    Hello again from Washington state. Fantastic video! Love those little guys!. I purchased a dwarf Alberta spruce several years ago, thinking of styling it as a miniature christmas tree. Thanks for all the advice and ideas in this video. Cheers!

    I found a plastic, shoe-cleat, cleaning-brush, has good strong plastic bristles, and is pretty thin, and works good :) (plus comes with mud scraping edge, lol)

    Great repot video. Corin, what was your thought process choosing the rectangle pot for this maple, and the oval pot for the Siberian elm? Do you look more at the winter silhouette or summer when choosing the pot shape for deciduous trees? Cheers 🍻👍🏻

    • @corintomlinson6687
      @corintomlinson6687 3 года назад +1

      I find that that flared profile of the sides of this pot compliment the flare of trunks as they emerge from the clump. It is also a beautiful pot I had that I was wanting to use for some time

    Super useful video. I’d never thought about choosing a front for the pot as well 👍
    Also cutting the growth back on the maple does that get done yearly and does that help keep it more tree like than bush like?

  • @stephenkoebcke9070

    Corin we've got about 85 trees in our park that need it real bad cause of last year. Want to hop across the pond and help me? :-) . Good vids. Steve.

    Very nice! I usually hear allowing for die back when pruning maples were you accounting for that? Thank you in advance

    • @corintomlinson6687
      @corintomlinson6687 3 года назад

      not necessary, only pruning thin branches, and always seal anything over 3mm with Lac Balsam

    Nicely done man.
    You've got great ramification.
    Question, would you reuse the old akadama on something else, or what would you do with it?

    • @corintomlinson6687
      @corintomlinson6687 3 года назад +1

      Thanks Stephen, I don't re-use akadama for bonsai again. But often can be incorporated into growing on beds etc

    • @StephenTurnerVlogs
      @StephenTurnerVlogs 3 года назад

      @@corintomlinson6687 AHA. Yeah I figured it wouldn't be great for me trees but I'd definitely throw it into a bed or the compost.
      Good to know I'm not the only one. It's really expensive 😩 🤣

  • @EMATREMA
    @EMATREMA 3 года назад

    Great! One Questions: how do you treat the trunk so that it becomes so clear almost white? I don’t think this is just because of age. Thanks

    • @corintomlinson6687
      @corintomlinson6687 3 года назад

      acer are often winter sprayed with lime sulphur diluted 1:20 with water, which builds up a paler appearance. However I haven't ever done it on this tree.

    • @EMATREMA
      @EMATREMA 3 года назад +1

      @@corintomlinson6687 ok thanks 1:20 you mean for 1liter of water 20ml of lime sulfur?

    • @corintomlinson6687
      @corintomlinson6687 3 года назад +3

      @@EMATREMA hello, no 1:20 is a ratio so 1 litre of water would use 50ml of lime sulphur
