Mia Gunn I just died... jealous of what. Most of us are critics because we know better. Once you watch How To Cake It, Crumb coat and Chill will make much more sense and you will be the critic...
Are you guys really serious or being sarcastic? Do you really believe you're now critics just because you watch How to Cake It? You guys have really become cancerous in a lot of comment sections for other channels lately. Stop being so obnoxious.
+Lost as a professional baker I can be a critic. Most people that watch these videos are aspiring bakers. So if you claim to be a professional baking instructor there is nothing wrong with making sure you "students" aim for perfection. If you read other comments you will find many aspiring bakers and professional bakers agree. You need to make sure that you are weighing the proper amount of batter in each pan and that you level (which some may not find important) each layer evenly sometimes it require a ruler. Hey if you search RUclips you will find videos on leveling as well. If you come with tutorials make sure you come correct. You are saying I know what I am doing and damn she is representing Martha Stewart...ijs
Cant wait to try this! Its allot of work. Man the Art director went over kill on this. Peach and white EVERYTHING MUST BE PEACH AND WHITE!!! Right down to her clothes and makeup. Looks great though ;)
You can use any flavor you want, just keep in mind how thin or thick your end result will be. For example; chocolate will thicken it greatly when cooled, but a load of orange juice will make it too thin. Most berries will give the same consistency as strawberries, but banana's or melons will not. Extracts can really help out with certain flavors too. For coffee flavor I make a strong espresso and then add even more espresso powder, that way I only need a little liquid to add a strong flavor.
Tried out this recipe..Everything was okay but the bottom and sides were burnt. The cake turned out to be really dense too.Otherwise it’s okay.Nice explanation and enjoyed watching this video :)
LOVE this video! I have had someone ask me to make them a Strawberry Shortcake for their birthday. I love this recipe, and you've made it very easy to understand. I'm diving in tomorrow after watching this video about 5 times...LOL! Wish me luck! Thanks for the great recipe and instructions! 🎂 💕 🍓 🍰
Yum.. I love cakes that look like cakes! I mean, those with the fondant/frosting artwork on them look very nice but don't make me hungry. This is the kind of cake I'd want to devour (although realistically I'd be overwhelmed by the buttercream after half a slice).
Well, that's a great cake decorating idea! Never thought to do the sides of my cake like that before, but maybe it's just me. Still, I love how she makes it seem that everyone (especially a newbie in cake decorating department like me) can do it easily. Really love the look!
this looks amazing, but I've been having a hard time trying to make the swiss meringue buttercream. 😞 i live in a tropical humid county and it it melts down. 😫
Mindy Taylor Do you mean the base of the mixer? The place where the bowl locks in is made of metal. I also think the rest of it is just painted/enameled metal not plastic, so your situation might be different.
Chemeleon15 No the mixer bowl. The grey colored disc attached to the bowl that locks it in place to the mixer base. It can be twisted off but I don't want to twist it back on when the bowl is hot with egg whites and melted sugar in it. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
This recipe looked really good so I went ahead to try it out and it turned out terrible. The cake was super heavy and had no flavor. Plus buttercream kept curdling up and it was a waste of strawberries. Do not recommend.
i really have a problem with cake flour, i didnot found any cake flour available in all supermarket.... can i use allpurpose flour? will it be the same texture n taste?
Keith Sy you can make your own, for every one cup of cake flour, you would replace two tablespoons of all purpose flour with two tablespoons of corn starch. whisk them together and then you sift it and you got some cake flour. :)
This was a great tutorial! Everything was clearly explained and shown. And the cake looks amazing!
The matching nails and mixer brought me here
Absolutely gorgeous cake! Bravo!
this would be the perfect recipe for a fairytail cake!!!1
Heart attack on a stick but I'd love a piece. 🍓 😘
Omg looks amazing. Love how rustic and simple it looks.... Just how a home baker would make it!! Wonderful
I was waiting for a ruler when she was leveling then I remembered it's not How to cake it 😂💔 , Nice cake though 🍓💓
J Juman totally agreed... how to cake it is the best!!!
J Juman yolanda is the cake queen
J Juman omg when she went straight into her second layer of icing I was like "no crumb coat and chill??!?" Haha
yes. whoever this lady is apparently has some of Yo's hater on board. lol
No simple syrup either! I bet this cake tastes good, but simple syrup is lyfe!
Awwwww, I wanted to see what a slice would look like
MrFanomusic24 it's at 0:15
I love the cake, but i live for the pink nails and that pink kitchen aid.
They discontinued my nail color! Help!
WHY DIDNT YOU CUT OPEN THE CAKE 😭😭
I want that baby pink Kitchen Aid!
You can get them anywhere.

I don't know what I like more...the cake or the host :)
I really liked how this turned out!! Such a beautiful, rustic cake xx
This is a good recipe! Much better than the churros last time:)
Lots of jealous women in the comment section. The cake looked fine.
it's not that deep fam

^ I know like am I supposed to be jealous of a cake? a girl who can't spread on frosting?? like what?

