Dr. Visnjevac is a calm and very calculated doctor. I subscribe to his channel and have learnt so much about my spine options. Indeed I live with grade 1 Spondylolistheses with pars defect on the left side L5/S1. I am currently awaiting major spine surgery; L5/S1 fusion with decompression. I am somewhat concerned about metal hardware (TLIF) being put into my back unless this is the only option? Though I understand that the sliding motion that might be now occurring at this level is aggravating the root nerve within the reduced opening in the foramen but also causing inflammation on the facet joints. Have asked to try Nerve Block injection and maybe Nerve Root Ablation before going for the major surgery? Though sadly the surgeon feels that this will be a waste of time in the long run! In many ways I am now running out of options. Though sadly my research suggests that the TLIF can lead to complications and potentially more ops further down the line. It is ironic to say, but around 10 years ago I sat down on a seat and felt my spine shift. In fact I heard the clonk. Prior to this I think my back had been trying to naturally fuse and heal, but sadly this failed.

Why is your doctor giving you fusion with only grade 1? That's what I have and everything I've read says surgery isn't recommended at this point
