The paint issues aren’t a huge issue for me, I just need an articulated mothra and larva in my collection. I mostly want the larva which is kinda lame that the only way to get a mothra larva is in two different two-packs this set is the better of the two in my opinion because I don’t care too much for battra larva
Ceadeus or hell, Leo's Mother, she is at least sligthly difrent, just give it sligthly larger wings, larger antena and longuer legs, vuala a Rebirth of Mothra version
Real sad to see this line going downhill. The first SHMA I got was the Mothra + Battra larva combo pack, followed by MKG and GMK Goji, which were all great, save for some QC issues on the right head of MKG. (I could show you photos if you'd like, they're the... spikes on the side of the head? Dunno what to call them) But now... such horrendous QC issues on stuff like this make me worry about what the Poster Version Mechagodzilla and Monster Planet Godzilla will be like when I get them...
R.I.P SHMA. I got so pissed when I saw all the issues I got. And I feel especially bad for everyone that's having a difficult time trying to get their issues sorted out with Bandai. This line is down right laughable at this point
I wish S.H. MonsterArts had more serious competition these days, besides the occasional NECA figure. At this point I would have more faith in Hasbro than I would in Bandai.
The only reason you should maybe (not really) get this set instead of the og figure is because She comes with blasts, and a larva. And on amazon she’s just a few bucks more than the og mothra but I’m just gonna get the og mothra.
I really enjoy your channel a lot. You do a lot of great figure reviews and videos, but I honestly feel like you were harsh on this one. I think that in a vacuum you are correct about price-to-performance from Bandai. At this price-point, the quality should be better; however, they are the only ones making a Mothra. If I want a Mothra where else can I go? I didn't get into Monsterarts until last year, so before this release if I wanted Mothra in both forms, it would have cost me around $350 EBAY. You say in the review to buy the original instead, but the price-difference is extreme. Would you pay $350 for the original versions? The Larva-form original-release is $100 on its own, current 2nd-hand prices. I'm happy to have these special-color versions for $120, rather than the originals for almost three-times that. I honestly thought I would never be able to have a Monsterarts Mothra because of the 2nd-hand marked-up prices. You actually seem a little emotional at the end talking about the decline of the Monsterarts line, but I'm just as emotional when I think about how I finally have a Mothra to sit on my shelf next to Godzilla, Ghidorah, and Rodan. Mothra was the last of big-four old-school Godzilla-figures I was missing. I feel like you forgot about us new guys in your review. That being said, don't worry, I'm still a big fan of your channel!
This video really reinstates the sad sad state of post 2014 Monsterarts. And dude, don't bother with SG. As it's a favourite of yours it will be bitter to swallow (Especially what they are asking for it.) Save yourself that misery. Because that's the vibe I got from this "Dissection" so to speak.
Very late but kinda shocked how a set of this quality (or lack there of) at the cheapest I've seen is around the same price I got for my Kiryu. Was considering getting it but now I'll wait for them to release Showa Era Mothra.
DARN IT. I was hoping this would be better than the original...T T looks like I am never gonna get a SH MonsterArts Mothra anytime soon. Without breaking the Bank anyway. Well, Breaking it more than usual. Lol.
Thumbs up. Man, I'm growing considerably sad about the state of SHMA. I can't blame you for losing the enthusiasm, when it's clear Bandai doesn't give a fuck anymore. I still plan to get some of the upcoming figs, but yeah...I'm not holding my breath for exciting announcements anymore.
Steven's Toy Reviews hopefully they will make a sh monsterarts Godzilla 2004 cus it my most favorite Godzilla in the millennium series along with godzilla 2000
When I got mines,it was Soooooo perfect until the second day my mom dropped the adult on accident trying to help me take photos of it.i wanted to sell It but then afterwards i got over it and loved it again.left antenna broke and tail or abdomen isn't straight anymore the last three fall of sometimes when I move it.Her stand kinda broke but still usefull.i lost a piece of her beam, but I still love this.
And my blatant and constant pessimism towards Tamashii proves fruitful yet again. But on that more positive note, yes to more backlog reviews! Especially if they're the revoltech figures! I friggen' love those, and their Showa Mothra is *Leagues* better than this...thing that Bandai just put out.
Ordered mine from a Japanese importer (Nippon Yassan), so you didn't only have to get it through Bandai's web-shop. But it was certainly a limited-run.
For someone like me, any money not spent on monsterarts is money that can instead by spent on other lines like figuarts, storm collectibles, nendoroid and figma. Though it is somewhat sad to see this line continue to sink lower and lower with only mild peaks every now and then.
Should I get the revoltech mothra for my stop motions, or should I get the sh monsterarts mothra? I can't decide which one I should get. You tell me, steven or the commenters.
