You know reading so much respect for each others forces is great... I'd like to share something if I may. During WW2 a german bomb exploded hitting a HUGE oil reserve in my home town of Falmouth in Cornwall, there was a river of fuel heading towards so many of our homes and after the first few started to burn just before dawn when it looked nothing was going to stop this river of fuel, almost 500 US army and navy turned up to help the locals stem the river of flames from destroying the seventy or eighty homes. The other night I found the actual footage of how they fought to save my mothers and grandmothers home that day. That'll never happen because our government can't afford it. We sold everything to the Indians and the Chinese when that bitch Thatcher was in power. GeneralBroughton Too bad the only thing they are changing is the Navy uniforms, though talks of an Army change is in the works I hear. I actually kind of liked the Navy's Black and Blue look. But the digital... I cannot stand the freaking digital. You tell me, where in nature do those patterns appear?
I was in the 82nd, and apparently I missed the coolest training exercise in the history of this country. What a great experience as usually you only train to fight an ambush, not an organized foe.
I'm a British Paratrooper of the 1980s and 1990s. I worked with "All American" and West German Brethren. In 1991 our Polish brothers jumped with us during a commemoration jump at Arnhem. We each do things differently - but that doesn't mean better or worse - except for gov funding and limitations. For example, in FIBUA (street fighting), US troops FILL captured buildings with troops. We don't have the numbers so we have to employ different tactics that work better for our numbers and equipment. The M16/M4 can be fired from either shoulder as we used to do with our SLRs. Can't do that with the SA80. Lots of adaptations. The devil is in the detail. Sure we'd shoot the shit with our 82nd AB pals - but there was respect. The WAAL crossing (Op Market-Garden) of the 504th PIR (82nd AB Div) says it all about the spirit of the international Airborne brotherhood. I'm guessing that the people posting "my army is better than yours" aren't in the military. Or are craphat "REMFs", if so... ;-) Alpha, Alpha, Tango, Whiskey...
I don't think there is a more impressive display of military power than a mass airborne deployment, by any nation. Just seeing all those men and their equipment raining out of the skies must have a huge psychological effect on an enemy.
In my long experience, I found that the US forces had fine NCOs, especially senior NCOs, but the officers were arrogant and poorly trained. In the British Army the officers took far more notice of advice "offered" by Warrant Officers. (Although amongst their ranks, arrogant officers were hardly a rarity).
As a Briton with friends and family in the UK military how much the US in general worships their soldiers and treats them as royalty. The British government treat our troops and service men and women like shit.
You can't say that about a nation you don't live in nor have served for. And if you haven't served for the UK either, then you wouldn't know the extent the people and the government of both countries go to
Governments generally treat their soldiers with the bare minimum of respect to keep them loyal and the electorate placid. So long as you keep shooting in the right direction they couldn't care less what happens to you. Pay is enough to draw in new recruits, but barely enough to live on. Equipment is sourced from the lowest possible bidder while still remaining relatively functional. Make no mistake, to the average politician you're nothing more than a number on a sheet of paper. So long as the "KIA" number stays below the "active" number, they couldn't give two shits.
@@Skippy19812 the exact reason why I refused to join any of the forces every time my family would try to convince me. I believe I would do well in the military. It would definitely benefit a career and I could learn a great deal. But I point blank refuse to potentially lay down my life for a government that has done nothing for me and especially, nothing for my family through some very difficult times.
hi,I'm a brit,my cousins in the parachute regiment, hes Just came back from a training exercise with American airbourne,he's got nothing but praise for the yanks,he said there top guys&extremely well trained, best allies to have
Britain brings the strictest and most well drilled troops and training in the world and the US has the manpower, technology and capital to create the most powerful military force
soflo23 I disagree with you saying the US have the best training , I doubt half of US paratroopers could pass through British parachute regiment training
Just because you watched a bunch of RUclips videos doesn't mean you know shit about either countries training unless you've actually been through it!! If you have been through one countries you haven't been through both so you still should keep your mouths shut!! Our countries are allies, they both train with each other!!!!
So proud that our countries are able to work together! I wish you'd all stop arguing about who's better because these are two different types of marines! The British marines are special forces and the Americans aren't! Yes one has more training and the other has more soldiers, we are on the same side and let's be glad that they work together!
I'm from the US and have common sense that the british paras are well above american paras huge respects to both though, not sure why so many people get mad over this.
