It's nice to hear the opinion of someone who clearly enjoys driving! If I want the tech specs.. I can read the press releases and published information. Your reviews actually brighten my day! Thank you!
The Mazda brand is geared towards the enthusiast. Always has been, always will be. If you don't like the act of driving, you won't "like" this car. This being said, Mazda has done a fantastic job with their bread-and-butter car. Leagues ahead from the previous gen and a true segment leader. The beautiful Emme doing a stellar review, as usual. :-)
The Fast Lane Car who in the world would hate Emmy she is fantastic with her reviews and her atmosphere is a pleasure to watch. I surely know MrKeyboardCommando enjoys her ;)))
Nice review! Love the enthusiasm! I just bought one of these top trim 15 Mazda3 hatches a few weeks ago and have been watching various video reviews and that’s how I came across this channel. It’s my 8th Mazda overall and so I have a few other Mazdas to compare it to (including 2 other 3s I previously owned). This car is indeed so much fun to drive. It is meant to be revved too - so happy to see that mentioned here. The interior is top notch and has aged well even when compared to the newest Mazda interiors. This car is my race around town errands car. If you’ve got to be running around might as well do it while having a big smile on your face!!
Hi Emme, great review. Thank you. A very good friend of mine who was an ex-priest, told me the story of his ordination, which was great but long. The gist is: If you do your job with 100% of your body, mind, heart, and soul; this is what will happen: 1/3 will love you; 1/3 will hate you; and the final third just won't give a damn one way or another. Hang in there!
Nice Review! You covered most of my questions/concerns with this car. I want the same model & specs that this review car came with and your enthusiasm for the car really sealed the deal! lol Added to my fave vids! :)
I Have 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback 2.0 engine so far so good no complaints best car ever i love to drive it, engine is quite capable and no issues accelerating, future purchase will be a same car , keep it up Mazda!!
Loved it! Good to know my 2014 Mazda 2.0 L isn't obsolete yet. Just a word: when searching for a car you want to watch the reviews. It was hard because ppl only review the top of the line trim option. Not everyone can afford 28k+. I highly suggest you get the lowest trim with the 7" touchscreen & hatchback. It's worth it!
I have gray with black interior. I Plasti dipped the rims black and spayed the break paddles red. Question: didn't changing the exhaust decrease the car's MPG? I hate that the car has no roar but I like the 33 average we have.
I traded my challenger in for this yesterday it handles way better its fun to drive but i love all the theatrics of the challenger and rhe mazda sound system is amazing
I always love watching Emme's reviews because she's so enthusiastic. Also think it's hilarious because I'm pretty confident we have the same driving style (hehe redline fun) which is why I totally ignore advertised MPG and am pleasantly surprised if I get anything more than 20. I'm bad.
great video emme, i have the 2015 base model (small engine) with 6 speed manual and let me tell you, it will get up and go ! it likes to go to redline at which point the engine limiter activates. gas mileage is awesome, i have achieved 50 MPG.
This is a driver's car, however if you're gonna have passengers often in the backseat, it's tight at the back. I went to the dealership and checking out the cars, and I found out you can lift the foam up in the back seat... I could see the metal of the car right there. That's the only issue, if you only carry 1-2 people, this is an awesome car to buy!
***** Mazda maybe went a little bit too far in saving weight (and money). But it drives fantastic. I don't care about a "premium" interior. Reliability of Mazda is also very good.
Great review Emmy! I compared this apples to apples to apples: Mk7 GTI vs F54 Clubman S vs 3rd gen Mazda3-S GT. What a close call! If price isn't an issue, Clubman S all the way. If price is an issue, then GTI and Mazda3S is unbearably close. I suppose it comes to german experience vs japanese reliability. Seriously guys, you should test drive all 3 cars asap.
