When a position is either "lead" or "main", "lead" is good but "main" is better.....like at the Academy Awards, "lead" would be the Supporting Actor category, and "main" would be the Best Actor category. So Chen, Baekhyun and D.O. are main vocalists, and the rest are lead or sub vocals. Kai and Lay are main dancers. Sehun is a lead dancer. Chanyeol and Sehun are main rappers. EXO-Ls love any content that shows of our members’ talents and achievements 😊 Just some updates for you guys because this guide is quite old: - All members are done serving in the military except for Lay (he is Chinese, not required); Kai enlisted in May as a public service officer, meaning he is not living full time in military housing like a regular soldier. He can go home after work everyday and on the weekends. His service will be therefore longer than a regular soldier and he should be out in 2025; Sehun should enlist anytime before his 30th birthday in April 2024). - EXO has the highest net worth among all idol groups estimated at US$1Billion (more than bts and blackpink combined). You may think this is odd given they’re not as ‘popular ‘ in American media or Spotify and RUclips etc, but you have to remember that many countries around the world use various other streaming platforms. For example in China, EXIST album went #1 on QQ Music, that’s only 1 service but they have more users than ALL spotify worldwide users combined. In South Korea, one of the major streaming services called Melon hailed Exo as Emperors of Kpop this 2023 because they have the highest number of combined streams of any group in the country (group + sub-unit + solo works). And then reported again by other Asian media outlets in 2023, I’ve linked some below. But you are correct, there are also other media sources putting the net worth at a lower, more conservative figure. But you have to remember their longevity and the amount of revenue sources they have is crazy, and it’s not often reported in english language media. They have one of the biggest and longest running fan clubs with monthly membership fees, plus a special Japanese fan club membership. Anything they release goes #1 in China. Take note - China alone has a bigger population than USA and Europe combined. And they dont use spotify or youtube and their numbers are not counted for Billboard ratings. They’ve had so many endorsements and TV commercials with huge name brands like Hyundai, KFC, chinese and south korean household food items. D.O. actually sang in three languages for his first solo album 'Empathy'. He sang in Korean, English and Spanish. He really has a talent of sounding fluent in any languages he speaks/sings.

I would love for you guys to do a deep dive into each member (maybe a guide) and their songs. As for a group song, since you have already started with their debut times (MAMA), please listen to What is love by Baekhyun and Kyungsoo. It was their first pre debut track and freaking mind blowing!!!! It got me into EXO. At 16:50 you are right. All EXO members are great at dancing. Perhaps they meant in the guide that he was weaker in the beginning. It is been many years since debut:)) At 16:43 several members of EXO did musicals! At 30:54 Baekhyun’s song is Love Again. There is live session with a band which you might consider checking out. And yes Psycho is dramatic:) consider listening to it as well. And I’m still amazed how we are so lucky to have all of these talented artists in one group. Like they are unbelievable. I was so happy to relive some moments by watching this guide with you. Baekhyun was also in a musical in 2014, he was one of the leads in the Singing In The Rain musical. Kyuhyun from Super Junior, Jay from TRAX and Baekhyun were one of the main cast of the musical being the character of Don Lockwood (If I'm not mistaken, I think they rotated Shows that's why there were 3 different actors for the same role). There are not many official videos of the musical but there are many fancams, the fandom usually forgets that he also participated in a musical or there are people who do not even know it.
Exo are considered a legendary group, having starting off 3rd generation and becoming extremely popular and successful as a singing group in 2012 onward....coming before others like Bts, Nct, Ateez, Stray Kids...and even before doing any acting except commercials...although D.O. (Kyungsoo) started acting first in 2014, and Lay started the earliest at 6 years old in China. Kai is the most prominent dancer in Exo and kpop as a whole...he started ballet at 9 years old, then went to a jazz academy and attended The School of Performing Arts in Seoul. Kai signed with SM in the 6th or 7th grade. Exo became an overnight sensation in 2013 with the song and mv for "Growl". It started their popularity and grew their massive worldwide fandom. They are well known for their vocals and harmonies, and are primarily singers, crooners, and have pop, love songs, dance songs, mainly r&b, old school retro easy listening music...they are singers...and ballads, mellow old school is my style, especially r&b....Exo does it so well. They may be boring to alot of people in today's crowd since not many sing old school like that anymore...and the fast paced rap and dance appeals more to today's younger generation, which I love also. But comparatively Exo are like Mariah Carey, whereas Bts is like Cardi B, that's how I view them....singers...even the rappers and dancers. 💙🌺