@@matthewr.6072 it just the truth the british paras have longer more intense training in fact its not even comparable the paras are one of the top regiments in the british army and are shock troops commonly working along side special forces its not a fair comparison. i know it hurts your feelings when someone says american isn't the best at something. im sure there are other regiments in the us army who compare to the paras the 82nd air bourne don't though. not that they are bad troops just they are a much larger force trained for a specific purpose
@@matthewr.6072 any way the uk and the us are allies it doesn't matter whos better i just feel sorry for the people who have to fight both these two working together
Both are excellent armed forces and allies but if they were fighting each other i think the British parachute regiment would win if you notice they are far more equipped for the longer fight look at the webbing and look how aggressive the British are.
when under enemy fire there is no other force i would want on my shoulder but these well trained US forces, we train more or less the same so in the Theatre of conflict we all know what and where the back up is, i don't think there are any other allied force's in the world that gel like UK and USA long may the union prevail, and that's from a ten year vet from 3 para
I’m a proud American and as such we are lucky to be trained by the British paratroopers. The best In the world hands down. Here in Seattle/Tacoma we have many military bases including JBLM, Navy with several aircraft carriers, Trident submarines and the soldiers here brag about training with the Brits in the Midwest. Brits, Canadians, Australians - our best friends in the world.

I was in the Paras (2 para) that's uk btw) for ten hard years, we are allies. This isn't a who is best vid. Who cares? Other than the enemy and doubtless we will ever be on opposite sides. We share tactics we, we learn from each other and conquer those against us. I loved my times with the US troops,. I made many life long friends through combat side by side with brothers in arms, who I still talk to as much as my mates here. When your clocking rounds over your head next to another man, trust me, you'll love em forever. I will though envy the shear amount of rounds they can put down, it's limitless. Under fire too, every yank I fought with stood their patch and for their men.
I wish they had some of us Canucks in there ... was nice seeing some of the groups i spent time with doing their thing ... but still wish some of canucks were there to ;)
Enjoyed setting the training IEDs and assisting OPFOR during this exercise. The British Para regiment are a good bunch of soldiers and paratroopers. AATW!
Guys, don;t forget the Canucks, Aussies, and Kiwis. All also on the same side and cut from the same cloth. I served for ten years with the Brits including in 5 AB Bde. Have served in the Canadian Army ever since. Both very good.
We are the heaviest infantry in the world... expected to fight longer and harder with more independence and smaller numbers - Colonial type setup with emphasis on having the best trained infantry which = versatility. The wealth of doctrines, skill, robustness, pride and character in the British infantry is unmatched.
All I'm saying is the British train a massive percentage of other forces INCLUDING the U.S, although the history puts great in Britain, we are still one of the reliable powers of today, we might not have numbers; however we make up for it in tech and skills. I guarantee if we had the same man power as the USA or China we would still run half the world!
+brandon curl "Great" in the name "Great Britain" simply means "big" in geographic terms, because the island of "Great Britain" (comprising England, Scotland, and Wales) is the largest of the British Isles. It doesn't mean "great" as in marvelous or wonderful...
+blueyognog Don't be childish. I'm saying that "Great" doesn't mean "Wonderful". It is simply a geographic term. Too complicated for you to understand...?
British don't train U.S Troops. It's called cross training. If anything the U.S trains more of other countries military. and why do I say that? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ the U.S Army alone has more training schools and schools in General that they offer. I can promise you this. if I gave you a list of information about joining but didn't tell you which country I was talking about you would pick the U.S military every time to join. simply on what they offer you.
Watched a TV political thing where a British pol was making speeches about how we'd always supported our oldest ally, the United States. Was glad to see that several reporters put up their hands and one asked if Portugal and Britain were to agree on any new projects. The pol was struck dumb that the lower orders had more knowledge than he'd presented them with that day. It's always gratifying to see one of those creatures get frightened when his ignorance is shown to the entire audience and country. Yes: Portugal has been a British ally for centuries, the US only since 1942 or thereabouts. Anyway: good vid and I hope that there are many opportunities for further idea-sharing in the future. It prevents stagnation, and is good for all involved.
I spent almost three decades in the Army and the first 11+ on jump status. I am Master Rated and also have a CIB that was awarded to me while assigned to C 1/505 PIR. There are two things that I really miss now that I am retired, and they are closely interrelated: the guys and the jumping. There is a HUGE difference between being Airborne qualified and being a Paratrooper. The first only takes three weeks at Ft Benning. The second requires living the life and getting that mental attitude that remains with you even after you no longer are on jump status.
fantastic vid....lots of respect to our American allies and nice to see no comments on who is better etc...bet the paras found a local boozer and went on the piss afterwards though
For over 100 years our boys and girls have been fighting side by side. Yes there is rivalry but imagine the world without ours and the US forces. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
There will never be a better Army than the British. We don't need size, We don't need technology. We do it with skill and determination. We can be both a fierce fighting force or the best humanitarian assistance group there is.

