@@EspenHelland two small details would have made a huge difference in perception: USB-C and the new Menu! But it is a amazing small adventure travel camera capable of a lot of things. Perfect for my climbing adventures:)
I'm very pleased with the added functionality of my new OM-1, which has not locked up on me yet (although, to be fair, it hasn't been to Costa Rica yet). Its weight is not trivial and I am still taking a first-generation 16MP OM-D EM-5 on travels and hikes where photography isn't the main purpose. But the lure of focus stacking and hand-held high-res are hard to resist.
I was sad for two major reasons, it isn't a revamped Pen-F with weather sealing and EM1.3 internals, and it didn't get the OM1 menu system that for many people took OM/Olympus from one of worst menu systems prior to possibly the best in the industry with the revamped OM1 software. That said, I'm still probably going to get one for the highres features alone. Until now I've been using an EM5.2 with highres to do photo-scans of film. I tried the EM1.3 version for a bit and the improvement of that alone is enough for me. My two main cameras are a GX85 and GX8, which I love, but I've pretty much given up on Panasonic releasing a proper update to the GX8 (a weather sealed tank in the rangefinder formfactor over the G9 and GH5/6's SLR style). Really it comes down to getting a used EM1.3 for ~750-800 USD and using the money saved to buy a solid used 12-40 f/2.8 to go with it or spending the extra money on the smaller body. On one hand I could save the money and just use the GX85 as my lightweight body, on the other hand I could just spend a bit more and have basically a single body instead of swapping between the GX85 and GX8/EM1.3. It's hard to justify the extra cost when the EM1.3 is a tank and a great condition used one can be found for 400 USD less for the body from reputable sellers :|. One could argue the weight or unlimited video, but for my uses neither are a big enough factor to matter. The 3 years of warranty going on right now might be enough added to having a single body, though.
I agree it would have been nice to see the new menu system in this camera. It suit me for my purpose, but you definitely have to consider your own use and if it makes more sense to save money on an older model.
Great little camera for people that don't already have a 5.3. Just be gentle on the tripod mount and don't use a PD belt clip or you can fatigue the tripod mount on a 5.3, not clear yet how much reinforcement OMDS added to the tripod mount area on the OM-5. I hope it was substantial. If so, all good, if not, be careful.
I plan to buy an OM-5 when it reaches our shores....although it has been panned by a few reviewers, including my fellow Malaysian, Robin Wong, who has an excellent vlog. I recently had the use of a friend's EM-5 Mk3 for an extended period and found it a joy to use for the same reasons you highlighted in this video.
Great video showing how compact MFT cameras are, and how much you can do on-board with an OMDS camera. I’m getting back into photography after a good few years out, so am trialling a new system, and I was blown away by how compact and light the OM-1 with the 12-40 f2.8 PRO (1.014kg) was compared to an A7iv with 24-70 f2.8 GM (1.651kg). Yes, there are pros and cons of each system, but when it comes to having to cart it about, OM-D (and I guess Panasonic) really steal the show.
I think that really depends on what you would use it for, the em1ii is still a very good camera. If I was going to upgrade I would go for the OM-1, unless you really want a very small all round camera, then the OM-5.
Searching for a OM camera so thanks for your excellent and ethusiastic review. Can the screen be used for odd angle shots, low down or held high or is just for vlogging? Stay well.
Presumably you haven't already got an EM5 Mk III, so getting the new OM-5 is a good idea. I already have an EM5 Mk III, so I won't be doing the same. Too little has changed to warrant an upgrade.
Yeah I don’t have an older version. Some new features that I really like in the OM-5, but I can see if they’re not important enough why you wouldn’t upgrade. Thanks for watching
I Love My OM-5! I generally keep a 12-40mm 2.8 on it. It lives in a bag with My E-M1X on which I keep a 40-150 f4 pro. These two and a 60mm macro cover most all of my needs.
The OM5 is basically the EM1 Mark 3 in a smaller package. I allways thought about a EM5 for the exact same purpose you mentioned. But I wanted the handheld highres mode. Hm, maybe it`s time for me also..