Xiumin is pronounced like Shoe-Min or Shoo-Min. X in Chinese is pronounced like the sh sound in English NOT the Z sound. As one of the two Korean members of EXO-M, EXO's Mandarin Chinese sub-unit, Kim Minseok was given the stage name Xiumin because it helps him fit in as a member of EXO-M and it makes him more relatable to their Chinese fans. Kim Minseok is also a very common name in Korea. Therefore, it also helps distinguish him from all the other Kim Minseoks in the entertainment industry. He was even on a reality show once where they cast several celebrity Kim MinSeoks together, so he actually asked them to call him Xiumin in order to make it less confusing when they were talking about each other. LOL I actually knew a well-known actor named Kim Minseok and a musician with that name before I knew Xiumin. As a member of EXO-M, Xiumin was actually more a a rapper than he was a singer, so yes, he is a good rapper. However, because EXO is an SM Entertainments group, they are all outstanding vocalists. SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the Kpop industry, so all of its artists are top tier vocalists. You literally can't be a member of SM without having superior vocal skills. That is why EXO are considered "the vocal kings of Kpop." Yes, you will discover that all the members of EXO are actors, and all of them have starred in K-dramas and movies and/or are stage actors. Promoting as a group only takes up a few weeks a year -- on average they only promote their latest comeback on music shows and attend variety shows or do interviews, etc. for about 2 weeks -- so in order to fill their time and continue to make money, all Idols have side projects, which means most idols also spend time as actors, models, Radio DJs, authors, music producers, songwriters, regular/main cast members on variety shows, etc. Their side projects also are part of their cross promotions as idols. Someone who doesn't know them may watch them in a drama or movie or see them promoting their favorite brand or product, etc., which leads to them discovering their group and music, or the person may be a fan of them as a singer and this makes them want to watch their movie or drama, etc. It's all about getting their name and face out there in as many ways as possible in order to drive sales and viewership of everything they are involved in. Baekhyun's performance of "Garden in the Air" is actually a cover performance. The song is originally by BoA, who is a highly respected SM solo artist who debuted in 2000 at the age of 13, and, even after 23 years, she is still a member of SM and is active as a singer and as a member of SM's board of directors. Baekhyun performed that song as a tribute to her for her 20th anniversary in 2020. The song where Kai was wearing no shirt with a gun holster was EXO's song "Love Shot," so his outfit was meant to go along with the theme of the song. Plus, the reason why he was wearing the holster across his chest like that was because that performance was during an award show, which was being shown on a national TV network, so in order to be shown on TV he had to actually cover part of his chest. It's part of network TV rules, you can only show a certain amount of skin before it becomes too risque for primetime TV. And, although Kai has made crop tops famous and was one of the first male idols to wear them, he actually doesn't LOVE to be shirtless as much as people might think. Kai is often shirtless because he is known for his abs and it's become part of his brand. These days it is almost expected of him that he will show off his abs. It has even sort of became part of EXO's storyline. He has literally been on a strict diet and workout regimen for most of his career in order to maintain his abs. If you check out an episode of "I live Alone" where Kai was on the show, he shows off his super chic condo and talks a little about his diet. However, in an episode of the Korean variety show Knowing Bros. Kai talked about how on stage he doesn't mind being shirtless because it is part of the character he embodies, but the minute he steps off stage he becomes extremely self-conscious. During "Tempo" and "Obsession" era when he was wearing crop tops all over the place to perform during music shows and events, etc. he said it caused him to have really bad posture, because the minute he stepped off stage he would slouch to try and cover his stomach. Even though Kai knows he looks good, as you have seen, Kim JongIn is really shy, so I think if it hadn't become such a big part of who he is as an idol and model, he probably wouldn't be shirtless very often. Kai is literally considered one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop, and that's not just a fans opinion. He has been acknowledged as the most skilled dancer by other idols and industry experts. For several years they took a survey and asked other idols who they thought was the best dancer and Kai always won. The other top dancer is Taemin from the legendary SM boy group SHINee, who happens to be Kai's best friend. Both Taemin and Kai are also members of SuperM. There is literally no one in the Kpop industry who are better dancers than Kai and Taemin. Taemin and Kai are idols' idols and legends among legends. Everyone in the Kpop community and entertainment industry highly respects Taemin and Kai for their skills as dancers and performers. Most other idols will tell you that Kai and Taemin are the artists that they look up to the most and they are often cited as the reason why other idols wanted to become a dancer and singer.

