Though many newer games are developed for HDR, some older games are SDR only, such as games that use DirectX 11 or DirectX 12. But with Auto HDR, that changes. When you turn on Auto HDR, the color range and brightness is automatically increased to HDR. The game begins in medias res with Roman general Marius Titus leading the defence of Rome against a barbarian invasion. Marius leads the Roman emperor Nero into a safe room. At Nero's behest, Marius begins to tell his life story to the emperor.
Marius begins his story as a Roman legionary serving in the II Legion who returns to the Titus family villa in Rome to visit them before he is deployed to Alexandria. His visit is cut short as a sudden barbarian invasion occurs, resulting in the death of his parents and sister. Commander Vitallion, who served alongside Marius' father, transfers him to the XIV Legion, promising Marius vengeance for the death of his family. Vitallion leads the XIV Legion to the rebelling province of Britannia, where the fleet transporting them is almost destroyed by river chains. Marius' ship is hit by a trebuchet shot, but he survives and leads an attack which destroys the towers holding the chains up, preventing the Roman fleet from being destroyed; an impressed Vitallion promoted him to the rank of centurion. The XIV Legion marches on York, fighting numerous battles with Briton rebels on the way. Upon arriving at York, Marius leads the XIV Legion in an attack against a rebel army, capturing British king Oswald and his daughter Boudica.
The XIV Legion brings Oswald and Boudica before Nero's son Basilius, who forces Oswald to reveal where the Britons have sent Basilius' brother Commodus to. After Oswald informs the Romans that Commodus was traded to the inhabitants beyond Hadrian's Wall, Basilius orders the XIV Legion to march north and bring Commodus back. During the campaign there, a Roman scouting party led by Marius and Vitallion is ambushed by barbarians; Vitallion is captured, while Marius falls into a ravine but survives. Making his way to the main barbarian camp (where they are about to burn a wicker man with Vitallion inside), Marius kills the barbarian leader and rescues Vitallion and Commodus. Returning to York, Marius and Vitallion participate in a peace treaty between the Romans and Britons.

Good story, better ending. Rome lasted for about 800 years, even with terrible emperors as Nero. Actually, most Emperors were pretty terrible. But, one does have great legacy: "Cincinnatus". Farmer turned Emperor and saved Rome from defeat by "Barbarians". Once Rome was safe and secure, he gave up his throne as Emperor, and returned to a life of simple farmer. And who the U.S. city of Cincinnati is named after.

Cincinnato was not an Emperor, he was a Console, made Dittatore pro tempore, many many years before the Imperium, Rome was a Republic.
Rome including the kingdom of Rome, Roman republic, Roman Empire, and Byzantine Empire lasted 2246 years
Also Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus was a consul

It was a good *LOOKING* game for 2013. Everything else was so-so. But the set pieces looked GORGEOUS. That and the Voice Acting by the main character Marius.
I loved this games story. Simple, focused, entertaining, linear, perfect for a game of its scale
The HDR upgrade is amazing! Definitely worth the rewatch.
This game was a launch title for the Xbox One (I believe) and held so much potential. Could have been a very good series where you hunted down traitors and the worst leaders in history

Great graphics that still hold up. Cliché but well executed story. And all around top notch performances from the voice actors. This game deserved more appreciation back when it came out. And man, those animations are satisfying.

The invasion on the beach it’s beautiful and nobody can’t convince me that is not inspired by the D-Day as shown in “Save Private Ryan”.

Tbh after playing Rome 2, play this game in the first person as a single soldier of Rome feel like the battle isn’t that big
Going in with low expectations I finished the game like two days ago, I liked the campaign, yes it was repetitive but the story itself is short so the game ends before it becomes a real problem also the second part of the campaign was great.

Ryse was a pretty decent title that could've been a staple on the future of games in early 2010's but was ruined after being tagged and main features intertwined to/from the Xbox Kinect.

Althought enjoyable to watch the story makes 0 sense.
As with every Crytek game before, it's more of a tech demo than a fun game. Crysis is only remembered because the graphics couldn't be run on most computers when it came out, even though that was due to the Crytek engine being poorly optimized garbage. All these games look good, but don't play good. I've never met anyone who has played Crysis or Ryse, and if they have, it was only one playthrough. They aren't very engaging games. However, I loved Ryse on my Xbox One, even though it was a whole lot of nothing.
