  • A Dover Oildraulic in a self-storage facility served as the perfect place to demonstrate "parking" or "recall", a mode that brings an unoccupied elevator back to it's "default" floor. Think about this if you've ever heard someone tell a story about an elevator moving on its own!
This elevator will park at the "first" floor 40 seconds after it's satisfied all cab call and hall call demand. In this case, the first floor is actually the second landing, since this elevator has a lower level that's below grade. The key difference between parking demand and a cab or hall call demand is that the doors will remain closed when the elevator is parking (since there's no reason to open the doors).
This elevator was in a self-storage facility, hence the diamond plated steel and extra high capacity (4500 lb). One quirk about this elevator is that it will mislevel after the hydraulic oil has had a chance to warm up.