Ok, so here is my list for solos. They all have so many amazing ones, you honestly can't go wrong. Suho - "Let's Love" - I really love this one. Xiumin - "You" - Since you've already seen Brand New, for Shoomy, I suggest you watch this one. Lay - "Lit" - There are so many. I love his MVs, but it's gotta be "Lit" for me. Baekhyun - "UN Village" please...please...PLEASEEEEEEE... He has so many though lol. And TBH my fav Baek songs don't have MVs. Chen - "Beautiful Goodbye" This song is just absolutely gorgeous. Chanyeol - "Good Enough" He recently had his solo debut (which is hard to believe since he does so much.) He also has some amazing OSTs and Covers. D.O. - "Somebody" One of his most recent MVs. It also happens to be a really amazing MV. lol. Kai - "Nothing On Me" I was gonna rec "mmmh" but since y'all have already seen it then I rec this one, haha. It would also be hard to mention him without talking about his 'films.' Don't ask questions, just watch them. Sehun - "On Me" As far as I know, Sehun doesn't have any Solo Albums, but this one was done under the SC umbrella. He's the member I know the least about, so someone else can hopefully give y'all a recommendation for him. Also, y'all will LOVE the "wolf" Concert Remix version. I suggest that perf as well. haha. So the Sub Unit groups are CBX and SC. CBX being Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin and SC being Sehun and Chanyeol. If I were to rec for them, I would say... CBX - "Hey Mama" There are so many, but I think you gotta start with this one. SC - "What a Life" This song is literally such a vibe. I don't think you can find any kpop group, male or female, with members having such diverse talents and accolades as Exo. No, can't think of any. All of the member's side projects or artistic abilities aside Exo group music has made them very busy men over the last 10 years. Besides appearances, concert tours around the world, including the States, tv shows (Knowing Bros), game shows, music shows (Immortal Songs) tv entertaiment talk shows, radio shows, Exo reality shows (Ladder), commercials, photoshoots, magazine covers, High-end brand sponserships, fashion show invites (Italy, France), promotional exposure outside of music or Exo, all of this including acting and modeling....have made Exo one of the richest kpop groups in history. I've followed them for 10 years and it's all because of the vocals. I've watched them grow up in front of the cameras and have learned about them as people, great brotherly bond. They have matured into the seasoned performers they are today. All have finished their military service except Kai and Sehun. Kai is in now, Sehun to follow soon.

