  • Hungarian "Let It Go" from "Frozen" with subtitles and translation in both Finnish and English.
    The singer is Füredi Nikolett.
    ~~
    Weird stuff I'm uploading, huh?
This is how I've been studying lately, translating and analyzing Hungarian Disney songs. It's a good way for me to learn.
I also highlighted old Finno-Ugric words from the lyrics and I found quite many of them. There are also some other words that are related but they have gotten a little different semantic meanings in Finnish. For example "néz" (look) is related to "nähdä" (see) but they mean a little different things nowadays. Also "tud" (know) is related to "tuntea" (know someone, feel something).
I noticed I didn't find a subs&trans video of the Hungarian one so I made one myself. I found the English translation online but I made some translations myself, too. The Finnish translation is done completely by me. It was nice to notice how much I understood after just 3 months of studying the language.
I also tried a new editing technique. I did the border myself, what do you think of it?
    ~~
Pitch is changed and video mirrored due to copyrights.
    I own nothing.

Wow, that was a really great idea to make and I love the edititng too. (Yes, I love the border ;) )
And well, hats off, that you could traslate Hungarian to English and Finnish. You mentioned that you didn't find Hungarian S+T, but there are several ones, here is the best one: ruclips.net/video/p2bQX-MjX_U/видео.html . But! As I see, you didn't need it. You even managed to translate the "Olyan lelket mozdító" part to "The kind that moves the soul", which is a really accurate translation, but for example me, as a Hungarian, never managed to translate that part correctly. But now I know how to say that part in English, haha, so thanks and well done! :D
Also it was interesting to see some old Finno-Ugric words to be highlightened, maybe there aren't exactly the same, but they are quite similar to each other. :)
Good luck for your studies, you are really skilled in learning languages and I bet you will be able to speak fluently the Hungarian language soon. ;)

Ihan kiva video! :) olen sinunmoisesi, vaan olen unkarilainen ja opiskelen suomea (ja marin kieltä, mikä on myös meidän sukukieli :) ) pidän paljon videostasi! :) Jos sinulla on kysymyksiä unkarilaisesta kielestä tai olet kiinnostunut, voit kirjoittaa minulle :) (ja anteeksi, en puhu ihan hyvin suomea...)

Okay, so maybe I'll do something like that when I'll be learning a Slavic language ;) Amazingest editing I've ever seen :D Congrats! You're even better than yourself XD (That's how we call it here in Poland). I'm waiting for more! Good luck with Hungarian! And can you do a similar video with Estonian version? You know, how much you, as Finnish native speaker, can understand in Estonian dubbing ;) For me it's almost the same, but I don't speak any of them XD

_Tuntea_ is but not _tietää_ . Finnish has two words for "to know" and they both mean a little different things.

    • @jabbalone2068

@@MirkaKaroliina so you mean "tudom" and "tiedän" are not related. Seems a litle bit strange to me

    • @MirkaKaroliina
      @MirkaKaroliina  2 года назад

@@jabbalone2068 _Tietää_ comes from the word _tie_ which means road in Finnish (as in "I know the way"). _Tietää_ is used for more superficial knowledge whereas _tuntea_ is for deeper personal knowledge (mostly used with people). _Tuntea_ and _tud_ are related.