The Fast Lane Car Emme, you look like a kid in a candy store in that car... So did I when I bought one. ... As for gas mileage, your very correct, I get 27-34 when I drive it how i want to drive it (how it should be driven), but when taking trips to work, or when I have company in the car, I have gotten 40-46 mpg out of it. GREAT CAR, and thanks for that review!
Thanks TFL, I bought a 2014 mazda 3 GT (Canadian Model) which is the S Grand Touring back in March,2014. And so far i'm loving this car very much. Only thing that i don't like about the car was the power plug inside the little storage at the arm rest. Power output stays on even though the car is shut off. Other than that, I do recommend this car to any prefer fuel efficent and little luxuary package at low cost ( not really low cost) more like mid range. I really like the sporty hatchback looks. Its very stable at high speed cornering.
the big thing about syactiv is that the engine has somewhat trapazoidal pistons rather than flat and runs at 13:1 compression ratio. all that results to bigger power and better fuel economy from the efficent little 4 banger.
I have the 2013 MazdaSpeed 3 and love it. I'm sure the new one will be great too. I hope they do that ruin the first few fears like my car with he power limited. You don't get full boost until about 3rd gear.
I like the big tach. It’s all you need. Besides I can do 100 mph and the speed (displaying in corner of tach and HUD) can’t easily be seen by my disapproving g/f in the passenger seat ;) 💺
I have a 2013 genesis coupe and let me tell i love the car but after having it for about close to 18 months im beginning to feel indifferent about it. It is a great sports/gt for the money and it's definitely a solid capable car but after driving a 3 i was just blown away by its chassis and its handling dynamics. So my next car is might just be a 2.5 hatch. By the time im reading to sell my coupe, im hoping theres a speed 3
I understand what you mean but it’s kinda a luxury coupe and you have more power depending on the trim you have. The Mazda isn’t much newer and it’s a completely different type of car.
I'm getting a car soon, so I'm doing a lot of research. So far, the Mazda3 is one of the top contenders, alongside the Honda Fit and a few other sedans. I hear a lot about Mazdas rusting, and I live in a climate where the weather is extremely unpredictable. It can blizzard one day and be up in the eighties the next. So, can someone elaborate on the rust situation with Mazda and whether or not they've addressed the problem and fixed it with this generation of the 3? If rust is a problem then Mazda will definitely lose its place on my list because I plan to keep this car until the absolute end, and if the absolute end is within three or four years, I wouldn't waste my money. I really like this car so I hope the rusting issue is a thing of the past...
The verdict is still out if Mazda has corrected the issue and it remains to be seen if they rust faster than other brands. The first generation of the Mazda 3 was notorious for rusting in northern climates. The second gen was better but still people had issues.
Charles Schutz I've been snooping around in various Mazda forums and have heard stories about rusting in cars as new as the previous generation 3. I'm a bit wary, but I'll keep my eye out. Thank you for your response.
Star m, I live in Long Island, NY, and my wife and I own 2 mazda 3s, 05 and 06. I have not experienced the rust issue that concerns you. I don't wash the cars often, except after a snowstorm to remove the salt. I don't know if Honda and Toyota cars can get by with the salt, but my guess is that no car can, in the long run. The '05, with 170k miles, has no rattles or squeaks. It also looks new, outside of the haze on the headlamps. The 2.3 engine has enough power and the sequential gearbox shifts quickly and smoothly. The '06 has 145k miles on it. It drives smoothly. The clutch is still very smooth. I have not performed the dealer recommended services. I have always followed the manual. This past year I have been using synthetic oil to limit the number of oil changes I perform in a year. The only thing I don't like about the cars is the road noise (though this is common in this class). Otherwise, so far so good with both cars. I would buy another Mazda 3 in a heartbeat, especially with the improvements that have been made in terms of gas consumption. By the way, according to Consumerreports.org, the Mazda 3's reliability is "very good" (the Civic's reliability is "excellent". However, outside of the Golf cars and the Civic SI, nothing in that category feels as substantial as the Mazda 3 (for those respective years). Good luck!