- All members are done serving in the military except for Lay (he is Chinese, not required); Kai enlisted in May as a public service officer, meaning he is not living full time in military housing like a regular soldier. He can go home after work everyday and on the weekends. His service will be therefore longer than a regular soldier and he should be out in 2025; Sehun should enlist anytime before his 30th birthday in April 2024).
- EXO has the highest net worth among all idol groups estimated at US$1Billion (more than bts and blackpink combined). You may think this is odd given they’re not as ‘popular ‘ in American media or Spotify and RUclips etc, but you have to remember that many countries around the world use various other streaming platforms. For example in China, EXIST album went #1 on QQ Music, that’s only 1 service but they have more users than ALL spotify worldwide users combined. In South Korea, one of the major streaming services called Melon hailed Exo as Emperors of Kpop this 2023 because they have the highest number of combined streams of any group in the country (group + sub-unit + solo works). This is an incredible achievement given that they were on hiatus for years due to military service and havent done much promotion during pandemic etc. And any album or single they put out always goes number 1 on iTunes worldwide charts and iTunes in dozens of countries. They just dont sell albums in stores or websites that are officially recognized by Billboard, and they dont promote on American media, thats why you don’t see them charting there.
- They hold the Guinness record for fastest sold out concerts, 0.2 seconds for ~67k tickets. They broke their own record before that was 0.4seconds.
- Baekhyun is THE number 1 best selling solo artist in the history of South Korea. He was the first solo artist to sell 1 million albums after 19 years in South Korea and now even though he just got discharged this 2023, he still holds the record for most album sales. He recently established his own company with his friend and Exo’s choreographer, Kasper. This company will be in charge of Baekhyun’s solo work and he has said that we should look forward to 2024 he has a lot of solo activities planned. But his Exo group work will still be with SM entertainment.
- Lay is unbelievably huge in China. He has often said he is always with Exo if they need him for anything, but it seems his solo career both in acting and music keeps him super busy. His solo concerts this year all also sold out in less than 1 minute. Also, his latest movie called No More Bets went number 1 worldwide, and actually beat Barbie and Oppenheimer on the weekend that it opened. He is an ambassador for so many luxury brands and household item it is difficult to keep up.
- Suho has 2 solo albums and has been doing solo music festivals, starred in a musical Mozart this 2023, and also was in a successful Netflix series called Behind Your Touch. He has said he will release a third solo album next year, and that Exo will release an album next year, too.
- D.O. has two solo albums, and his most recent one released just this past October was a huge hit. It debuted #1 iTunes worldwide album charts, and went #1 iTunes in 40+ countries. It also went #1 digital sales on QQ Music China and various other South Korean platforms. All the songs charted in South Korea and are still charting today. He is an incredibly successful actor, he recently starred in a huge scifi blockbuster called The Moon and has racked up various prestigious acting nominations for it. He also established his own company with his long time former manager. Like Baekhyun, this company will handle all his solo work from here on. But he will remain doing Exo group work under SM.
- Kai has three successful solo albums. It is a must watch to see Film: Kai and Film Rover. He is very involved in the visuals and concepts of his albums. Similar to Beyonce Lemonade visual album, but just incredibly unique artistry and concepts. Must watch for the fashions, dance, and of course, the music.
- Xiumin just released his first solo album last year. You’ll definitely vibe to it for it’s 90s throwback pop vibes. He is also a successful actor, and he was recently in a series called CEO-dol Mart with Monsta X Hyungwon.
- Chen has two children now, and three successful solo albums. Chen is also one of the most successful solo artists in South Korea. His solo stream counts are even higher than many popular kpop groups today. Must check out his work if you’re in the mood for some ballads and powerful vocals. He is also often involved in lyrics writing and designing merch for Exo.
- Chanyeol is currently going on solo fan meetings all over Asia. He has a solo single just released this past month. He is insanely popular all around Asia as well. For example, he has the most monthly listeners of any kpop soloist on Kugou app China ~ 77 million. He said he will release his first full album next year!
-Sehun is insanely influential in the fashion world. Any magazine he covers immediately sells out or sets record sales. For example, his most recent Sense magazine sold US$2 million worth of copies in just the first day. He is also a successful actor. His latest series called All That We Loved showcases bothnhis comedic and dramatic acting skills.

And then reported again by other Asian media outlets in 2023, I’ve linked some below. But you are correct, there are also other media sources putting the net worth at a lower, more conservative figure.
But you have to remember their longevity and the amount of revenue sources they have is crazy, and it’s not often reported in english language media. They have one of the biggest and longest running fan clubs with monthly membership fees, plus a special Japanese fan club membership. Anything they release goes #1 in China. Take note - China alone has a bigger population than USA and Europe combined. And they dont use spotify or youtube and their numbers are not counted for Billboard ratings.
They’ve had so many endorsements and TV commercials with huge name brands like Hyundai, KFC, chinese and south korean household food items.
They were even South Korea tourism ambassadors for several years they had a lot of videos and billboards doing tourism ads. - Suho has the biggest musical career: He did School Oz with Xiumin, which was a hologram musical done by SM artists, but he also was the lead role in The Last Kiss, The Man Who Laughs, and Mozart! (the last three were all major musical productions in South Korea, and he was recognized for his performances~)
- Xiumin did School Oz with Suho, as I mentioned before, and he did two musicals while enlisted: Return: The Promise of That Day(which he did alongside D.O) and Return~ But the biggest role was immediately after he got out of the military he did the lead role of Orpheus in South Korea's production of Hadestown!~
- As I mentioned before D.O did Return: The Promise of That Day with Xiumin when they were doing their mandatory enlistment

