Bitly or bit.ly links have become increasingly common around social media and via email. As you are effectively clicking blindly and unaware of where the link leads, many of these links are masking dangerous software on the other end. Never click on hidden links unless you know where it leads!
Thanks for watching!

This is a great example for "we need more people like you"
:D! Thanks for watching

Hello, thank you very much for your instructional video. It was very good. Please leave this collection of videos. Thank you.
No matter what, people shouldn't click links at all unless they know 100% that it isn't a malware link. Even if it is from you closest friends or a verified page on Instagram or Twitter, people get hacked.
I totally agree!
I completely agree with you, a lot of things can hurt ... even when you are sure that everything is fine.
Another useful tip to uncover shortened links is to use a link unshortener. With this you can see the original link without clicking it
Great tip!! I wish I had included that in the video, thanks!
Can I recommend a good one
He was born in Venice, Italy in 1254. In 1272, when he was only 17 years old, he travelled to Asia with his father and uncle. The journey was very long. They visited a lot of places and saw wonderful things: eye glasses, ice-cream, spaghetti and the riches of Asia.
I had no idea this was a thing. Definitely going to be more careful about those kinds of links in the future. Thank you!
Oh it's a thing alright. I see it almost daily. Thanks!
You ever use your pc?
@@minke9246 You ever mind your own business?
Someone that I don't know sent me a bitly link, saying that I won a price.
I just wanted to check what was it.
Thank u so much for the information :)
It's almost certainly a scam, glad you didn't click.
Appreciate the "heads-up" on this one. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure......"
Thank you for feeling me about this. Now I will never open unknown links, because they can be dangerous for me.

Thank you very much on how to decode the link. Ive been accidentally clicking the same link every time and i found out that it was just an ad link so the person that made that link made money without being involved in any sponsors. Thank you very much. Im realeaved now
Thanks. I almost clicked one. But I remember someone told me that one bitly was a ip grabber, so I decided to watch this. Thanks for the help!
Yeah good point. To me it's just shocking how many people use these links and think they're completely safe and/or okay to use. It just screams unwise.
I clicked on a bit ly link and it brought me to a RUclips channel am I in danger
@@GNJ-ri4tt No, I don't think so. If it brought you straight-linked there then no.
@@JoshChristiane i clicked on a link, could i be in danger?
@@slep6431 Where did it lead to? I hope not. Anything is possible of course.
Really great quality, it’s better than a lot of big youtubers
Thank you! I'll keep working on improving as well, wherever I can. Thanks for watching!

A beautiful and very useful video, it is wonderful, and I will do it as an example for me, because it represents me sometimes and a lot of times has benefited from a lot of these videos. It is beautiful content
thanks this video saved me from clicking a rickroll video by clicking the bitly links
Thanks for informing us. I was going to click on one Bitly Link but now I won't click
Good idea! :) 👍🏻
A very useful and explanatory video. People need to know exactly which link and where they are going. This process should be controlled, and not click and you don't know where.
Thank you!!
Its completely safe to click on bitly links if you know how to do so correctly
Absolutely agreed.
LinkedIn post links could also be a concern. 🤔 Basically, be careful with any link.
Thank you very much for your comments.. for explaining the valuable things
So nice of you, thank you for watching and enjoying :))
I agree with all the comments that now and in the future too, it is very dangerous to open unknown links. Guys, share the video so that people know. Thanks for the interesting information. I will have it too. Everything was explained clearly and clearly.

There are so many links that you can click but it can be harmful or not and you don't know

I'm glad you know now and can prevent viruses or malware.

Thx I got a message that said to click the link because I won a give away so I came here, this guy saves lives
I hate stuff like that so much, glad you're safe!
Such a presentation of information is especially important for children and the elderly, who like to click on different links several times and can bring any virus into their computer. Important information. Thank you for this informative video
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your kind comment, I totally agree with you. More kids and elderly especially need to know to watch out.
You are undoubtedly right. A person is inquisitive by nature, and in children and the elderly this quality is more pronounced. Thank you for a very informative video.
I got DM'd by a small business. They wanted me to promote them by sharing a bitly link. Thankfully you came in to save me, lol.
I've had the exact same thing happen. I told them no unless they change the link, and they refused and insisted I click it.
@@JoshChristiane They sent the original link just a few hours ago, it's a pretty nice website but my gut says that I shouldn't continue the deal.
@@dixr8698 There are LOTS of legit companies using Bitly links, so to be fair to them it doesn't indicate they're scammers. But your gut may be basing that on their attitude, language, the deal itself and other factors. Always trust your gut with stuff like that.

