Love it! Thanks for sharing this! I hope you know how much it helps someone such as myself who can only dream of such freedom and serenity! Be safe, be well!
Just watching some of your old Vids Great Job on the stone cutting of the cleaning of the pipes dang 👍 love the camera & the Camera Views at the end with that 🎵 music really Cool 😊
Best and most information I’ve seen on the Blaze King as well as stove maintenance, fire brick replacement and chimney cleaning. Thanks for the great tutorial. From Hells Canyon, Frank.
Another great video, Ed. We are finally going to be installing our Blaze King in a couple weeks. Because of watching this, I realized Daryl and I forgot to grab a stack thermometer lol. Had to pause to order one. 🤣 The workshop will be a great addition to your place! Looking forward to it.
If you are getting a telescopic double wall like I have you will need a thermometer with a probe into the inner pipe. A magnetic type will give you false readings by hundreds of degrees. You also have to drill a “slot” into the inner pipe because of expansion under heat. Just drill both regularly first but then pull the pipes apart and slot the inner drill hole. 18” up from the stovetop is what they say…
Hey Ed, it’s always a good day to see a new video. You editing skills are amazing. It helps to have some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. You have a slice of heaven to call your own. Living the Blessed life. Thanks again for taking us along on your amazing journey.
Ed, good day to you from Washington. I want to thank you for sharing Alaska from your mountain top home with all of us. You live in a beautiful location! The Fern Trail sure does fill quickly. It's quite beautiful to see it. Though I bet you are on full alert driving through there. I'm always impressed with how well you tend to your cabin. It's truly a labor of love. I'm pleased to see how you protect your hands while cutting the fire bricks to size. Is your goal to have your new buildings up this year? Life will be a bit easier when they are. Enough rambling today, so I'll close out for now. Have a fantastic day, living your best life in the beautiful Talkeetna Mountains.
Sorry for being late to watch. but some people don't even realize how important it is to check the fire bricks. I all ways talk about fire blankets for everyone to have. Great video
We used have a wood furnace,so I know about cleaning it. Also when you were doing selfy shots on Atv, you looked like you were on a hover machine. Fun to watch.
For your wood handles try one part linseed oil, one part mineral spirits, one part pine tar. Pine tar is found at feed stores in the equine section. It's used for the maintenance of hooves. Use a little heat to get the mixture to soak in. Suggest two applications.
Stove and chimney maintenance is crucial every year! Reminds me! I have some bricks to change! Nice and spotless! Lots of quantity and little quality these days! We live in a throw away world! VERY SAD! Referring to shovels! 😁😁
Hard to believe such a rugged place could be so beautiful. 3 new pythons!! Awesome. I like the new 360 camera - very interesting perspective from my view. God bless and take care.
Greetings USA 🇺🇸 Pennsylvania 😊 Thanks for Sharing your Magnificent views and Home.. I don't know if mentioned or thoughts about possibly using stones for your stairs, pathways outside, It would look amazing and more natural, less maintenance. Positive Thoughts. Enjoy your Day!..
I see your video and click on it because despite living in Alaska and having a breathtaking view myself, your view cannot be beat and you show it so well, but I was pleased to learn a whole lot in addition. In our BK, I can't even get that ash door up top to open for some reason so I need to start there, then I'm going to pull the catalytic like you did and make sure it's good. We're heating with a heat pump now fortunately, but in the winter I'm sure we'll light old trusty up again and there are so many house fires.... Thanks as usual for sharing!
That ash door/plug should come out easily. Maybe it’s been deformed by crazy high heat? Wonder what the problem is? Let me know what you find out. Thanks for watching!
Always nice to watch your videos , I have myself a cabin at 2000 m. I’m the Swiss alps where I go as soon as I have time off , the feeling you get out there with no one else around it’s just surreal and magical , the air it’s crispy and clean and you just feel so good Al lucky to be able to to enjoy this moment . Can’t wait to to see you your new sauna and workshop Cheers from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I have a soap stone wood stove with a catalytic combustor in it. It worked fine but would only last a saason. It would burn out. I quit replacing it after the 3rd time. They were very spendy. The stove still puts out plenty of heat with out using it! I burn a lot of hickory so maybe thats the reason they didnt last as hickory burns very hot compaired to most hard woods? Another great video!
