking me on the ride, brother! Now, it's out to the shop to work on my 47FL / 51 sidecar.
That brought tears to my eyes

vincent beijing if you want to hear the difference, I got my first Video uploaded which is similar to this one but with a bit more modern Harley
I was expecting to see the witch from the wizard of oz pass him on her bicycle. These bikes are beautiful not fast.
The guys in the 1930's had it great, this is a great piece of history, love it🙏💜
No therapist could ever match this !!!
13 minutes and it felt like I was riding it all along, love the sound
donde es eso, las motos por la izquierda y coches por la derecha??? muy bueno. LA HARLEYS MUY BUENA

For a Springer and a rigid frame your camera was very steady
Michael Smith video stabilisation was added by the looks of it!
Now that's a biker.

Show yourself in the video both full front and backsides in your leathers 👎👎👎👎👎

In Tennessee we call that a suicide clutch. Wasn't 1939 Harley a flathead motor?
i love how you left it antique looking
Finally a Harley I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen on.
Dats ahhhhh real bike NOT LIKE THE PLASTIC JUNK THEY MAKE TODAY. 😳😜
My great grandfather owned one of these brand new in 1939. Thank you for the video, I can now imagine what it would have been like to ride with him
That bike should not be road on a regular basis, it's just to much to loose if it gets crashed out, what a PRIZE
Like way you ride
Nice machine. You don't need a tachometer when an engine makes peak torque at 2000 to 3000 rpm.
Do you have any nice twisties up in the hills / out in the countryside? Highway riding is boring as s**t.
Would have been nice to get a proper look at the bike at the end of the video...
Vers nice, but you shouldn't ride on the the Highway. This is not the right area for a bike like this.
That is so fuckn sweet!!! That motorcycle had to be thousands of dollars
Nice one my friend in Australia has an original knuckle 1000cc same colour and year
