  • How to test the Convergent Validity and Discriminant Validity of the SEM Model?
In this video, I have explained how to conduct Construct validity for the Measurement Model in the Structural Equation Model.
The construct validity is two types 1. Convergent validity 2. Discriminant validity
    Convergent validity:
measures of constructs that theoretically should be related to each other are, in fact, observed to be related to each other
    Discriminant Validity:
measures of constructs that theoretically should not be related to each other are, in fact, observed to not be related to each other

You are the best sir. I really benefit from your videos.
may I ask about another method to figure out the construct validity by combining some latent factors then comparing between their fit index?
    like:
    Seven-factor model
    Six-factor model
    five-factor model
four-factor model ... etc, then comparing between their fit index
I don't know the name of this idea. I need to know it and apply it to my paper, please anyone knows about it?

If the composite reliability is greater than 0.6 and AVE is below 0.5 and greater than 0.4 then this is acceptable according to Fornell and Larcker if AVE is less than 0.5,
but composite reliability is higher than 0.6, the convergent validity of the construct is still adequate (Fornell & Larcker, 1981).

    Dear My Easy Statistics,
I have a question. I have established a model with good model fit, good discriminant validity, but unfortunately for 2 variables, AVE is not above 0.5, but slighly below (so from what I understand it does not fulfill convergent validity). How bad is that? Can I still continue with that (if there are no real other options)? Best wishes, Vivian