The septics were loud, brash and took the piss out of our A2s but they are fucking ferocious in battle, seen it first hand, would never want a better Us regiment with me than the screaming eagles, rendezvous with destiny boys!
To all those who claims the Swedes shouldnt been in Afghanistan for being poor and lousy soldiers! I get sick by these thoughtless comments! We did as good job in Mazar e Sharif as any other battalion! My 2 best friends died over there so its the utter most disgusting disrespect to suggest we where lambs on the way to slaughter! Our SAS the SOG is created by the SAS and a spitting image in selection and training and moral. One SAS colonel said we where easier to conduct joint operations with than the SEALS , The Germans KSK etc! We have done several joint operation since Afghanistan!
dam i miss those days. well done to both the 82nd guys and the Brits para regiment. you guys are looking good in those training exercices. god help the fools who take on these guys.
This comments section can be summed up into two groups, those that are saying (insert name here) is better and have never served and are probably fourteen years old and those who have/are serving who couldn't care less because they have enough brain cells we to realise we are the closest allies in the world.
its great to see other countries coming to the US for training. we do have the resources, budget, weapons, and the best facilties. But it seems American troops don't go to the UK for lengthy training. im wondering its because UK doesn't have the training facilities or resources as in America. This stemming from the fact UK doean't have the same defense budget as America nor do their politicians support their troops as they do in the US. If that's the case Kama then what a shame. You have Britt soldiers and marines who want to fight for their country, yet their politicians don't give a damn about them.
Its because we already have everything here in the US. We can train in any type of terrain since we're a big country. Other countries don't have the variations of terrain therefor, them coming to the US.
+The Great One not really true in this case because they're training in a field, the reason countries such as the USA and UK train together is so that they can implement new tactics and teachings gained from the other country into their own training
You should understand that the UK is small. it is around the same size as the state of Oregon. We do not have anywhere like Alaska or Arizona with regard to extremes of temperature and climate. That is why we sometimes train in Canada.
I was with the Irish in Iraq...served along Side the Americans from the big red one . Proud to have served with so many Brothers in Arms. Good Days Brothers ....good Days.
Both Armies have different fighting doctrines but both train for scenarios where the forces are combined and fighting together as one unit even the navies have have a unified system where either can slot right in
The size argument is not credible, you would not use the whole us marines to fight. It depends on training as well. If size mattered then china has the best army in the world it does not. Same as the us navy could not send 272 of its ships to the uk to attack. it probably would have build more do so. Do not forget the uk has the biggest navy and army in the revolution but had to hold allot them back to fight off France. Same if it was reserved. UK would have more quality troops and equipment on its door step the us would not. Also you would have to factor in uk allies like france etc, just like in the american revolution etc.
Do you remember the old guys being interviewed on Band of Brothers. "We fought the Germans. We fought the navy. We fought the marines. When nobody else was around we fought each other". 101st and 82nd. Can't imagine too many would choose either as an enemy.
+Sgt.Fury Seals better at what? U.S SF and Spec Ops have most likely the most experience in the world simply because they get deployed more and used more. UK and Isreal are an easy second simply on the basis of who's deploying more and getting real world missions
now, the swiss cheat, they fire totally enclosed plastic blanks, so once shot, theyre ruined, and so there's no reason why they can't just leave them there:P
Fabian Martin That's not usually the reason we do brass sweep in the military. The main reasons are that: 1) It's eco friendly 2) It covers our tracks from enemy reccie patrols.
I think the quality of both the Uk and the USA paras are about the same ....the difference is in numbers with the Americans capable of putting many many thousands more in a battle than the UK.......and for that l thank you !!