Hi, cool video. Bought this model myself and looking for opinions of others. Very new in this domain. Tell me please what camera strap you have? Thanks
Great video with some really great photos! You make real sense for the OM-5. I got the OM-1 and love it. I traded in my E-M1X for it. I kept my E-M1 MkIII but haven't used it in the 6 months of owning the OM-1. I got the OM-5 on pre-order and will be trading in my E-M1 MkIII to help pay for it. The OM-5 being a smaller camera will be my camera when I am out on a non-photographic outing.
I don't get it. Why would you trade in your E-M1 III for the OM-5? Both cameras are identical. Same sensor, same processors, same features - yet the E-M1 III has the better body, sturdier and better grip, USB C over Micro-USB - with a tiny bit of extra weight and marginally bigger. Keep your E-M1 III, it's better and you already paid for it.
@@weisserth For the last 7 months after getting the OM-1 I have not used my E-M1 MkIII. The OM-1 does everything the E-M1 MkIII does but better. I still continue to use my Pen F for family outings. Yes, the E-M1 MkIII is a better camera than the OM-5 but I will use the OM-5 on non-photography outings when the OM-1 is over kill.
The changes from the EM-5.3 are significant, whatever others might say. I've considered buying it. I had an EM-5.3 so I can see the improvements that I would have wanted. However now using an OM-1 and not needing the lighter weight (I'm mobility limited) means that another OM-1 makes more sense. I'll save as much weight (or more) by buying a 40-150mm f4 for carrying because the heavy stuff is carried by the car.
Love my OM-1! I’ve got a backup of it as well. I can see when I’m heading out with my OM-1 and vlogging with the OM-5 that the OM-5 can be a nice backup cam as well. Tried it out for wildlife today and it’s impressive!
Hi, I bought the OM5 but do not understand how to use those settings like the filter, also I need to be able to select the focus field.I bought it on Amazon so no support there... I tried lical stores willing to pay more but they will not sell OM System they want me to get a Sony A7😮 I am.used to Canon 5D and I am lost....Bought it to have a small compact wonder but I am left with worser pictures than on a cheap Aldi camera. Can't get it to focus on eyes on a portret or the moon is a big ball of light explosing. I hope you could direct me in the right way? I have the 12-45 4.0 lens I thank you 😊
The E-M1 II remains hard to beat and only 160g heavier than the 414g OM-5. If you end up with a 4kg kit anyway you know where to cut back :). The tough series from TG-4 onward can also do focus bracketing and live composite btw., zooms to 100mm IIRC, small sensor, ca. 300g, done. I'm enamored by the hand held hi rez though and the unlimited video capture, to avoid getting another video body just for that. Can't really see another M43 upgrade path unless Panasonic makes a GX9 II or something similar.
Takk for det 🙂 spørs litt, jeg har brukt alt fra HEIPI, en liten Joby og en lett billig K&F. Kommer litt an på hvor stabil du trenger den og om du kan bruke en liten en.
Many of the comments are from individuals within the OM system already. I was looking at this vs the Panasonic GX85 as a Segway into the 4/3 market. It seems to me that the OM5 would be a better bet. What is your opinion? How is the phase detect with wildlife photography? I know it’s not as good as the OM1 but seems better than the Pana gx85?
I got the GX85 for a lot less money than the OM5. It's a fine camera but it is not weather sealed. If weather sealing is a high priority the OM-5 looks to be a good option.
OM systems ambassadors really trying hard on this one... But we can all see its a leftover camera with a new processor. Selling this camera to the existing customer base isn't going to pay the bills, and the mid-range offers from other systems are far superior. Sure there are some nice upgrades but unfortunately there are many downgrades. Micro USB ! in 2022 c'mon...
I’ve been thinking about buying this camera even though it’s not much of an upgrade from the EM-5. But since I have the EM-1 mkiii and not an EM-5, I think this will be a cool camera to have for travel since it’s smaller than the EM-1
I find the auto focus quick to react, and the tracking works very well on faces. Though it doesn’t have the ai detection like the om1 does. I wouldn’t expect that from this small camera though. Not sure how it compares to your old one, I haven’t tried it.
