    Hey Stefan, I’m interested in buying a libelle and since you’ve owned one in the past, I would like to ask if you know what’s the maximum height of person that can fit in a libelle?

    • @soaruk3697
      @soaruk3697 3 года назад

      Depends if you want to use the 'Ned Kelly' racing or raised canopy...... I'm 1.83m and can fit in a Libelle with the 'Ned Kelly' racing canopy.

    • @SteFly
      @SteFly  3 года назад +1

      I´m 1,80 m and it was ok with the flat canopy. How tall are you?

    • @markwilson56
      @markwilson56 3 года назад +1

      Depends on leg length - accommodates long legs well. Long back not so much. Shoulder width can be more of an issue than height. Try first. Great machines with excellent feedback and ability to find, centre and use lift - if you fit.

    • @TheNeimster
      @TheNeimster 3 года назад +1

      I was similarly worried before I bought mine, which has the taller canopy. I’m about 186cm, (6’1”) with shorter legs than average for my height. My knees are snug under the panel with the fiberglass seat back in (some have removed these in the past, maybe not a certified mod), a normal backpack parachute, and a 1” cushion. As has been said, shoulder width can be the limiting factor. A good, long trial fitting with all the gear is the only real way to know. Good luck!

    • @SteFly

      It completely depends on the type of glider. You can get good older gliders for 15k € and a new 18 m class glider costs 220k €.

    • @SteFly

    • @lukasernst4033
      @lukasernst4033 3 года назад +6

    My dad had several Cessna’s during his flying career. He had to get a 100hr service regularly. Is there something similar for gliders? Is this 3k service an industry mandate or is it a manufacturers recommendation?
    I recommend for anyone else doing this type of video to add a voice over descriptive. What is going on? Why the change?

    • @SteFly
      @SteFly  3 года назад +3

      Gliders usually don´t have 100 h checks. Only 3000 h or 6000 h and the annual check. These are mandatory. Of course there are some parts which need to be replaced from time to time, like the belts, hooks,... I was also planning to do a voice over but had no time to do so.

    • @MehdiAMINI123
      @MehdiAMINI123 3 года назад

      The 100h check is something mandatory in the US when an aircraft (including gliders I believe) is used "for hire". Insurance companies may also require it for clubs.
      That said the 100h is a very light inspection compared to what was done here!
      Here it is more akin to the engine overhaul on airplane, for example a Lycoming 160-hp engine (which you may find in small Cessna and other similar) has a 2000h TBO (time between overhaul).
      These are all manufacturers specific, I don't think there is a regulation preventing you from flying without following the manufacturer maintenance recommendation in the US (as far as I understand the FAA verbiage...), what about Europe?