Baekhyun was also in a musical in 2014, he was one of the leads in the Singing In The Rain musical. Kyuhyun from Super Junior, Jay from TRAX and Baekhyun were one of the main cast of the musical being the character of Don Lockwood (If I'm not mistaken, I think they rotated Shows that's why there were 3 different actors for the same role). There are not many official videos of the musical but there are many fancams, the fandom usually forgets that he also participated in a musical or there are people who do not even know it.

Exo are considered a legendary group, having starting off 3rd generation and becoming extremely popular and successful as a singing group in 2012 onward....coming before others like Bts, Nct, Ateez, Stray Kids...and even before doing any acting except commercials...although D.O. (Kyungsoo) started acting first in 2014, and Lay started the earliest at 6 years old in China.
Kai is the most prominent dancer in Exo and kpop as a whole...he started ballet at 9 years old, then went to a jazz academy and attended The School of Performing Arts in Seoul. Kai signed with SM in the 6th or 7th grade.
Exo became an overnight sensation in 2013 with the song and mv for "Growl". It started their popularity and grew their massive worldwide fandom. They are well known for their vocals and harmonies, and are primarily singers, crooners, and have pop, love songs, dance songs, mainly r&b, old school retro easy listening music...they are singers...and ballads, mellow old school is my style, especially r&b....Exo does it so well. They may be boring to alot of people in today's crowd since not many sing old school like that anymore...and the fast paced rap and dance appeals more to today's younger generation, which I love also. But comparatively Exo are like Mariah Carey, whereas Bts is like Cardi B, that's how I view them....singers...even the rappers and dancers. 💙🌺