There is nothing "wrong" with the OM-5 but as an owner of an OMD-EM-5iii, this is a yawner. It is obvious to anyone who pays attention that the OM-5 is nothing more than what would have been the OMD-EM-5iv had Olympus maintained the line. Zero features that were not already in the EM-1iii or EM-5iii. And the fact that they are using the same 6-year old tired sensor makes this camera very uncompetitive. While it's fine as a back-up, anyone who is serious about shooting wildlife or moving people should not make this their primary piece of hardware. In terms of weight, the OM-1 is only 3 ounces heavier than the OM-5 and offers a newer (albeit still only 20 mp) sensor and a host of new features. The biggest concern I have about the OM-5 is the long term viability of OM Solutions. They have released one new piece of equipment (OM-1) that was good but far from the "wow" they promoted. And they released a minor update to an older camera. Meanwhile, the big boys of Nikon, Sony, Canon, and Fuji are innovating all over the place. If this company can't or won't keep up it's hard to see how they stay in business. And if they fail, those of us invested in the ecosystem will have difficult and expensive choices to make.
Same deal as with the EM1 Mark 2 to Mark 3. First moment I thought meeeh. But when I broke the Mark 2 before a holiday and got the Mark 3, I was convinced afterwards. I had higher hopes in a completely new camera like you. But still, I think the OM5 is a very interesting thing. For me the main drawback is the price. It`s a hard to swallow pill. For maybe 900 bucks I whould have bought it in an instance.
If you’re mainly photographing birds I would rather save for the OM-1 which is much better. Don’t think you’d notice much difference with the OM-5 and you’d lose some pro capture fps
4kg? Imagine if it was fullframe system 😅 but yeah, a main reason why I switched to olympus, was the weight and size. Om1 with oly 100-400mm weighs only 1.7kg. Fullframe with 150-600mm would weigh about 3x that 😬 I have a friend wildlife photographer who's considering the om5 as secondary house 😊
😂😂 I know, would be heavy indeed! I’ve actually been trying the OM-5 for wildlife today and I’m very impressed. I will do a little video on using it for wildlife as well. Thanks 🙂
Interesting video. I think I will stick with my EM1mkIII for now, but might drop from 40-150 f2.8 to 4-=0-150 f4 to save some more weight. I note you are using a PD strap - the full size or the lite version? I have a disabled arm and find it increasingly difficult to use my PD capture clip and this looks a good alternative .
I also traded the 40-150 F2 for the F4. The only slight nag is that the F4 does not support the Tele-convertor. But the weight savings and size is worth it.
@@ianjefferson694 I will find out about the 40-150 f4 this weekend, as my new lens has just arrived. I was aware of the non-compatibility with tele-converters. I wish OMDS would bring out a 100-200/250 f4 to complement the 12-100 f4, which is my workhorse lens. Pan Leica do a 50-200 but it does not allow features such as procapture to work on Olympus bodies.
Hi Espen, cool video! My "ordinary" travel gear without wildlife photography is OM-1 with 12-100mm/4.0 Pro. Perfect for city trips or hiking. Question: Does the OM-5 has the new EVF of the OM-1? For me that was one of the several "wow" moments with the OM-1 coming from the E-M1ii
I press left on the pad, then I can move the focus point or turn the dial to change the pattern/size. You could set it so that it would move by pressing any of the d-pad buttons. I mostly tend to focus and recompose instead of moving the focus point around.
Funny to see a camera with water on it in several shots! 😊 Almost all about the photo side; so you use for video other than a bit of vlogging? Would love to see how it works when used mostly for that.
Thank you for this! I'm wanting to upgrade my old EM1 mkii - mostly for macro. I'm thinking the EM-5 may be a good option - OM-1 WAY out of budget range :-( P.S. What are you filming this video on? Lovely colours!
Thank you 🙂 I filmed this mostly with the OM-1 and a bit with a GoPro 10 when I was walking about. If you want a smaller camera it could be a good option for you.
