I would give anything to have that engine in my pickup. In the meantime can someone design an electric timed solenoid to attach to my throttle to simulate blower surge? ;)
I thought about building a an electric motor with a cam lobe to bolt into a 4150 series carb that would create a "blower surge" topped off with noisy timing gears. Never did it. But it's a cool idea. Especially for people that like to hear it but can't drop$15000 into an engine.
Sounds good. I guess the straps from the exhaust to intake are for when it grenades. I have seen them on top feul cars. Never been around them that much.
Yes, it is to keep the blower from flying off and injuring someone during a race. Most people don't use them but like having a diaper on your engines they are good safety precautions. No harm to have them all the time.
From what I've seen on RUclips you Aussies put these huge blown motors in small cars and just do donuts until the tires are gone or the car starts on fire LOL
@@charlesparr3296 yup. Truth be told, as cool as blower surge is it's not great for the motor. Running EFI eliminates it (or retains it if ur into that)

Thanks for your input but there is a few details you don't seem to be aware of. Yes, we SPONSORED Billy's engine so we would have fixed it for free no matter what happened to it. We talked to him immediately after it broke on Saturday (in July 2022 and you fan boys are still blasting us over it) and we cleared the schedule for him to bring it up on Tuesday. If you watch the video he admits that we were taking care of him. Just like we had in the past. Yes, the crank failed just like Steve Morris crank failed last week. you can watch it here at this link by coping and pasting it. (ruclips.net/video/_RvNt8qWMgc/видео.html) Yes, things happen this is the big boy racing club. Are you going to go blast Steve Morris too? He made a mistake and it destroyed this guys engine. And yes, he is fixing it just like we would have. On another note, if Billy had a diaper on his car would not have had any body damaged. We told him to put a diaper on it and he said no. If Billy had brought his car up on Tuesday we would have had him fixed in a few weeks. Originally, he posted that the rod came through the oil pan so we thought we were replacing his rods. But Billy made a mistake when he posted on social media that the rod broke while he was still at the track. He had no idea what happened but he spoke without knowing the facts. I guess he can make mistakes but no one else. But when I misspoke about who balanced the crank I was a liar. I should not have said anything until the paperwork was in front of me but I made a mistake and spoke before I checked. In reality, what does it matter who balanced it? We built it we would fix it. I wasn't trying to cover anything up I wasn't in the shop during his build due to a motorcycle accident. Billy knew I was injured and it took me a year and a half to recover. Billy had no compassion for what I went though or that I was lucky to even be alive. There is a lot of things I don't remember from that time. So because Billy got offended due to what he took as a lie instead of a mistake, he chose to walk away from his contract and all the perks that came with it including getting any parts he wanted for the falcon and S10 at our cost. He also said multiple time the nova was the fastest car he had ever driven and he won $10,000 with it right off the bat. Who walks away from that? So do me a favor, don't get so involved in social media drama. He is the one that refused to let us fix the engine for free. He also had no problem walking away from our contract and all the perks that came with it. He made plenty of money by posting all of this to his social media pages.
It's the amount of air that comes in through the rotors that are driven off the crank, so depends on the amount of degrees you have which is the amount of air that creates that surge ,it's almost like a person running track and having to breathe harder to run faster!!
@@kenturner2946 ,Thank You for your information, I am building my first blower motor ,that will be setup very mild ,more show than go , I do not like blower surge ,What can I do to not have any blower surge ?
@@gregschultz2029 My understanding of blower surge is it is due to the motor going rich/lean constantly at idle - gulp of air, gulp of fuel - an EFI system doesn't do that - so that's one option - cam grind can also cause some of that - higher lobe separation calms it down - upping the idle will make it go away - but then it's idling at 1500+rpm - LOPE. You can also tune it a little leaner at idle, just watch your AFR (if you are running one) to make sure you don't go too far. On drag race motors, it's because there is no accelerator pump on mechanical injection with a hat - so you have to run them rich at idle so they snap to life and not go lean when you hammer the throttle. if you are running an automatic, make sure your torque converter is high stall otherwise you will be riding the brakes and heating up the tranny to try to keep it from moving. Or, just learn to enjoy it!
I can't believe they have that set up with that much horsepower with carbs instead of fuel injection unless you're the guy with the screwdriver who probably has to constantly adjust that thing which could be a real big pain in the ass switch that over to fuel injection and then they have a monster on their hands!!