Bill thanks for your reply! It's reassuring to hear some stories like this. I guess I just have to be careful of the salt. And also, I didn't know that fact. I'll look into consumerreports.org. Thanks again for your wonderful reply.
I have a 2007 Mazda3 Hatchback with the 2.3L engine (160 hp/150 ft.lbs) and although I have a few spots of rust, it doesn't spread too much if you rust proof it every year. I'd imagine it would be the same with the newer gen if the rust issue isn't completely fixed yet. Besides the rust and a few quirks about the cars, they're great!
The word "media" is the plural form of the word "medium". It does not make sense to make it more plural by saying "medias". Other than that, a great review.
I just bought one with 65,000 miles on it. Excellent shape. I put on some new brakes and it’s good to go. I’ve had 8 Mazdas now… reliability and fun are high on my expectations list and this car will deliver that too!
Solid review (Nice job Emmie), but the only gripe I have with the Mazda 3 2.5 is the price. At the $25k price point, you can upgrade to faster and more fun to drive offerings such as the Accord Sport 6MT, Civic Si, and base VW GTI. And why can you get a Mazda6 2.5 6MT for cheaper than a Mazda3 2.5 6MT? SMH Mazda.
Mazda should hire Emme for doing this. Come on guys! give here a round of applause for giving a hype on this car! For all women out there this is the car for you! yay!
How are the motor mounts? On my 07 they are soo soft that when I put my foot in it, the tires break loose and theres a loud banging noise under the hood.
Pretty decent review except for the part where she left out the most important part of the skyactiv. None of the cars electric accessories are driven by the engine. AC music window and so on are driven by a capacitor recharged by braking so there is no parasitic loss when any of those items are used making better use of power and increased fuel milage. That along with transmission setup (not manual) allows for better fuel ratings
Nathan Flowers it's a cool feature, but I'm not sure I'd like to pay so much just for the i-ELOOP, although there are a couple more things the package adds, just can't remember.
Hey M great review though I found it extremely bias because you didn't point out one negative. I know your love for Mazda and all but I just thought it could have been more objective. Anyway great work and great information. I'm not trying to be difficult it's just that for folks looking at this vehicle many choices abound that I think are compatible or better. Especially when it comes to power. I mean Sky Active is great but you have to floor the car to get any real power this defeating the fuel economy. Constantly having to drive in high RPM for power gets old fast. Otherwise the car has no performance. JC
I need some advice. Between the honda civic si (probably the sedan) and the mazda 3, which one would you prefer? I have to buy a car in a few months and im looking for a fun to drive car but also a practical daily driver. Oh yes and i prefer manuals :)
no 0 to 60? really trying to find this out for this bodystyle and engine size, already know the fundamentals of fun to drive since it seems it more targeted to car enthusiast.
Reviewed elsewhere as having a very hard ride, and the sky active engine being very noisy when cold. Not a bad car otherwise but I don't like the large grille, looks odd?
btw, im strictly talking about the 3 GT. both n/a engine (2.5 mazda = more torque vs 2.4 civic = more hp), both around the same price range, both with manuals. the si has gone too soft that the only real difference between these two is that the si has lsd...so yeah these two do compete. the speed3 competes more with the focus st and the gti (similar price range, turbo). and I own a 13 si.