Espen, I appreciate that you're only doing what you're contractually obligated to do as a brand ambassador (fancy word for salesperson). The OM-5 is a product OM Systems wants to sell, we get that. And Olympus has a script for selling it that you need to stick to. It's just that the OM-5 makes almost no sense at all with its value proposition for almost every potential buyer of a Micro Four Thirds camera. It's essentially a castrated E-M1III put into an irrelevantly smaller, inferior quality body. And it's not even that the OM-5 is considerably cheaper. The recommended retail price for the E-M1III is only USD100 more compared to the OM-5. Why would anyone buy the inferior OM-5?! Here is a feature-by-feature comparison of the E-M1III to the OM-5 with data from Olympus/OM System: Same sensor. E-M1III: TruePic IX image processor OM-5: Same TruePic IX image processor E-M1III IBIS: 7 stops body only OM-5 IBIS: 6.5 stops body only Same outdated EVF, however E-M1III has closer eye diopter adjustment range Same rear display Same focus system Same metering system Same mechanical focal plane shutter E-M1III does Flickr Scan for stills 1/50.0 ~ 1/7634, OM-5 only 1/50.0 to 1/6944 E-M1III drive mode is better, sequential shooting up to 15fps in mechanical shutter, OM-5 only does 10fps More annoyingly, OM-5 only does up to 30fps in ProCapture, E-M1III does 60fps. Flash basically works the same on both, however the E-M1III supports many more Olympus branded flash models officially, also in wireless flash control. Same white balance features. Same bracketing and stacking system. Same HDR feature. Same keystone compensation feature. Same fisheye compensation feature. Same Live ND feature, however OM-5 max shutter speed is 1/60s, E-M1III is 1/30s. E-M1III does 80MP tripod High-Res, OM5 only 50MP. Same Live Bulb mode. Same Live Compositie mode. Same Interval mode. Same aspect ratio crops. Same video specifications. Same sound recording specifications. Same WiFi feature. More or less the same weather sealing, E-M1III is IP53, OM-5 is IPX1, both are specified for identical operating environments. E-M1III has USB C, OM-5 Micro USB (WTF, OM System?!?!), E-M1III has better Input/Output ports, especially for audio. E-M1III ships with a battery charger, the OM-5 does not (WTF, OM System?!) The menu system is identical. The E-M1III features a magnesium solid body, the OM-5 does not. The grip on the E-M1III is better as well. -- Clearly, the E-M1III is a considerably better camera at an almost identical price. Buy the E-M1III for as long as OM System has stock - once stock runs out, you can get it used in excellent condition with warranty from retailers such as MPB or KEH. The OM-5 is a bit of a scam in my opinion - at the very least it's a poor value proposition and a bit dishonest as describing it having "new" features.
Hi Espen, hello to you both, Janet asked me the other day if I had seen any of your work lately and I was looking at this year's calendar again. I noticed the introduction of this new camera the other day and wondered how useful if would be, now I do think that the size and weight advantages of this system overshadow the now really minor image quality benefits of the Fujifilm system that I do have and almost wish I had taken the plunge myself!. I have sort of forgotten about the weight factor because I have not been out much myself this year!, life take many twists and turns and my enthusiasm for photography has rather subsided!, perhaps I am getting too old and too lazy!. I am very glad that you are so keen and competent, while you do come across as an OM fanboy in your case I am sure it is due to the real good impressions the gear is making. Cheers, Richard.
Hi Richard, good to hear from you, hope both you and Janet are well. Sorry to hear the passion for photography has gone away a bit, that used to happen to me as well, it used to go in waves until I started taking it very serious 🙂 it’s good to mix it up sometimes, find different subjects and genres. We’re good, on a trip to Norway just now and will be going out for photography a few times this week so I’m hopeful it’ll be good. Say hi to Janet, hope you both have a nice winter 🙂
It’ll work for any type of photography, but depending on how serious you are there will be other cameras that has improved auto focus and subject tracking like the OM-1.
Nice camera.. But very hard to get why no USB-C... and also no power delivery while in use from an external source. Video specs very restricted and yes.. that battery...