Where's Thomas Joseph???
Huh? Thomas has his own show. Why are you looking for him here? This is Sweet Talk.
looks delicious, thanks for the recipe
This cake looks awesome! Thanks, Lindsay!
I would make this if I was rich and could afford to buy three pounds of strawberries for one single cake
Cant wait to try this! Its allot of work. Man the Art director went over kill on this. Peach and white EVERYTHING MUST BE PEACH AND WHITE!!! Right down to her clothes and makeup. Looks great though ;)
This looks so good. Would be great for Mothers Day!! 👍
Beautiful cake! 🍓🍰🍓
Can I have the name of the soundtrack in the background? It's so positive and peaceful. Thanks!
play it on speed 2 for a normal speed cooking show
Beautiful Cake Lindsay. Well done! 💕
The icing looked really messy
breathing heavily
Love the way this looks, so rustic and fresh.
I think it's a beautiful cake made for spring or summer, it looks light and not to sweet. Seems relatively easy to make as well. Thanks Lindsay 😊👍👍👍❤❤
beautiful and unique cake, waiting for more delicious recipes 😊
mariam kamal unique. Really?
can we make the butter cream same way but with others kind of berry or fruit?

The cakeboard was a mess. Oh, I am anxious! 😭
Czarina Marushka me too i was waiting for her to wipe clean the cake board
If you noticed at the end, it was moved onto a different cake plate
She had me hooked at three pounds of strawberries. :D
Love the cake and video, can't wait to see another recipe!
You didn't put syrup in cake while icing it
Ummmm…how is this not a chiffon cake…???
Strawberry is my favorite !
I think d Cake is chiffon not sponge cake.
I love 😭😭😭😭😭😭😍😍😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💔💔💔💔
Tried out this recipe..Everything was okay but the bottom and sides were burnt. The cake turned out to be really dense too.Otherwise it’s okay.Nice explanation and enjoyed watching this video :)

I don’t have a big 8 inch pan like yours. I have 3 little ones. So I will cook the layers separately. Would it be the same temperature and time?
I was skeptical of the icing job at first, but in the end everything comes together
Well, that's a great cake decorating idea! Never thought to do the sides of my cake like that before, but maybe it's just me. Still, I love how she makes it seem that everyone (especially a newbie in cake decorating department like me) can do it easily. Really love the look!
if you added some syrup to the sponge cake would be better, without it, it will be dry, apart from that, the cake looks stunning.
The way this video look makes me happy! Seriously, I just want my world to be this happy looking. lolz
Is there such a thing as stabilized whipped cream meringue? I love how you used meringue in the cake.
I would add a simple syrup. Other than that it's looks yummy 🍓🍰🍓🍰
I like that the countertops are a mess after she’s done lol. Makes me feel good knowing I’m not the only one that gets messy cooking
Lindsay you are beautiful and a wonderful baker, this was truly a thing of beauty to watch. Thank you :)
This is an amazing cake, I have made it like 4 times now and the result are so yummy.
Beautiful cake! Thanks for sharing your recipe, Lindsay!
Very nice video. To make it great would have been to cut a slice to reveal what the inside looks like. 🍰
Crumb, Coat, and Chill....it was cute. Level. #howtocakeit
Thank you very much for your teaching, delicious recipe!
love the buttercream☺☺☺ no need for thermometer ☺ thanks lindsay
Beautiful and Delicious ❤I love strawberries 🍓
Isn't she lovely! With delicious cake recipes as well :D
Excellent job , and the finish was divine!🥇🥇🏆
Can the strawberries be replaced with fresh Mangoes?
What if I make it with Brown or black sugar ??
How much is 1 stick of butter? 100g? 200g?
You're kitchen is so bright and pretty
Yum. I love the pattern on the outside buttercream
I've never heard someone describing a cake as tender before
It so pretty! Can’t wait to make I love strawberries 🍓
Why is there foil tape on the mixing bowl?
This cake looks nice, moist and yummy.
Oh wow! I'm definitely going to try this
this looks amazing, but I've been having a hard time trying to make the swiss meringue buttercream. 😞 i live in a tropical humid county and it it melts down. 😫
alelee25 italian meringue buttercream is much better for hunid hot weather
Great. Now I'm hungry.
Lovely cake, I enjoy every minute ...
I love how calm everything is.
Just ❤️ 💝 💕!
instead of using one pan would this still work for three separate 8in pans to avoid leveling?
Perfectly Imperfect - of course you can but shorter baking time coz they are much thinner
❤️❤️ the cake looks so stunning
At his cake looks beautiful
I need this right now :)
Ah. She did a Swiss meringue
her eyes are really blue
awesome cake
you have such a lovely voice!
Literally a perfect cake!
Good Job Lindsay And Love The Video
Simply beautiful!
very nice well done
beautiful 😀😀😀
I've always been scared to put the glass mixer bowl over a water bath because the base is plastic. But it looks like it survives.
Mindy Taylor

If its hard plastic it should be able to withstand 212F. That's actually relatively quite a low temperature.
Thanks, PatisserieBoy. I'll try it one day and save me an extra bowl to clean. :)
Love it 😊
Wooow👌👌👌👍👍👍🍰💗
This recipe looked really good so I went ahead to try it out and it turned out terrible. The cake was super heavy and had no flavor. Plus buttercream kept curdling up and it was a waste of strawberries. Do not recommend.
excellent👍🌞
what do mean by room temperature ?
The butter needs to be very soft, but not melting. The frosting will react to temperature just like butter would.
Love it!!
Perfect!

Wow tnx
In a pinch, you could use all-purpose flour...the cake will still be delicious.
Tnx ill try it
Use self raising flour
😍😍😍
Sorry I clicked on this, thought it was Anna Olsen
LOL
I love Sweet Talk!!!! MORE LINDSAY STRAND VIDEOS PLEASE!
I had a major fail with this cake. the middle never did rise 😭.
The cake didn't rise? You should make it in three different tins
I'll give that a try. However we did eat the cake even though it was deflated! Taste wise it was delish! 👌
