I went there on a tour in July 2014, six months before Obama opened up relations. My mouth just dropped seeing the actual house, the amazing grounds, the Pilar dry-docked and his dog's graves. What an experience.
Ann was great, we got left with sleezy Matt who done himself in. The Hemingway House is gorgeous and Ernest' will takes care of all those cats and their descendants.
i was there in 2000. very impressed. good to see history first hand af the writer. he loved cuba, and so do i. he was greatly inspired by the country. yet he was forced to leave , a rather unspoken truth, and then he met his demise, sadly in idaho shortly after.

No, it belongs to a historic preservation trust set up by the Cuban government. The multi-million dollar restoration done over the past 20 years or so was a joint effort by conservators from the US and Cuba working together on site. I am so glad that differences were set aside to make this happen. I wish I could get to Cuba to see the Finca. Mariel goes there like a tourist, same as you or me. The only difference is, because she is family, she gets to go inside.

This is great thx.
One of my favorite 20th century american writers. I wrote a couple of papers on Hemingway in college.
Beautiful home.

Lucky, lucky you! I'm envious. Thank you to Mariel Hemingway for sharing this with us. I love his homes.
which books did he have in the library?
The Old Man and the Sea was not inspired by his boat Pilar... the story surrounds a Cuban in a skiff.
Thank you, yes. Granddaughter should know this.
Hemingway was like a father for Cuban. The cubans called to Hemingway (Papa).
They called him that because EVERYONE called him that. It was his nickname even when he was still in Paris.
@@helenholt1161 actually, the ones who did not "idolize" the papa persona, called him Ernesto.
he also had a great love for killing innocent animals
what is an innocent animal? I guess the meat companies murder 1000s of cows daily....
It’s called hunting and it’s very fun

What a great video! Mariel Hemingway seems to be such a nice and grounded person. I need to visit this place, un de ces jours...
When Mariel talks all I hear is the 17 year old from Manhattan.
I like this Hemingway young lady ❤️
Hemingway donated only his Nobel Prize medal to Cuba, as I understand, not the money.
Ann was great, we got left with sleezy Matt who done himself in. The Hemingway House is gorgeous and Ernest' will takes care of all those cats and their descendants.
That house belongs to The Heminways not to the castros
great video.thankyou

he wrote standing up because he had cronic back trouble.
And hemorrhoids,
Ernest despised Castro, especially after solders murdered his pets in 1960.
Wow
Mariel is pure class
Natalie Morales....makes anything better.
