Girl... The east side of Paris is not unsafe or sketchy. Let's not perpetuate racist stereotypes. I have seen FAR more muggings, kidnapping, thievery and tourist traps in the "safee" zones. As a resident in the. ''93'', I can tell you that I have had zero problems.
My husband was cop in 93. You can hand pick towns that are nice there, (though if something, maybe 94) but you can also end up in a total police no go zone - and as a foreigner, you won't even know which is what, because you can not say by the look of it. You will have towns, where you have drug deal on every second street - and if you can't read the signs, you will not know, until you end up in the middle of some gang fight. Every time we had friends searching for apartments, they were always booking my husband as an advisor, to help them pick places that are reasonably safe in the Paris area. People that live in Paris for long know, that big share of the price of an apartment, is the safety tax and "good school" fee. And I think it is easier to blend in the suburbs, when you do not look like you do not belong there. I clearly didn't blend in with my ostentatiously Eastern European face, and the amount of sexual harassment I faced in 93, was shocking. Never again suburbs for me, no matter how cheap.
Thank you! Yeah, sorry about that 😅 It was very awkward to film in front of the realtors but I wanted to film as much as possible. Will try better next time 🙌🏻
@@tanyanyanya the landlord has to tell you which things need fixing (also depends on your contract) and if you fixed them and payed your rent etc he has to give it back. If you broke something and didn't fix it he can have it repaired professionally and take the costs out of your deposit
@@helantopia sounds like a good deal, but scary anyway, so many horror stories about these deposits 😅 mine was also stolen once and nobody could do anything about it in the UK 😩
Those fees. Oh my goodness. It's like that in a lot of cities in the US, too. I've seen places that charge first & last month AND a security deposit that's essentially another month (and you won't be getting that back, no matter how nice you leave the place).
Oh, yeah, I should've mentioned that if you have relatives/friends in France who can be your guarantor, surely you don't have to pay them, but otherwise, you do
I’m sorry but did i got this right…? Are you looking for fully furnished apartments? Because i heard several times throughout the video that you complain about the tv or the fridge or the microwave or the couch. Is this normal in France?
Yes, I was looking for a fully furnished apartment and it is normal, yes. As you can see in the video, all of the apartments were fully furnished but some were lacking one thing or another so it’s just about choosing what you want to compromise or how much time/money you have to find the perfect apartment :)
hahaha, the third place didn't have a walk-in closet, lol, that's what the French call "un dressing", hahahah, and a lot of the time it's a full ass room they turn into storage, lol. My beau-pere has one in his place, he sacrificed a guest room to put in one of these things, so we can never stay at his place, lol
I believe your expectations/requirements were totally unrealistic for Paris given your budget, which makes your comments sound ill-tempered. FYI, what you call DIY walls are used to open up the space by knocking down non-weight-bearing structures and replacing them with steel and glass. This is common practice in Paris where apartments traditionally have a bunch of small, dark rooms. Hope someday you can find your “happy place.” Good luck!
@@tanyanyanya nah you are right Tanya. Paris is insane, apartments are stupidly expensive, very small and often in terrible condition. And if you want to save cash on a "great deal", you may end up in a high crime area, and not even know about it, because you are not familiar with the city. I came to Paris from Poland, and I was just soo disappointed with how upsetting the housing conditions were in this city (city, not country, other towns in France are much more livable). And the suburbs - I mean. Good luck picking nice suburbs, if you are foreigner. I lived in the supposedly "good affordable" ones, and from Eastern European perspective, they were damn terrible. I spend my youth partying, getting home drunk at 4 am alone, never had any issues in Poland. France? I was harassed on the street so many times I can not even count. The rent price is what you pay to feel safe. The nice suburbs are not cheap.

Loved your video! Great info! Please move your camera slower though, it made it a little hard to view, thank you!

the first apartment was a dream😭
riiight?! i was stunned especially for the price!
in Germany it's actually normal for the security deposit to be 3x the rent without utilities
😱 That's so much money! Are tenants somehow protected from a landlord just making up reasons to not give the deposit back?

Yeah the security deposit is a scam at this point 😪
Some realtors in NYC charge a percentage of the yearly rent. Talk about a scam.
You don't have to pay for a guarantor !! My guarantors are my mom and my grandfather... and of course I don't pay them.
You do if you don't have anyone in France who can be your guarantor, so you have to pay for a guarantor service :/

How much was the 6th and 7th apartment?
The French invented bureaucracy.
guarantor is usually a family member or friend isn't it?
can be, but I'm guessing they have to have a certain income and stuff like that. And if you don't have anyone in France it can be a company.
Hey beautiful can i ask are you at paris for work? Or school...... I wanted to apply for job at Paris but i don't know wherebyo start from🥹

How is it ill-tempered to have certain expectations? Especially since the first apartment met most of them, so that is in fact realistic.
No her expectations aren’t unrealistic with her budget she can have nice apartment in some nice Parisian close suburbs.