I would get the original but sadly it is OUT OF PRINT so I am out of options BUT the paint ain't that big of a deal so this is my best option and plus EFFECT PARTS so it's a win win
Out of print is an inaccurate statement. But, you can buy it on the aftermarket just fine. It and the original larva, people are selling the larvae individually from the original set, for the same price as one of these.
Steven's Toy Reviews I get your point but I really don't wanna risk being scammed also I'm kinda lazy. But still a good review but I'm just gonna get this one because I can.
I know this review is super old but I paid aftermarket prices to complete my heisei collection. Its very flimsy, the legs keep popping off, and to add salt to my wounds, I was posing it for pictures, and she falls off the stand and lands on her head and the antenna breaks off. And! Every attempt I make to reattach the antenna with super glue, it’s like the antenna doesn’t stay attach because of the paint and it barely stays on and I basically have useless effect pieces now. But on a positive note, the larva and the imago forms look very nice. Also wondering and now very scared of picking up the Battra set if the mothra is an indication on how that set would treat me.
My friend got that mothra as well and after I looked at his and yours in the review it seems to me like they just repainted the old mothras they couldn't sell. What do you think?
Here's the disappointing part of this figure. For some people, this is the only viable option if you want a mothra figure in your collection. It comes in a two pack with the imago, and it was produced later in the line than the original version, so it's less expensive, and worth the two pack. It's disappointing, and i wish they would have just released the original figure.
One of the worst repaints and sets in the line i have to say. Heck, i think this has got to be worse than the destoroyah evolution set. I mean, u repaint a really good original release of the figure and call it new? Like i know repaints r common when it comes to figures but they should at least be something interesting and are good for their price.
Nevermind QC issues or "SHMA IS DEAD" riffraff, it's just....the concept of this figure is just...bad. Like, the paint is just bad on principle, at least for the Imago. It just looks dark and dull and washed out overrall, and that's not QC, it looked like that on the prototype. This release was clearly just an excuse to reissue Mothra, which I don't have a problem with, but couldn't they have come up with a less ugly concept for a repaint?
A very devastating point In the S.H monsterarts history A lot of repaints All heisei era kaiju Poor quality control Not worth the over $100 prices A devastating blow for the line
Yeah my favorite nitpicker is back with another toy review! I figured things would go this way after the unboxing nor do I blame you. While the issues on my five MonsterArts figures aren't on par with yours it's still a pain to spend so much on a figure that has parts just popping right off at each breath. Considering Bandai's jank and shadiness extend to it's prized Gunpla and DBZ lines I'm probably going to pass on future preorders. P.S. Space Godzilla is tempting tho but Goji Jr. can f right off to wherever their hiding the real Gigan.
+El Blaise >nitpicker Come on dude, paint the for the body across the eyes, joints stuck with paint, or broken joints out of the box for the low low price of $140 or so is just fine?
I think people say that because there's a surprising number of people who don't care about paint issues. I mean, look at it this way, to a an average schmoe who's not a huge collector, your griping about paint issues can seem like you ballooning things out of proportion considering often times they're small things that you need to look closely for on the shelf. I realize it's about quality to price point and it's important to examine these things, but not everyone sees it that way. Personally, I only watch these reviews to check for really bad QC issues or to see if there's problems with the articulation. You couldn't pay me to personally care about hairs on figures.
It is absolutely not fine especially given the prices and the hoops Bandai makes us jump through for many of their products, nor was I trying to make it seem as such I'm just personally amused by the people who call your perfectly valid criticisms nitpicks. A lot of what's happening with the Monsterarts and Figurearts lines is reminiscent of what has been happening with the model kit lines as well and is largely the reason why I don't purchase Gunpla any longer. I've been lucky with my figures (but not so with my models) but I feel like every purchase is a gamble, which is something I don't feel with the other non-Bandai figure lines I've invested in. P.S. My apologies if I ruffled your feathers I meant to put nitpick in quotes but I forgot due to outside interference.
Great review brother!!! It's a damn shame and inexcusable to have all these problems especially when we are paying a premium price. I like the colors on this but refuse to buy one because there are many other ways I'd rather be F@#*ed
The paint issues aren’t a huge issue for me, I just need an articulated mothra and larva in my collection. I mostly want the larva which is kinda lame that the only way to get a mothra larva is in two different two-packs this set is the better of the two in my opinion because I don’t care too much for battra larva
They could've made Leo Mothra as repaint.
But noooo,we get *goddamm night version*
Ceadeus or hell, Leo's Mother, she is at least sligthly difrent, just give it sligthly larger wings, larger antena and longuer legs, vuala a Rebirth of Mothra version
Discount Jotaro well the larva looks like him moar
Or a mothra 1996
It shouldn’t have been a repaint. It should have been the 1964 mothra with the 1964 larva.
Well, at least the larva from this set looks cool.
For the prices they charge for monsterarts figures, the quality control issues are inexcusable.