Any idea on 0-60 time? Just wondering if there was any difference in performance between the AT and MT. I'm this close to buying a Mazda 3 GS 2.5 liter... final decision: is it worth it to spend an additional USD 1K to have the AT?
+Trung Việt Hàn Some of the trim levels didn't have the touch screen on the 14s. The 15 had alot more standard features but the GTs are pretty much the same.
Three years later and I'm thinking about picking up one of these used. This is still the best review I've found.
It's nice to hear the opinion of someone who clearly enjoys driving! If I want the tech specs.. I can read the press releases and published information. Your reviews actually brighten my day! Thank you!

This being said, Mazda has done a fantastic job with their bread-and-butter car. Leagues ahead from the previous gen and a true segment leader.

Yes, Mazda is definitely enthusiasts' most favorite brand as you can get manual on every trim level of the Mazda3. Good work!
The Fast Lane Car who in the world would hate Emmy she is fantastic with her reviews and her atmosphere is a pleasure to watch. I surely know MrKeyboardCommando enjoys her ;)))
I enjoy Emme every night, and twice on Sunday ! :-)))
MrKeyboardCommando lol your hilarious sir :)))
VTEC kick in Thank you, VTEC, you're very kind. ;-)))
MrKeyboardCommando But when he kicks in, he is very brutal...
I like this reviewer. She actually shows enthusiasm lol
I have the 2014 mazda 3 sedan. I LOVE THAT CAR!!!!
She is level 1000 enthusiastic about this car. It made watching this way more entertaining than expected!
This woman is great at reviewing cars, and drives stick! Love it.

So good to see you again Emme Hall, i love your car reviews!
Great review! Top of the line AND a stick?! WOW!!! That is so rare these days. LOVE the new 3.
These re-designed Mazdas look awesome.
Great review, Emmy! Your excitement for the car is infectious. I'm *really* leaning toward the "s" model now.
Hi Emme, great review. Thank you. A very good friend of mine who was an ex-priest, told me the story of his ordination, which was great but long. Great review i have always loved mazdas , seriously going to check this car when car shopping .

I love my Mazda 3.
I must say. Love ur review. It shows how excited one can b on this car.
Love that car, thanks. I would like it if when all of you at TFL show the trunk/hatchback you would put the back seats down and let us take a look.
Loved it! Good to know my 2014 Mazda 2.0 L isn't obsolete yet.

Yep I got the same one! Black on black :) just slap on a cat-back exhaust and maybe a cold-air intake and POW!!
I have gray with black interior. I Plasti dipped the rims black and spayed the break paddles red. Question: didn't changing the exhaust decrease the car's MPG? I hate that the car has no roar but I like the 33 average we have.
I haven't added those parts lol I would like to though. I drive 99% in the city and get 26MPG.
Wtf? I'm about 30mpg
Luis Garcia Dude, I used to get about that doing city in a '96 Camry. You're doing something wrong.
Hi Emmy, didn't realized you ended up here. Good to see you.
I traded my challenger in for this yesterday it handles way better its fun to drive but i love all the theatrics of the challenger and rhe mazda sound system is amazing
Uh huh
Sure
I loved your review! Loved the energy you had for this amazing car! I can't wait till my lease is done so I can get one! Lol!
Great review, great personality with lots of knowledge, fun to watch 👍
Nicely done Emme! I just bought one, love your enthusiastic - buy it! I did I did!
I havent watched TFLC in awhile but this is a good change!
She seems really cool and I like her hair. Hope to see more reviews from her. :D
this car just getting better and better
We love you Emme and your enthusiasm. That hater Court mojo has no "reply" option . What a cowardly troll !!

I think I prefer the focus over the three. But this is an incredible looking car. Have driven all three BTW.

+milo san I actually like that feature! It would be very convenient! As long as the owner stays up on battery maintenance, everything should be fine.
@@Sci-Fi_Fan296 just drive it and your battery will never die
why would you have haters? your awesome...

