Sometimes in life the stars align just right, and magical things happen. Like Gordon happening to have that little studio at the same moment the Strokes were ready to record an EP, and they happened to meet. That first album has a sound no other album had before. Gordon and the Strokes didn’t do things the conventional way. They experimented with the equipment, and got a new sound. 'Is this it' saved rock for a few more years. We need another movement like that now.
Great interview! Been sporadically listening to your podcast for quite some time its pretty cool to see Gordon in here. Apart for the songwriting, I've always admired the craft behind the first 2 Strokes albums. They sound so natural and aligned with the band's essence, as if they always existed.
I’m with you in this! I love the sound of those records. I remember how refreshing it was when they came out. Everything had gotten so glossy. Thanks for listening to the podcast!
That was a great discussion! That being said, I have no understanding whatsoever when it comes to music production. Do you have a video here like "Music Prod for Dummies"? Or is there a good RUclips account out there that could help me add some context to this discussion? 😅

Glad to hear it, and thanks! The book is awesome and covers so much. Thanks for listening and commenting!
Great interview. It took me a while to figure it out but Gordon’s voice and the way he talks is very much like Marc Cuban.
Thanks!, Gordon has a nice smooth delivery to his speech. You can really hear his smile as he talks!
Wow, I thought Gordon was from out of this world with a huge studio but is a music lover, a human, just like me. Me encantó, gracias hermano :')
And I think that's why we he does is so cool!! Thanks for listening!!