Ink'd Kaiju Dude yeah there almost comparable to hasbro in the part
honestly looks better then the non-special variant
Real sad to see this line going downhill. The first SHMA I got was the Mothra + Battra larva combo pack, followed by MKG and GMK Goji, which were all great, save for some QC issues on the right head of MKG. Excellent, honest review! Thanks!!! I almost bought this set for too much money!
My jaw dropped when he showed that figure at the end. I've been trying to get my hands on him for years.
Which one? Revoltech Anguirus?
R.I.P SHMA. I got so pissed when I saw all the issues I got. And I feel especially bad for everyone that's having a difficult time trying to get their issues sorted out with Bandai. This line is down right laughable at this point
Super Mariozilla thank you for teaching me how to make building
Dude did you review this? Time to do a bit of channel hopping!
Did you know the human brain actually skips over the second they in your comment, d x? It's interesting
I wish S.H. MonsterArts had more serious competition these days, besides the occasional NECA figure. At this point I would have more faith in Hasbro than I would in Bandai.

A agree with you
And now this one is almost $500 on eBay lol I’m in your position now waiting for a new release or selling my kidney for this one on eBay
This video really reinstates the sad sad state of post 2014 Monsterarts.
And dude, don't bother with SG. As it's a favourite of yours it will be bitter to swallow (Especially what they are asking for it.)
Save yourself that misery. Because that's the vibe I got from this "Dissection" so to speak.
And here I was, hoping for a Tokyo S.O.S. Mothra down the line...
Now, that hope is deader than triceratops testicles.
Max Carroll ...................ew
The Hero becomes the Villain...
Can NECA save us this time?
Doubtful, since they can only make Godzillas.
If Toho did not have them in such a strangle hold. Lol.
Neca is a fucking joke look at how awful their godzilla 2001 atomic breath repaint looks like
LM_84 at least they can paint their figures properly.
+Cybermat47 Eh...If you say so.
Lol.
U can get the revoltech mothra that’s pretty good
And so it begins.
Can't wait for it to go the way of D-Arts.
10:02. 14:50.
Steven... never change
lol I won't
FUCK you
Eric Jones ...Okay, um... why?
+Eric Jones You kiss mommy with that mouth?
The original SHMA Mothra figure is a lot of money on the after market the last time I check.
+Ratchetcomand Roughly $120 still. You can get it and a loose larva someone is selling for $50-60. You'd get a better deal than this.
Deal =\= price.
I'm getting this for Christmas. can't wait!!!

Sup sir peebuns. Wait did we have a fight once🤔🤔🤔
I'm personally hoping/waiting for a gmk mothra release
willd band its gonna get released just dont know when,
When I got mines,it was Soooooo perfect until the second day my mom dropped the adult on accident trying to help me take photos of it.i wanted to sell It but then afterwards i got over it and loved it again.left antenna broke and tail or abdomen isn't straight anymore the last three fall of sometimes when I move it.Her stand kinda broke but still usefull.i lost a piece of her beam, but I still love this.
Dang, so people didn’t like this SHMA Mothra repaint figure but then as the years went on the price has increased to the point that it became rare
Best mothra figure evar
And my blatant and constant pessimism towards Tamashii proves fruitful yet again.
But on that more positive note, yes to more backlog reviews! Especially if they're the revoltech figures! I friggen' love those, and their Showa Mothra is *Leagues* better than this...thing that Bandai just put out.
More like Special Slop version, amirite?
Verklarte Nacht yep as well as part special douche version I mean seriously why does this one get effect parts yet not the original
Ordered mine from a Japanese importer (Nippon Yassan), so you didn't only have to get it through Bandai's web-shop. But it was certainly a limited-run.
They still get it through the Bandai webshop, they just act as a middleman.
For someone like me, any money not spent on monsterarts is money that can instead by spent on other lines like figuarts, storm collectibles, nendoroid and figma.
Though it is somewhat sad to see this line continue to sink lower and lower with only mild peaks every now and then.
Last time he was this pissed it was the Alien Big Chap figure.
Mothra queen of the monsters
Should I get the revoltech mothra for my stop motions, or should I get the sh monsterarts mothra? I can't decide which one I should get. You tell me, steven or the commenters.
Setting the bar for the Battra set's quality at 6 feet under. Is that too high?
+Kiryu KG Yes. Try 10.
Still too high. Try 6459.5
Try 10000000000000000000000000. What the hell happened to this line.
Fishis boi simply put a change of people that made them....for money reasons
I really take your reviews to heart
It’s crazy how one video with one person’s take made the entire community hate an figure that isn’t even as bad as they think it is
Crazy how it's not just one video and there are more than me outside of RUclips over the years, huh?