Xiumin is pronounced like Shoe-Min or Shoo-Min. X in Chinese is pronounced like the sh sound in English NOT the Z sound. As one of the two Korean members of EXO-M, EXO's Mandarin Chinese sub-unit, Kim Minseok was given the stage name Xiumin because it helps him fit in as a member of EXO-M and it makes him more relatable to their Chinese fans. Kim Minseok is also a very common name in Korea. Therefore, it also helps distinguish him from all the other Kim Minseoks in the entertainment industry. He was even on a reality show once where they cast several celebrity Kim MinSeoks together, so he actually asked them to call him Xiumin in order to make it less confusing when they were talking about each other. LOL I actually knew a well-known actor named Kim Minseok and a musician with that name before I knew Xiumin.
As a member of EXO-M, Xiumin was actually more a a rapper than he was a singer, so yes, he is a good rapper. However, because EXO is an SM Entertainments group, they are all outstanding vocalists. SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the Kpop industry, so all of its artists are top tier vocalists. You literally can't be a member of SM without having superior vocal skills. That is why EXO are considered "the vocal kings of Kpop."
Yes, you will discover that all the members of EXO are actors, and all of them have starred in K-dramas and movies and/or are stage actors. Promoting as a group only takes up a few weeks a year -- on average they only promote their latest comeback on music shows and attend variety shows or do interviews, etc. for about 2 weeks -- so in order to fill their time and continue to make money, all Idols have side projects, which means most idols also spend time as actors, models, Radio DJs, authors, music producers, songwriters, regular/main cast members on variety shows, etc. Their side projects also are part of their cross promotions as idols. Someone who doesn't know them may watch them in a drama or movie or see them promoting their favorite brand or product, etc., which leads to them discovering their group and music, or the person may be a fan of them as a singer and this makes them want to watch their movie or drama, etc. It's all about getting their name and face out there in as many ways as possible in order to drive sales and viewership of everything they are involved in.
Baekhyun's performance of "Garden in the Air" is actually a cover performance. The song is originally by BoA, who is a highly respected SM solo artist who debuted in 2000 at the age of 13, and, even after 23 years, she is still a member of SM and is active as a singer and as a member of SM's board of directors. Baekhyun performed that song as a tribute to her for her 20th anniversary in 2020.
The song where Kai was wearing no shirt with a gun holster was EXO's song "Love Shot," so his outfit was meant to go along with the theme of the song. Plus, the reason why he was wearing the holster across his chest like that was because that performance was during an award show, which was being shown on a national TV network, so in order to be shown on TV he had to actually cover part of his chest. It's part of network TV rules, you can only show a certain amount of skin before it becomes too risque for primetime TV.
And, although Kai has made crop tops famous and was one of the first male idols to wear them, he actually doesn't LOVE to be shirtless as much as people might think.
Kai is often shirtless because he is known for his abs and it's become part of his brand. These days it is almost expected of him that he will show off his abs. It has even sort of became part of EXO's storyline. He has literally been on a strict diet and workout regimen for most of his career in order to maintain his abs. If you check out an episode of "I live Alone" where Kai was on the show, he shows off his super chic condo and talks a little about his diet.
However, in an episode of the Korean variety show Knowing Bros. Kai talked about how on stage he doesn't mind being shirtless because it is part of the character he embodies, but the minute he steps off stage he becomes extremely self-conscious. During "Tempo" and "Obsession" era when he was wearing crop tops all over the place to perform during music shows and events, etc. he said it caused him to have really bad posture, because the minute he stepped off stage he would slouch to try and cover his stomach.
Even though Kai knows he looks good, as you have seen, Kim JongIn is really shy, so I think if it hadn't become such a big part of who he is as an idol and model, he probably wouldn't be shirtless very often.
Kai is literally considered one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop, and that's not just a fans opinion. He has been acknowledged as the most skilled dancer by other idols and industry experts. For several years they took a survey and asked other idols who they thought was the best dancer and Kai always won. The other top dancer is Taemin from the legendary SM boy group SHINee, who happens to be Kai's best friend. Both Taemin and Kai are also members of SuperM. There is literally no one in the Kpop industry who are better dancers than Kai and Taemin. Taemin and Kai are idols' idols and legends among legends. Everyone in the Kpop community and entertainment industry highly respects Taemin and Kai for their skills as dancers and performers. Most other idols will tell you that Kai and Taemin are the artists that they look up to the most and they are often cited as the reason why other idols wanted to become a dancer and singer.

Lay - "Lit" - There are so many. I love his MVs, but it's gotta be "Lit" for me.
Baekhyun - "UN Village" please...please...PLEASEEEEEEE... He has so many though lol. And TBH my fav Baek songs don't have MVs.

Before you saw the two versions of Mama. The video told you that there were originally 12 members. 6 in exo m and 6 in exo k. Xiumin and Chen were originally in exo m. And Lay as well. The 3 other exo m members left. One we do not mention.

I don't think you can find any kpop group, male or female, with members having such diverse talents and accolades as Exo. No, can't think of any. All of the member's side projects or artistic abilities aside Exo group music has made them very busy men over the last 10 years.
Besides appearances, concert tours around the world, including the States, tv shows (Knowing Bros), game shows, music shows (Immortal Songs) tv entertaiment talk shows, radio shows, Exo reality shows (Ladder), commercials, photoshoots, magazine covers, High-end brand sponserships, fashion show invites (Italy, France), promotional exposure outside of music or Exo, all of this including acting and modeling....have made Exo one of the richest kpop groups in history. I've followed them for 10 years and it's all because of the vocals. I've watched them grow up in front of the cameras and have learned about them as people, great brotherly bond. They have matured into the seasoned performers they are today. All have finished their military service except Kai and Sehun. Kai is in now, Sehun to follow soon.

You guys should react to SuperM, they are so good. The group is formed by idols of other groups under SM Enterteinement, Baekhyun and Kai are in it, and Taemin from Shinee too, joining the other four members, Mark, Taeyong, Lucas and Ten, from NCT and WayV.

Kai is the center because he's the best performer in the group so thay built exo's performances around him. He's also the main stan attractor lol. he has that it factor that gets people's attention and SM capitalized on that. Basically he's the face of the group