Decent review can't wait for cx3 review
THIS is the Mazda 3 that I would own! That is until the Mazdaspeed 3 comes in 2017! Thank goodness Mazda put a manual on the 2.5!
+Jan-Michael Franklin I 100% agree! :)
I have the 2013 MazdaSpeed 3 and love it. I'm sure the new one will be great too. I hope they do that ruin the first few fears like my car with he power limited. You don't get full boost until about 3rd gear.
+Jan-Michael Franklin In Europe we havo only the 2.0 and 1.5 in the M3.
You still waiting for that Mazdaspeed 3? lol
This Mazda is so much better than the Golf.
Best looking small commuter's car. No doubt. It's not trying so hard to look good like the Focus (YIKES).
You are silly....the Mazda 3 is superior in every way.
I feel the same about my 335i. It's capable of 30+ on the highway, but I average 16mpg because it's so hard to drive it economically. D:
I just don't care for that instrument cluster. Reminds me of the Chevy Sonic. I'm old school, give me two round gauges and I'm happy.
I like the instrument cluster. It reminds me of a sport bike.
That's what I read was the reasoning for it on the Sonic.
WikdSeafood I always got the connection with Honda.
I like the big tach. It’s all you need. Besides I can do 100 mph and the speed (displaying in corner of tach and HUD) can’t easily be seen by my disapproving g/f in the passenger seat ;) 💺
The 2.5L Mazda3 = A Miata with front wheel drive, a hard-top, and 4 seats.
I like mazda 3❤
But she said it loves the
red line 😂😂 😮😮
I like emme a lot. she is a great car reviewer and I miss her "laundry basket rating"
Civic still has the best ride quality I can't believe it
ghd bfb
in the compact segment it does
ghd bfb
you've probably never sat in one
I'll take the Corolla for comfort thanks. The Mazda looks fun tho.
Civics Are overrated bland shit boxes. And it doesn't help that almost every highschool kid has a 99 civic and thinks it's a race car
If you feel happy driving his car, what's the cost if you pay a little extra for a smile on your face
I have a 2013 genesis coupe and let me tell i love the car but after having it for about close to 18 months im beginning to feel indifferent about it. When are you going to get topless in a review. .. in say a Nissan 370z or BMW 4 series?
In the EU we have g100 1.5l g120 2.0l and the top of the line petrol is the same 2.0l with 165hp and 210nm/155lb ft
damn that hatch looks good !!

Thinking about getting this car with 60,000 on it anyone got a long term review? Trying to make this my daily for work

OMG soo jealous! I want that aero package in my car!! D:
Solid review (Nice job Emmie), but the only gripe I have with the Mazda 3 2.5 is the price. At the $25k price point, you can upgrade to faster and more fun to drive offerings such as the Accord Sport 6MT, Civic Si, and base VW GTI. And why can you get a Mazda6 2.5 6MT for cheaper than a Mazda3 2.5 6MT? SMH Mazda.
She's a little EXTRA right now.
The only thing missing was Emme's Laundry Baskets! LOL I think the haters secretly love you. XOXO. :) Another awesome review Emme!
Mazda should hire Emme for doing this. Come on guys! give here a round of applause for giving a hype on this car! For all women out there this is the car for you! yay!
2:38 sounds like an impression of a car hitting the redline.
It's a nice pleasure to drive car, but nearly 29K dolars for a compact it's too much. I will go for the basic model under 20K. Nice review Emme!
I wished I could have waited for that Mazda. I got a Focus, fun car but no HID's or Headup display/
Nice review.. amazing car..
She drives like a boss
How are the motor mounts? On my 07 they are soo soft that when I put my foot in it, the tires break loose and theres a loud banging noise under the hood.
My mounts broke on 2005 model.
They are pretty cheap and easy to replace.
ER B That's ford shit parts for you. Unbelievable. And mine cost 300$ at dealer.
I'm pretty sure I'll have a 1st gen 3 in a few months, and when the mounts break I'll fix it myself if they haven't already been replaced.
Make sure your rustproof those Mazdas.
"I am not one to hold back." Never would have know from the hair. Ever. Just joking here. Don't want to be a hater.
Mazda 2007 bby
Emme, where you able to test this car in the snow? Being in the North East im considering the 3 but it needs to be decent in the snow.
I have am 08 gt and it's pretty good in the snow with the right snow tires so I'm sure it's good
set of winter tires will solve any winter weather anxiety
I have winter tires on my 2012 Jetta and its an absolute mess in anything more than 2 inches. And yes I know how to drive in snow.
I have a 2014 Mazda3 and its just fine in snow, though the snow hasn't been as bad this year as in previous years.
Anthony Cuda Seriously? I have all season tires on my winter beater, a 1999 Toyota, and it does just fine!
Hahaha..Just love your review. I wish I could have taken the drive with ya. :)
I'm Sold..love the Blue.
Emmy over Nathan all day, every day
She told us to BUY this car???? It is $28,000 for a Compact car, You can get a base Mustang for that, NO THANKS!!!
Great info man. Thanks. :)
Yes and no. The regenerative braking is only available with the optional $2,600 technology package.
Ismael Rivera aahh I was unaware it was an option. I just assumed it was all inclusive under the skyactiv name plate
Nathan Flowers it's a cool feature, but I'm not sure I'd like to pay so much just for the i-ELOOP, although there are a couple more things the package adds, just can't remember.
is that the body kit a standard feature on gt model only ?? beautiful blue color...