God bless both amazing forces but let me get this straight ok if you agree with me like this. The British, for all of you out there thinking the British are weak ha are you dumb. They have four of the most elite forces on the planet, e.g. SAS, SBS, Royal Marines, Gurkas etc. British train a ton of forces including Navy seals and Delta Force. They also have a lot better equipment, longer training of around 23 weeks, more experience etc. so to all my fellow Americans, understand this don't fuck with the British, and long live both countries. USA USA USA
DannyExtabyte last time I checked they never ever trained delta force and sas doesn't train seals they train WITH seals delta doesn't want anything to do with the brits
Nameless 69 why is it so hard for you to believe? Pride maybe? Ill put you straight......the britush SAS have always been the fire runners of special forces. They have been setting the standard and raising it higher since they were formed. They not only train the U.S. specials but many other countries too. Their teaining is secind to none. Dont get me wrong, i admire the passion and loyalty you have to your country....cant fault it......but dont be so blinkered to facts. Beung an ex serviceman myself im speaking with knowledge and experience......tell me....where are you being ill informed from? Americans....all the gear but no idea. Thats not a bad thing, we used to love it when they rolled up into theater with their shops and bars. They've actually changed the eagle patch for the Uk paratroopers now. It's gone back to the WW2 pegasus.
timetowaste really i thought it was gliders with a maroon belt to signify an old airborne root. The pegasus was 5th airborne?
First men into Normandy around midnight 6june 1944 Pegasus bridge. First class operation .look up your history of d day .
Damn, the british combat uniforms put our UCP to shame...
lol, they do look good don't they.
I don't like the grey, reminds me of Nazis lol
MTP mate think your military should invest in it
GeneralBroughton Too bad the only thing they are changing is the Navy uniforms, though talks of an Army change is in the works I hear. I actually kind of liked the Navy's Black and Blue look. But the digital... I cannot stand the freaking digital. You tell me, where in nature do those patterns appear?
soon they'll be fielding the Scorpion 2. Which is very similar to MTP
The British parachute regiment is beyond all its hardcore.
It was awesome to work with the U.K. In JRTC. These guys are very polite and they are funny as fuck
brits fitness levels are outstanding
Or are craphat "REMFs", if so... ;-)
Alpha, Alpha, Tango, Whiskey...
thank you brother for your service and hope you're keeping well
I don't think there is a more impressive display of military power than a mass airborne deployment, by any nation. Just seeing all those men and their equipment raining out of the skies must have a huge psychological effect on an enemy.
Both are great soldiers for me.
Who cares who is better or who would win against each other.....just imagine what they could do together. Respect.
As a Briton with friends and family in the UK military how much the US in general worships their soldiers and treats them as royalty. The British government treat our troops and service men and women like shit.
SMH!!!!
America doesn't treat her servicemen Any Better!!
They treat everyone like that unless you’re in. “Special group” if you’re a normal working taxpayer you’re just background noise.
hi,I'm a brit,my cousins in the parachute regiment, hes Just came back from a training exercise with American airbourne,he's got nothing but praise for the yanks,he said there top guys&extremely well trained, best allies to have
Should have just had a fist fight? The Brits are supreme experts at that! Lol
Our countries are allies, they both train with each other!!!!
soflo23. You are an idiot.
I was 2 Para '71-'78 best time of my life.👊
So proud that our countries are able to work together!
Everybody could already tell you're British
Exactly get the he'll outta here.
True story!
Both are excellent armed forces and allies but if they were fighting each other i think the British parachute regiment would win if you notice they are far more equipped for the longer fight look at the webbing and look how aggressive the British are.
I remember doing this at RAF Abingdon. Lazy A we called it because after P Company it was a holiday!
Anybody else, out there?
when under enemy fire there is no other force i would want on my shoulder but these well trained US forces, we train more or less the same so in the Theatre of conflict we all know what and where the back up is, i don't think there are any other allied force's in the world that gel like UK and USA long may the union prevail, and that's from a ten year vet from 3 para

@Kalani Garnica he's talking about the weight not the currency
Are u saying the US or UK army is varied from shit to good?
Damn so much UK and U.S. Troops that's awesome! :D
My pops was 82nd. He was also a bastard and had everything going against him in life until he joined the army. The army and the 82nd essentially raised my father into the great man i see today. I love the army, the 82nd and my father dearly.

One thing that stood out to me is the difference in the amount of gear carried by the US and UK troops.
Because us British are out for longer and so a lot more than the Americans
We are the heaviest infantry in the world... expected to fight longer and harder with more independence and smaller numbers - Colonial type setup with emphasis on having the best trained infantry which = versatility.
The wealth of doctrines, skill, robustness, pride and character in the British infantry is unmatched.
I worked at the Gun Shop the Paras visited with the range in the back. Professional bunch.
respect to us troops. we are brothers and sisters
All I can think of when watching this is the policing of the brass after at the end of the day. Great training footage!
How about Glorious Britannia? That good enough for you?
+blueyognog Don't be childish. I'm saying that "Great" doesn't mean "Wonderful". It is simply a geographic term. Too complicated for you to understand...?