The fact it uses the same battery as the EM10 was a relief and I have 3 of them and use a separate charger. Not a lot of money in making cameras nowadays and probably they have to skimp somewhat. It is always surprising how something that works for ages becomes a problem. My EM10 II does not even use micro USB but the proprietary Olympus connector. It is a wonder how us people using these cameras can cope with such hardships and trauma! Swapping batteries out and charging them externally is anyhow just a lot more convenient. I do worry about heat in such a small bodies charging internally with the battery enclosed especially using USB C.
The camera features are great, except you cannot use the ND filters mode for videos, its only for stills. Of course the main issue with OM-5 is the fact that it looks and feels really cheaply made. If you held the E-M1 II or E-M5 III or E-M10 III and then hold the OM-5 you'll see what I'm talking about. the OM-5 looks and feels like a $300-500 camera, however it is packed with many great features.
Think about if OM could produce a 100-400/5,6-8, like the canon RF lens (below 700 grams)!!!! That lens has got way better IS than the Olympus 100-400 and is sharper and has even better Macro abillities! That would be a real game changer. It would be perfect to pair with a light camera and some other light lenses for backpacking, Today Canons ligthweight setup is even lighter than OM system´s. (Even if you choose Canon R7 as your camerabody with it´s relative low price and magnificent subject tracking that outperforms the subject tracking of the OM-1). The big advantage for for the Om setup (with a 100-400 wildlife lens) is of course the weather resistance. But sometimes you want a light set up that you could (if you need) protect with a cheap rain cover. /Om-1 shooter and R7 shooter
Between the OM-5 and the Lumix G95 - which one would you choose? What are the deciding factors for you? (Anyone who is reading this is welcomed to answer. It is difficult for me deciding between the two, and any feedback or perspectives on this choice could be helpful.)
The biggest issue of Olympus system was lossing the focus. That was the reason why i grave up Olympus. Not sure if it solved the issue today but i suppose Not.
This ”new” om5 made me to sell my em1m2 gear/kit I had from 2019. Luckily it was used kit so it did not hurt much. It would take another 4years to wait next improvement in 2nd hand plastic bodies. So been there and done that. Mostly aged AF and iso plus nerd features I do not never used.
I think you could save money buying the Olympus em5iii or even em5ii, both still available. There is no improvement in sensor or processor. The Om5 looks like a barely disguised remake of that Olympus model. I have the em5ii and I am happy to have it as my backup now that I have the OM-1 as one of my main cameras. I like to do mostly birds and wildlife but the old Olympus is still good for scenery. Still prefer my full frame DSLRs but as I get older the smaller lighter systems are very appealing when I can’t work from the car! Enjoy your videos and your images very much. 😄
Thanks, I’ve tried the em5iii a few years back and was very impressed. I like the new features of the OM-5 though and especially weather sealing will be important if I’m going to use it as a vlogging camera. I tried it out for wildlife today and I’m very impressed, might do a little video in that as well. Good to have a vlogging camera that can at an emergency be a backup wildlife camera 🙂
I get it in a second except for the 'flippy' screen, i'm so tired of camera makers doing this for nearly every camera. I don't do video and hate to have to look right to see when I'm shooting what is in front of me. enough already, then even stuck one of these on the Nikon Zf
@@EspenHelland Espen, the E-M1III is irrelevantly bigger than the OM-5. No matter what bag/carry system you put it into, both cameras will take up the same space in your bag. And you get an actual magnesium solid body with the E-M1III - plus a lot of other stuff the OM-5 does not have. OM-5 = E-M1III with cripple hammer applied.
Nice vid. The camera still sadly made out of plastic supporting an old sensor with a few extra features, its basically a dud. That said although not a leap as such it is still quite capable. The plastic body is a deal breaker for me. I still use the 16MP EM5 mk2 and it feels great cause its metal and you know the picture quality is still actually quite good. It was never really ever about the pixel count its about capturing the shot. But for my higher end detailed landscape shots I can use the pixel shift on my EM1 mk2. No starey night focus, but you know I dont spend a lot of time out country in the dark, I do it occasionally but not really my genre.
