One of the best overall RUclips video; slow talking, every single step explained in fine details: from how to remove each cover to replace the bulbs to replace the covers. Very very well done guys. Cheers
for those who are replacing their vanity mirror lights, the right side comes out the same as the left( do not pry from the right side of the right light)
I did it! Got the lights and went to it. Also, this is the best vid demo. Did my headlights and "fog" lights as one was broken. Did not do a full install, so no independent "fog" lights switch.
Vital! When removing lamps from Map Lights be careful not to twist the bulbs as this will release the socket and it will fall into the fixture necessitating a removal of the fixture to retrieve the sockets. Sockets look like little discs. Heads up!
Don't skip the step about removing at the two anchor points. I already had removed mine before watching and thankfully I could bend them back! thank you!
Excellent presentation, the only problem I had was the reversing light. Some how the globe came lose and fell into the taillight assembly. Ended up having to take the taillight assembly off to get the globe out otherwise all good.
My dome lights innmy 2011 rave 4 are not this style, the are the fuse style double ended ones... hopefully the light cover can be removed the same way though
Question. While trying to get the map lights out, I twisted and the whole assembly went up into the headliner. Any suggestions on how to get them out??
Good video but in my 2009 Toyota RAV4 the wiring was reversed on the vanity lights with wiring coming in from the window side. I should have pried it out from the inside edge and not the window edge. Good think I didn't damage anything in the process....
On my 2008 RAV4 thhe bulbs in the map light fixture are held in place with a small plastic ring clip that falls off, and inside the fixture assembly, and is impossible to retrieve. No illustration of what to do once this happens. Can I pull out the whole assembly, retrieve the clips and re-install with the new LED bulbs in place or am I screwed?
@@lparch Did that and resolved the problem but Precision's very helpful video showing how to replace all the bulbs in my RAV did not mention the little ring clips and the necessity to avoid twisting the bulb on removal. I eventually found confirmation that I could remove the fixture, retrieve the clips and finish the job.
I did the same thing in the wife Rav. Freaked out. Looked at videos to see you have to yank the whole assembly out with a bit of force and then fix the lamp holder after that.
Another tip, I when you’re doing the bulbs on the centre console, don’t remove the black bits that hold the bulb in place! They rotate and can drop away. If you do, here’s the video on how to remove the whole console to find them again 😄 ruclips.net/video/QLUPlJLcmSs/видео.html&si=TTTl2asHEJUZhpvR
I need to replace one front map light and one vanity light in my 2007 RAV4. Can you please tell me the part number of the bulb to buy? Also, I understand there are several options: incandescent, LED, and halogen. Can you recommend which one I would want? Thank you.
The vanity lights and map lights would both use a T10 bulb, which you can find here: www.precisionled.com/premium-t10-canbus-6smd-5730-led.html We sell LEDs in two different color options, 6000k crystal white and 8000k cool white. If you have halogen bulbs currently installed in your RAV4 I would suggest replacing both bulbs so that they will be the same color and brightness.
@@vlewin1844 2825 = T10. The map light would use the same size bulb as the vanity light, but if you are talking about the dome light, that would use a festoon type such as the DE3175, which you can find here: www.precisionled.com/premium-festoon-29mm-canbus-3smd-5730-led.html
this was helpful. I also liked that you showed which panel tools to use. I have a whole set and never really knew how to make use of them. everyother video shows it using a screw driver but it's much easier amd safer (for me and the car) when using the right panel tools.
Thank you for your interest. No, as long as your vehicle's battery is performing efficient, you will have no problem with our LEDs, as we sell very high quality, Canbus products, which require very little power from your vehicle's battery.
Hi, thanks for your video. My RAV 4 is 2010 with run-flat tires. My plate is at the center of back door and now one of the plate light is broken. Do you know how to replace it? Thanks,
there is a screw holding it in place. Use a Philip's screwdriver to remove the screw and the light housing will drop down. Twist the housing a quarter turn and it will unlock the bulb form the housing. Pull out the bulb and replace it with the LED.
I apologize for the confusion. For the 2013+ you would install this kit: www.precisionled.com/toyota-rav4-premium-led-interior-package-2013-present.html
WORD OF ADVICE: Do yourself a favor and before installing the dome light, spread out a blanket across the rear seats. I butterfingered that bulb more than a few times, and one of those times it dropped in between the seats and down into the runners. I then spent a good 10+ minutes disassembling the rear seat to find the bulb. Very frustrating for an otherwise super smooth installation.
For anyone who is looking for this for a 2005, this isn't for you. The 3rd gen starts at 2006, and only the vanity lights and tailgate lights are the same as this video for the 2005 model.
Thank you for the suggestion. We will keep an eye out for another Rav4 out here in Los Angeles to shoot the fog lights installation. Subscribe for updates!
Fog lights are a bit complicated. I've been changing them since 2007 though. The first time took me 45 minutes per light. You need to turn the wheel so it's not obstructing the panel for the wheelwell then take off the pins pinning the plastic wheel well together. Then while holding that plastic panel aside, put your bulbs or "light-kit" in. Takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, it could take less than 10 minutes to replace a bulb when needed.
Yes, the installation process is virtually identical to as show in the video. However, you would purchase this kit (www.precisionled.com/toyota-rav4-premium-led-interior-lights-kits-2001-2005.html) as opposed to the kit linked in the description.
Thank you for your interest. I do believe that your footwell lights would be stock LED, which you cannot replace, as they are soldiered to a chip and board. However, if this is not the case, if you can send us over a photo of your physical bulb, we can recommend a compatible replacement, as well as some possible installation tips. You can email help@precisionled.com.
