You can spray the whole piece with white lithocrome let it dry and then scrape it all off with a scraper. What’s in the etching will leave behind. It’s a awesome weather proof paint that comes in spray cans. We use it at our monument shop.

Amazing machinery, it's fascinating to see how a light beam cut through stone and an image emerges! If you engrave a portraits on gravestones too, you might know that sometimes the portraits have very low quality. To fix the quality of the portraits we we've built a tool that automatically improves the quality. It will be much appreciated if you check out the tool, or tell about it to the graphical designers that prepare the portraits for the engraving. Thanks a lot! (link in the channel)

Hi Jay. I just now came across this video. I'm fairly new to laser engraving and I've got a 15W Ortur Laser Master 2. I haven't tried granite, or even ceramic tile for that matter, but I'll let you know if a 15W laser is strong enough. Good video, straight to the point and not a lot of babbling. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos.

Hi Jay, curious as to what Line Interval you are using? You said 65% @ 175mm/s, but what line Interval? I have tried 0.1 thru .063, and still seeing line ridges horz. in the engrave. Thinking my meniscus might be too small of a dot?

Nice video. I am used to dealing with wood, acrylic and mylar, but haven't done any stone. Quick question - When engraving stone, is there any difference to take note of regarding air assist and extraction? I vent indoors through a fume extractor / air scrubber, so I'm just trying to get an understanding on how much dust is produced compared to other common materials. Thanks!

@@JaysToDoList i have done a couple using your technique! it works amazing! This maybe the same as the last question about focal length do you have a DPI setting or line intervail that you like 254 dpi. My thought is if it a smaller dpi it would leave more "valleys" in the engraving and give it more area for paint to adhere to.

what else have you experimented with for color fill? I'm thinking something more like a stain, that would soak into the pours you've opened up during engraving.
btw I aim to answer your question of just how small a laser can do granite.

I'd distrust anybody who claims/believes that Home Depot granite tiles are of adequate quality for laser etching. For anybody with high standards, the grain of Home Depot granite tiles is too coarse, and impurities many, to etch/render subtle details.