It's camera not a jewelry, don't see what the case being made of counts for anything. If anything om-5 being IP53-rated means the body is as good as any
This camera retails here in Melbourne for $1900 YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS An OM 1 Mk 2. $1300 I believe OM System don't supply a battery charger with this camera.
The OM-5 is an E-M1 III in the inferior body of the E-M5 III with a $600 discount on the recommended retail price of the E-M1 III - or currently $300 based on the current rebate on the E--M1 III. It's just repackaging an existing model at a cheaper price point. As I have the E-M1 III I can say this is a smart move by OM Digital Solutions. Nice tele-shopping/advertising video, Espen.
Terrible value for money …offers hardly anything better than the em5 mark iii …and this is now discounted to half the price of the OM 5. It’s a worrying release by OM Systems. If this is all they can manage then I fear for the future of the system…OM1 user and also a Canon user.
Thanks for sharing this vid! I plan to upgrade to this OM-5; i have an E-M10 mk3 now
Hey Espen, any word from OM System as to why the old menu? Is it some sort of technical limitation?
I’m not sure, I agree it would have been handy with the new menu on this camera as well.
Oh damn, was just gonna purchase til I heard this! The menu system isn't easy and I note just one button to save preferences, C1 rather than c1-4.

Thanks for the video. This looks like the perfect camera for my photography hobby. Cheers.
What a beautiful location!
2sec exposures handheld, that's crazy. The IBIS in this must be unreal.
Could you share what tripod used for your trips? Thanks for your sharing, enjoy your journey!
Depends how lightweight I want to be. If I’m camping and have way too much to carry I just bring a little Joby. Now I bring the HEIPI mostly
Nice well put together video. Very useful information.
Thank you Michael 🙂
Veldig spennende video.
What did you shoot this video on?? Beautiful picture - Color Grading.
Thanks, mostly the OM-1, but some shots with GoPro 10 and iPhone as well.
Is he preaching to the choir or flogging a dead horse?
I’ve been thinking about buying this camera even though it’s not much of an upgrade from the EM-5. But since I have the EM-1 mkiii and not an EM-5, I think this will be a cool camera to have for travel since it’s smaller than the EM-1
Great review. I have the OM5.2 How is the focus tracking compared to the newest
M1 or my older OM5?
Totally agree with you.
@@weizenobstmusli8232 It is a matter of personal choice and opinion. OM-5 is not worth any consideration for me.
is OM 5 a better choice than my old m1 mark II for bird photography
Thanks 🙂
OM-5は究極のマイクロフォーサーズ選択かもしれない!12-45PROの組み合わせがベスト❤❤❤❤
Interesting video. I think I will stick with my EM1mkIII for now, but might drop from 40-150 f2.8 to 4-=0-150 f4 to save some more weight. I note you are using a PD strap - the full size or the lite version? I have a disabled arm and find it increasingly difficult to use my PD capture clip and this looks a good alternative .
That looks like the lite version Roger. I have both and enjoy the light with a smaller camera.
Very helpful, many thanks
I think it’s the lite PD. Yes I wouldn’t trade the em1iii for this camera unless you really wanted a small camera.
Interesting video. Thanks for sharing your review. I still stick with OLYMPUS OMD EM5 + 75-300mm ii M.Zuiko lens for birding. 😁
It is a wonderful combo to bring always in the bag pack!
This camara is prefect light weight for my travel
amazing small adventure travel camera capable of a lot of things. Perfect for my climbing adventures:)
OM-5 has the viewfinder of E-M5 Mark III with 1.37x magnification and only 60fps refresh rate.
I think the new OM-5 is a nice camera and very capable, however, I have so many OMDs, that a new camera will not improve my photography. Cheers!
i got this for portibility but its so much more
Without having a joy stick on this camera do you use the D-pad to move the focus box around the screen? Can you resize the focus box?
I press left on the pad, then I can move the focus point or turn the dial to change the pattern/size. You could set it so that it would move by pressing any of the d-pad buttons.