I need some advice. Between the honda civic si (probably the sedan) and the mazda 3, which one would you prefer? I have to buy a car in a few months and im looking for a fun to drive car but also a practical daily driver. Oh yes and i prefer manuals :)
I know the 155hp is about 7-8 seconds so is the 184HP a 6 second car or...?
What's the legroom like in the rear seats? Can an adult sit comfortably in them?
My 2015 mazda 3 has no cruise control... what trim is my mazda ??
Likely the base model.
Lol my 2009 base elantra had cruise control. I bought it for $2700 in 2020 at 60,000 miles but my mom wrecked it 2 weeks ago. 🥲
no 0 to 60? really trying to find this out for this bodystyle and engine size, already know the fundamentals of fun to drive since it seems it more targeted to car enthusiast.
Nice car but the black non body colored mirrors really stick out like a sore thumb to me.
That is your main Con for the car? omg some people..
I am looking to get either 2.0 or 2.5 but wonder if the 2.5 is worth the extra $.
theAnalyst what did u end up getting?
How's the touch screen in the sunlight?
Reviewed elsewhere as having a very hard ride, and the sky active engine being very noisy when cold.
Not a bad car otherwise but I don't like the large grille, looks odd?
Would this be a good first car? What do you guys recommend?
The old 2.3 revs to 7200 I love my car
They were made to be revved. I laugh at people who call these Mazdas slow. Take a ride with me. It won’t be slow trust me!
@@buchajo they are slow now after owning some fast cars 😂😂
@@74sickness now don’t go racing Corvettes with this car for sure lol
Hey Emme, how would you compare this against a 2.4 Civic Si?
In fact I have never seen TFL reviewing ANY HONDA! What´s up with that?
+marcusdumitru They reviewed the 2015 Honda Fit
this mazda 3 dont compete with the civic Si. get the speed then we can compete that with the Si.
btw, im strictly talking about the 3 GT. both n/a engine (2.5 mazda = more torque vs 2.4 civic = more hp), both around the same price range, both with manuals. the si has gone too soft that the only real difference between these two is that the si has lsd...so yeah these two do compete. the speed3 competes more with the focus st and the gti (similar price range, turbo). and I own a 13 si.
Any idea on 0-60 time? Just wondering if there was any difference in performance between the AT and MT. I'm this close to buying a Mazda 3 GS 2.5 liter... final decision: is it worth it to spend an additional USD 1K to have the AT?
I test drove both transmissions yesterday and I thought the AT was a bit quicker
That is the driver who loves redlines!😮
Oh I'm getting one of these for my be gift to myself soon
dual outlet does not mean dual exhaust
The shaking and extraneous refocusing of the camera in this video is very distracting.
Does that have the appearance pack on it?
Can i order the bigger 18" rims on the "i" series line? I dont want or need the bigger engine.
Is that any different between mazda 3 2014 and 2015 ?
+Trung Việt Hàn Some of the trim levels didn't have the touch screen on the 14s. The 15 had alot more standard features but the GTs are pretty much the same.