Heck yeah sh monster arts
I would get the original but sadly it is OUT OF PRINT so I am out of options BUT the paint ain't that big of a deal so this is my best option and plus EFFECT PARTS so it's a win win

for my opinion, I like the original Sh monster arts Mothra better.
My friend got that mothra as well and after I looked at his and yours in the review it seems to me like they just repainted the old mothras they couldn't sell. What do you think?
LockDown 08 From the looks of it it migth be true
It seemz they just added a cheap coat of dark paint over already painted figures
I know right? I mean it wouldn't be the first time...
I sent the premium website an email in English and Japanese and I got no response.
lol worth it for the effect parts
Hey Steve! Are you gonna get and review the SpaceGodzilla and Little Godzilla special color version if you don't mind?
+Devenish Mang I address that at the end. Worth the watch.
One of the worst repaints and sets in the line i have to say. Heck, i think this has got to be worse than the destoroyah evolution set. I mean, u repaint a really good original release of the figure and call it new? Like i know repaints r common when it comes to figures but they should at least be something interesting and are good for their price.
Teenage Dude 2003 like you know, make a Leo or Rainbow mothra
Jesus Ramirez Romo or aqua mothra, just anything from the rebirth of mothra series
I like it
Why can’t they just re-release the old fig with no stupid gimmicks...
Like mother 2nd release same fig just says 2nd Vernon box or something?
A nigth version re-paint?, wow thats a new low
They could of just made a re-tool of the figure to make either Mothra or Leo from RebirthOfMothra
Jesus Ramirez Romo the design is completely different
*braces for Monsterarts rage*
*again*
This was considered not good back in the day and now things are even worse
Nevermind QC issues or "SHMA IS DEAD" riffraff, it's just....the concept of this figure is just...bad. Like, the paint is just bad on principle, at least for the Imago. This release was clearly just an excuse to reissue Mothra, which I don't have a problem with, but couldn't they have come up with a less ugly concept for a repaint?
+Trev Holmes I know, it was just a dumb idea. They were desperate and did this.
If it was possible to boycott and get everyone in the states to not buy their next figure or figures and see how they respond.....if only...
Mecha_Ghidrah which might make them cancel the line
A very devastating point In the S.H monsterarts history
A lot of repaints
All heisei era kaiju
Poor quality control
Not worth the over $100 prices
A devastating blow for the line
I'll be happy to take it off your hands. I dont have Mothra. Don't care about quality. I need one.
Yeah my favorite nitpicker is back with another toy review! I figured things would go this way after the unboxing nor do I blame you. While the issues on my five MonsterArts figures aren't on par with yours it's still a pain to spend so much on a figure that has parts just popping right off at each breath. Personally, I only watch these reviews to check for really bad QC issues or to see if there's problems with the articulation. You couldn't pay me to personally care about hairs on figures.
Hey man I love your style, I don't mean that as an insult by any means. Not as a fellow nitpicker.
+El Blaise I getcha, it's just... Why tho. Why spend so much and just screech it's fine you got something broken?
It is absolutely not fine especially given the prices and the hoops Bandai makes us jump through for many of their products, nor was I trying to make it seem as such I'm just personally amused by the people who call your perfectly valid criticisms nitpicks. A lot of what's happening with the Monsterarts and Figurearts lines is reminiscent of what has been happening with the model kit lines as well and is largely the reason why I don't purchase Gunpla any longer. P.S. My apologies if I ruffled your feathers I meant to put nitpick in quotes but I forgot due to outside interference.
I want buy it’s PLSSSSSS
Why a repaint just why?
Steven can you Review neca godzilla atomic blast
+Aakili K. Sharp If someone sends it to me, I will.
That can be arranged
It's 20$
ahhh
Its really not that bad
It is
I can see why you dislike it its not on my top 10 but its better than people give credit for I honestly would buy it if not the big price
Godzilla King of the monsters
Great review brother!!! It's a damn shame and inexcusable to have all these problems especially when we are paying a premium price. I like the colors on this but refuse to buy one because there are many other ways I'd rather be F@#*ed
3rd place to comments! lol All these useless repaints. Can I have it? lol :P
The larva’s look like they are 60 XD
Mothra it ' s stopit
I am a fan of thos chanal but you were realy realy harsh on this figure
As deserved!
10/10 best figures. Lol no
Godzilla 154 they do have good figures tho. compared to neca, in terms of detail and accuracy..most of the time
Maldito monsterarts saca a Mothra imago con un color hermoso pero sin accesorios, saca a la versión larva con un color horrible pero con un buen accesorios (la ceda ). do you know steven that the mothra larva looks like a massive turd
2019
Why does mothra larva look like poop
this review so sad
Too much friken complain how bad is this I beat mine will be perfect
+awsome megacharizardX No. You clearly have no concept of money.
Yhea.... he is rigth in this review
The figure is the worst repaint ive ever seen
This is the worst monsterarts ever!
Na its not that bad