I mostly tend to focus and recompose instead of moving the focus point around.
Nice video. Thank you very much.
Excellent advice
Funny to see a camera with water on it in several shots! 😊 Almost all about the photo side; so you use for video other than a bit of vlogging? Would love to see how it works when used mostly for that.
❤❤❤ fantastic information ❤❤❤
this or the M1?
M1?
Here is a feature-by-feature comparison of the E-M1III to the OM-5 with data from Olympus/OM System:
Same sensor.
E-M1III: TruePic IX image processor
OM-5: Same TruePic IX image processor
E-M1III IBIS: 7 stops body only
OM-5 IBIS: 6.5 stops body only
Same outdated EVF, however E-M1III has closer eye diopter adjustment range
Same rear display
Same focus system
Same metering system
Same mechanical focal plane shutter
E-M1III does Flickr Scan for stills 1/50.0 ~ 1/7634, OM-5 only 1/50.0 to 1/6944
E-M1III drive mode is better, sequential shooting up to 15fps in mechanical shutter, OM-5 only does 10fps
More annoyingly, OM-5 only does up to 30fps in ProCapture, E-M1III does 60fps.
E-M1III ships with a battery charger, the OM-5 does not (WTF, OM System?!)
The menu system is identical.
The E-M1III features a magnesium solid body, the OM-5 does not. The grip on the E-M1III is better as well.
--
Clearly, the E-M1III is a considerably better camera at an almost identical price.
Thanks a lot for the comparison, very helpful!
Say hi to Janet, hope you both have a nice winter 🙂
yo lo quiero saber es si me sirve para fotografía deportiva
It’ll work for any type of photography, but depending on how serious you are there will be other cameras that has improved auto focus and subject tracking like the OM-1.
What about build quality? Basically a plastic camera, or?
Yeah a shame about the ND filter not working for video, but makes sense as it works by taking several images and blending them.
So I beg the question. How many batteries do you really carry on a trip?
The slower changing from the micro USB improves battery longevity
There’s already em5 mark 3. Maybe it’s only you who wants to buy this camera 🙂
Between the OM-5 and the Lumix G95 - which one would you choose? What are the deciding factors for you?
(Anyone who is reading this is welcomed to answer. It is difficult for me deciding between the two, and any feedback or perspectives on this choice could be helpful.)
I’ve never tried the LUMIX G95, maybe someone else can give some insights 👇
But having a fixed screen doesn't bother you?
you should've went for the EM1iii same features, dual card slots, better build quality, battery grip. OM-System just received you
Hm, that doesn’t make much sense though as I wanted this camera for the small size. I have an OM-1 as my main.
Cross finger I’m gonna have this after a month
Thanks Espen, but it's not for me. Sticking with Em5 Mk3
Hi,
In my wet dreams there appears a tiny future OM10 with features like this OM5 as a travel camera. My dreams probably won't come true.
If anything om-5 being IP53-rated means the body is as good as any
@@ANTNNG I guess its a personal choice.
This has to be the most positive review on this yawner of an upgrade to the EM5iii ( or downgrade of EM 1iii if you prefer).
So you will get the new camera. Are you paying retail or is OM compensating you?
I won't get this and regret my purchase of the OM-1.
This camera retails here in Melbourne for $1900
YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS
An OM 1 Mk 2. $1300
I believe OM System don't supply a battery charger with this camera.
Its so small, I could never use it :)
Outdated sensor, old menu, old ports… that cam ist 5 years late. Hoped this would be part of a honest review. 😢
Your strap is heavier than the camera 😅
🤣
USB b ….
Terrible value for money …offers hardly anything better than the em5 mark iii …and this is now discounted to half the price of the OM 5. It’s a worrying release by OM Systems. If this is all they can manage then I fear for the future of the system…OM1 user and also a Canon user.
Sure if you don’t need the new features then getting the old one at a steal is a good deal.
Old. Poor autofocus. Old usb..
Why bother?
Because youre an olympus ambassador and theyre paying you.