Thanks for sharing. I just hang up on those calls and block the number/report it as spam to Google or Apple.
thanks for the information, it is very useful to avoid phishing links
Thank you :) Have a great day and stay safe!
I see many of videos with bitly links in the description saying: "DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK" Why would you put a malicious link and tell someone not to click it? Don't put it there in the first place.
I mean that's a good point, that makes absolutely no sense.
Thank you for the quick-important information. Very helpful

Wow the website will be very good because the link we see is long but with this it helps
pov: you were taken here by a bitly link
Oh nooo, hahaha. Hopefully not... I'll admit that would be a hilarious troll though.
I accidentally clicked on this link, but on a trusted RUclipsr with 800k Subs. What now?
I'm sure it's not an issue if you clicked on a link from a highly trusted source. Unless it was a fake account or something, I wouldn't worry about it unless the site it led to was malicious.
Useful video and information. Indeed, now it is dangerous to go to different links, except that a very good antivirus, it is still better not to take risks.
Thanks :)
Wow very excited about this

hello, very informative video. In the future, I will be more careful with links.
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative video
Some scammer started texting me today and told me to click it like I was born yesterday 😂
Glad you were smart enough to see through their garbage. I got a text a few days ago asking me to send them a code to "their" google account, and it was them trying to log into my google account and get the authentication code. I kept sending them the wrong code to troll them. Obviously I'd never fall for that, but it's sad that the less tech savvy (typically the elderly) are victims to scams like that. Makes me so mad.
@@JoshChristiane I trolled them too, 😂They don’t like when you play along. Thanks to you I know the (plus) method. Greatly appreciated!
People should not click on links unless they know 100% that it is not malware. Even if they are referred by people we know, or from a verified page on Instagram or Twitter, we are all exposed to hacking.
You're absolutely right.
Thanks, Brother for the great information stay safe

Thank you! Some random person sent me a bitly link i was about to click it but then i got sketched out and i searched it up :)
Well it's a good thing you searched before clicking. Some of them are viruses, glad you didn't get one!
@@JoshChristiane :D
I clicked on it. I’m actually scared now. Never going to click on anything like that again. How do I know if I got a virus??..thanks for helping btw!
It happens, a lot of times people just click stuff not realizing it can be dangerous. Whether you got a virus or not can sometimes be very obvious, or in many cases it can be impossible to tell. How long were you on the page? Did the page download anything? Did your browser notify you with a warning? Check the download history in the browser, and then check your browser extensions to make sure nothing got installed there. Even then you can't know for sure. Run a virus scan, and make sure your firewall is on. Firewall and virus scans really don't help in many cases, as often the people developing virus' are the same people building the antivirus software to cure it, so they know all the tricks to get deep into registry. I highly recommend you run "hitmanpro" virus cleaner, there is a free one time download to clean your computer, check that out, they're the most effective company I've found for that sort of thing. Backup all of your important files as well, but do the backup manually and while disconnected from the internet so it doesn't migrate the virus onto your separate drive. Just move your important stuff manually onto a flash drive for now. Then you could always do a Windows Refresh or full format if you're afraid your registry has been messed with.
@@JoshChristiane thank you so much because I tapped in one thinking it would take me to a channel but it took me to a bitly page that said "oh no there was a 404 error" and it wouldn't load the link and no it didn't say anything was downloaded so I think there's no virus?
@@ItzFinnleyy You should be fine. A download notification will no always be present, however, so do be aware of that.
@@JoshChristiane I tapped on a bit ly on my phone and it was by a trusted youtuber. Should I be worried?
@De Patrick Pixels Ccleaner isn't really designed for viruses btw. But it's great for clearing cookies and generic file boilerplate stuff. I use it a lot to clean registry.
Thank you. Really great quality! excellent information on working with shortened links, an accessible explanation.

What will happened if i pressed on it and didn't do anything on the web and just exit?
High likelihood nothing happened. Just run your antivirus to be sure. I like HitmanPro a lot, I find their system catches the most stuff, and cleans the best. Just my opinion though.
Hi there friends, I'm having problems with my gmail which is sending bitly links to other persons !!
Can somebody tell me how to stop this ?
That happens when your email is compromised. Which means somebody (or more likely a bot) has access to your account. Reset your password immediately, and make sure 2FA is turned off if it's on. If 2FA is on then they also gained access to your phone which is a huge concern. If it's off then turn it on and you should be safe. Most likely your 2FA is off and they gained access through your password being leaked. Leaks do happen and you have to change your passwords periodically when they do. I recommend the app "Bitwarden" for online password management if you need a tool like that.
@@JoshChristiane They most likely accessed due to browser cookies.
