    I have to say that the clean and dirt channel sounds amazing and feels like the real thing through my headphones. I dont care about the lack of mid control, find that my p- and jazz bass really shines through it anyway. An excellent product for sure.

    This might be the best demo I've seen of this unit.
    The other demos sounded very bad with any attempt at a more modern hard rock sound. This sounded much better.

    Cool idea and looks, but I wish it had mid & mid-shift controls on the clean channel...and the modern distortion channel is really weak & annoyingly grainy, and kills the character of the instrument completely

      Yep. Strange, but the lack thereof didn't seem to bother the vintage drive channel.

    •  Год назад

      I was wondering the same, but vintage channel really does not need it. It is based on a concrete amp, so having blend just for modern has more sense at the end.

    I don't understand the lack of mid control on the clean channel. I'd like to see this with an EQ in front with swept or pushed mids before buying.
    However, you all got a nice set of tones out of it here.

    • @DannoDemo
      @DannoDemo Год назад +1

      Was about to comment on this as well. Glad to see that I'm not the only one that is wondering this same thing.

    •  Год назад +2

      Owner here.
      I agree that having a mid control would increase sound shaping capabilities, but since it is based on a vintage amp, having just bass and treble controls is more suitable option. To be honest, you really do not need it. It just sounds great. Tight and warm. You can feel the tube compression.
      Pedal overall is very transparent. It does not change sonic characteristics of a instrument that much. It just enhance it by adding warmth and tightness. I personally really like that about this pedal.
      If I want to change the tone completely, I use SansAmp Bass Driver. That old work horse is meant for that.
      It depends what you need. ReVolt is awesome, but not almighty, and that will not work for everyone.

    • @pclindholm
      @pclindholm Год назад +1

      @ thanks Nicola - I'll give it a try. You had me at tube compression.
      I love the difference in feel with cutting mids at 500 or pushing them over 1k, the Empress paraeq MK2 or sansamp will pair perfectly with the Revolt to make that happen.

    Please clarify, are you post-processing at all? Your demo sounds a lot clearer than my experience with the onboard cab sim. Also your demo suggests you can load IR models via software, this is incorrect. The onboard hardware cab sim attempts to emulate an Ampeg 810, which has a pillowy bottom end and rolls off highs fairly severely. With your settings shown in the demo, I don’t see how you’re getting extra clarity. Same settings for me lose high-end clarity, whether that be a vintage style bass or modern active. Would hate for your demo to be misleading. I do echo the other comments. Clean channel lacks mid control. Dirt channel is great. Shared EQ creates compromise, since the drive channel is very unique, it needs to be tamed but this then changes the dirt channel. I want to love this pedal and I do like it more than the Darkglass Microtubes Infinity for preserving your natural bass character, but the compromises and cab sim take some points away sadly.

    • @davedixon2167
      @davedixon2167 Год назад +2

      The pedal's documentation has a whole host of different IRs listed (10 different cab models) and says that you can access over 500 cabs via DynIR. It seemed to indicate to me that they could be chosen and loaded; if this is incorrect then it's my mistake, and speaks to what I mentioned in the video that the complexity levels are beyond my usual practices. As to the post processing, I don't think there is anything beyond the normal RUclips compression, but will defer to the bossman on that as he would know better than I.

    • @TheBassChannel
      @TheBassChannel  Год назад +2

      Zero post processing whatsoever. The sound you're hearing is the sound that came from the pedal. In regards to the cab sim, the documentation I read suggested that the DynIR cabs could either be loaded into the Torpedo pedal, or be used in a DAW as a standalone plugin. But nowhere did I see that they load into the pedal itself. Either way, I don't have a Torpedo pedal and after approximately 2 hours of trying, I could not get the AU to install and work at all. I'm sure the problem lies with me but that's just how it went.

    • @WestOfBen
      @WestOfBen Год назад +1

      Good to know no processing, but you had the cab sim engaged throughout? I wonder if RUclips compresssion plays a part here. Your demo sounds different to mine. I have basses with clear airy treble, my ears are tested fine. I have tested this unit in a number of environments and the high end roll off is more severe than your demo indicates. The DynIR load in DAW. Torpedo is a separate deal. The ReVolt has one cab sim option only.

    • @TheBassChannel
      @TheBassChannel  Год назад +3

      RUclips’s compression doesn’t really change the sound quality like most people think it does. I’m sure audiophiles can tell a difference but it’s not like the video makes the product sound different than it really does. The only things I can think of to explain your scenario is A) you have a defective unit. B) Your strings aren’t as bright. C) Your play style is softer. D) Some other variable in your play style or signal chain.

    • @WestOfBen
      @WestOfBen Год назад +2

      @@TheBassChannel Understood. Only scenario is defective unit. Stainless steel strings, various playing styles. No shortage of harmonic content. Switching cab sim on results in a high frequency cut more drastic than your demos. I lose a lot of air and snap, especially from my active bass. Thanks for replying, I will follow up with Two Notes.
