Saw Mel in concert way back on September 5th, 1977 at the Lakeview Park in Royersford, Pa. Great show. I still have the tickets. I remember one of the Statesiders couldn't keep his eyes off of my wife who is as gorgeous today as she was that night.
To my boss and I truly mean my words. Thanks for not giving me time off to go see Mel Tillis in Branson Missouri, and thank u for all the times you spoke to all workers in a mean voice. Many concerts missed by many of my friends. You knew Mel was my favorite.NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN RETIRED FOR SOME TIME NOW AND NOTHING U CAN DO ABOUT MY PENSION, I THOUGHT ABOUT U WHEN I HEARD MEL TODAY I CAN TELL U U OLD COOT KISS MY ASSSSSSSSSSSS. TWICE

Does anyone know who is playing steel guitar on this song? It is breathtaking.
I looked but the only info is a recording date of May 14 1969. The last mention is in 1967 and Pete Drake played on that session.