Your channel is one of three we following on a regular basis. Hate when you have to go to work. How long before you plan to retire? We enjoy your channel, you do good work and your place is definitely the top of the world-beautiful.
Great video! I was thinking, that stove pipe is going to make a mess in that beautiful cabin and then you caught it all with the plastic bag! Very clever!! I live in NE Georgia and I never tire of the mountains. I can't even imagine the joy of seeing those mountains every day. Just stunning. I must confess, seeing those big bears on the trail camera gives me pause!! LOL I am glad you are wearing your pistol and have your gun on the front of your quad.
Nice job on the stove. Thanks for not getting on the roof to clean the chimney. 🙃 Your .357 magnum reminds me of my S&W 686. 4” or 6” on the barrel?? Enjoyed the video.
Ed the real facility manager! the 22er Kal is sweet. I had a Walther 22 kal. Its the Mossad gun for the fley-police patroll. It has not the same power then the 9 mm in an airplaine..22er: 2 in the breast one bullet in the head. Soft and easy. I like the automatic but revolver is better in cold countrys The 360th view makes you a space invader like from a film out of the 80th. Star invaders or so. LUKE in Alaska
Hey Ed, just a thought, have you ever considered getting one of those mini skid steers? The China ones are inexpensive and light enough to be flown in. Would be good for these projects and trail maintenance. That 360 camera is weird on a TV. Thanks for sharing.
Nope. Don’t want any heavy equipment out here. Don’t plan to do any mega construction projects. Just the garden, shower sauna, workshop, woodshed and a smoker.
You have the best view ever My question to you when you go to work how do you get to your health pad? Do you take all your luggage down with your snowmobile or four wheeler and then walk there real curious
When I leave I just walk to the helicopter landing zone with my bags. Usually it’s just a backpack and a sea bag. Trash and gasoline jugs I take over there about an hour before my heli flight.
Like “surround sound”, not a big fan of the 360 cameras. Kind of disorienting sometimes. But I also think it’s your video and you should do you. Still enjoy your content immensely and hope you continue to publish. Thanks for sharing.
I plan on getting a wood burning stove...but cannot decide on the Lopi Endeavor or Liberty or Blaze King Boxer or Ashford maybe even the Princess...I like both brands lol What brands we're you interested in & what made you decide on Blaze King...What brand of wood stove is relieved on most in Alaska where it could be the difference between live & death with the cold you get out there.....Thanks so much in advance...I respectfully listen to people such as yourself who live out there....I've watched every episode since the first video on your channel & love it.....
Blaze King seems to be the most popular wood stove in Alaska. That’s the only brand I sought out. Have a spare door glass kit on hand in case you break it. I don’t think the brand is so important so long as it’s a well made stove. With easy to get parts. Big thing is sweep that stove pipe frequently. I like to do it at least twice a year.
Exactly how I sweep my chimney! When I had my Blaze King I brushed the front of the cat about every other week to keep it from plugging. What kind of flue temps are you seeing for a low slow burn? I’m surprised those bricks wore down so fast.
I have to turn down my setting to 1. Otherwise my cabin gets too hot. Usually 300-400 flue temp at 18” up from the stove. But I make sure to burn very hot for at least an hour each day.
Yeah I think you mentioned the stove was too big for your cabin. I know Blaze king has a smaller model you may want to look into in the future. Those long burns are nice when you don’t want to babysit the stove all day.
Good evening from Arizona. Yet another great video. I’m not sure if you’ve already addressed it and I just can’t remember, but what model of 360 cam are you using and are you happy with it?
It’s a GoPro Max 360. It does ok but there is a better 360 camera. Insta360 X4 is what I will get next. In fact I may stop purchasing GoPro and go with Insta for everything.
This one had my OCD in upheaval! All that soot and nary a spec on your face! Hope you had your regulation chimney cleaning house slippers on....for safety's sake! Rain? I don't believe anyone's doing that this summer 😊😵💫
Love it! Thanks for sharing this! I hope you know how much it helps someone such as myself who can only dream of such freedom and serenity! Be safe, be well!

Ahh ...back to the orginal Mountain Mariner theme. Some don't like it, but sure is a perfect fit for your channel.
I’ll bounce around with JASA Productions original channel tunes and Epidemic music. Can’t keep everyone happy with the music but it is what it is.

The 22 LR most likely.