British don't train U.S Troops.
It's called cross training.
If anything the U.S trains more of other countries military. and why do I say that? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
the U.S Army alone has more training schools and schools in General that they offer.
I can promise you this. if I gave you a list of information about joining but didn't tell you which country I was talking about you would pick the U.S military every time to join. simply on what they offer you.
+brandon curl US train British all the time.
It prevents stagnation, and is good for all involved.
why do the american soldiers have allot of loose straps and ends?, no brits did
I spent almost three decades in the Army and the first 11+ on jump status.
15:05 "Where're you hit - say some place simple" - Think he's misunderstood the purpose of training.
I would feel so safe having America by our side, I would literally give you guys a hug.
fantastic vid....lots of respect to our American allies and nice to see no comments on who is better etc...bet the paras found a local boozer and went on the piss afterwards though
Unpopular opinion but I actually liked the U.S. Army's UCP camo better than the current multicam.
This reminds me of Saving Private Ryan. Awesome to watch.
Steve Back yup that was shit too

To all those who claims the Swedes shouldnt been in Afghanistan for being poor and lousy soldiers! I get sick by these thoughtless comments!
So true
Its because we already have everything here in the US. We can train in any type of terrain since we're a big country.
Other countries don't have the variations of terrain therefor, them coming to the US.
+The Great One not really true in this case because they're training in a field, the reason countries such as the USA and UK train together is so that they can implement new tactics and teachings gained from the other country into their own training
You should understand that the UK is small. it is around the same size as the state of Oregon. We do not have anywhere like Alaska or Arizona with regard to extremes of temperature and climate. That is why we sometimes train in Canada.
someone hasnt heard of sunnyfridge.. (sennybridge).. best spec forces area in the world, it's outright ridiculously extreme conditions

A few comments regarding the respective camoflage - the Americans were expecting redcoats and bearskins - must have been quite a shock.
U.K. U.K. U.K. U.K. U.K.
That digital urban camouflage is shocking
The USA and UK are both great allies
Both Armies have different fighting doctrines but both train for scenarios where the forces are combined and fighting together as one unit even the navies have have a unified system where either can slot right in
And to all the youngsters on here saying we would defeat the US in war need to get real. The US marine Corp is as big as the British army ??
obviously the Uk is tiny compared to the US
The size argument is not credible, you would not use the whole us marines to fight.
Well that's what they said to North Vietnam.
Jonny Bravo Exactly. I'm not suggesting we would win but it would be closer than people think.
Declan yes but it's skill obliterates the US and is covert forces
Its an odd thing to notice, but there's some great camera work going on here.

Do you remember the old guys being interviewed on Band of Brothers. "We fought the Germans. We fought the navy. We fought the marines. When nobody else was around we fought each other". 101st and 82nd. Can't imagine too many would choose either as an enemy.
SAS vs navy seals that would be good I think sas
Experience alone makes the SEALS better IMO
+Sgt.Fury Seals better at what? U.S SF and Spec Ops have most likely the most experience in the world simply because they get deployed more and used more. UK and Isreal are an easy second simply on the basis of who's deploying more and getting real world missions
***** Exactly. You said it.
The SAS are on almost constant deployment. They just don't boast about it, unlike some.
John Corsie Not compared to he USA. take the last 50 years and add it up
Impressive jump, where was enemy fire mowing them down as they floated to earth?
"Care Packages"
all i gotta say is.... Brass Detail must have sucked!
Must've taken bloody days.
now, the swiss cheat, they fire totally enclosed plastic blanks, so once shot, theyre ruined, and so there's no reason why they can't just leave them there:P
Fabian Martin That's not usually the reason we do brass sweep in the military. The main reasons are that:
1) It's eco friendly
2) It covers our tracks from enemy reccie patrols.
yeah, i get that, but when you're firing decomposable plastic rounds, theres no need to do it xD
Fabian Martin they aren't plastic tho
I think the quality of both the Uk and the USA paras are about the same ....the difference is in numbers with the Americans capable of putting many many thousands more in a battle than the UK.......and for that l thank you !!
Best airborne force in the world 🇬🇧
We may train differently but the outcome is the same professionals.
USA USA USA
D - Finity the 23 week 'training' is to see if your good enough to get trained.
Danny Extabyte my basic training along with my AIT has been a total of 28 weeks.
DannyExtabyte last time I checked they never ever trained delta force and sas doesn't train seals they train WITH seals delta doesn't want anything to do with the brits
Lol and are you saying that your rock is more powerful than the us?
