Small tip for playing modern SPGs: You can now use a keybind to switch VT shells to have an impact fuse, making them work like normal HE. So using only VT shells is slightly better than normal HE now since you can engage aircraft more quickly.
Its especially useful on the bkan 1c, because now you can be both an AA and an SPG,and combining that with the new ammo boxes the bkan got some pretty nice indirect buffs

This happened after bug reporting on the original reload (10 seconds), which was outragiusly innacurate. However, the reload still is innacurate. In real life, the pzh 2000 has a 3 round burst fire, which outputs the 3 rounds in 9 seconds (3 seconds per round), otherwise for sustained fire the pzh has a rpm of 10 (a round each 6 seconds). Furthermore, the pzh model lacks spall liners, which are present on other artillery vehicles in wt, such as the PLZ05. This does beg the question of why gaijin didn't include this feature of the pzh 2000, which as far as i'm aware, is present on all existing variants. Aside from all my rambling, great video as always Spook. Note: for more accurate information look at the replies in my comment, they have much more reliable information.
a 3 round burst is 4.5s a round, burst fire speeds are measured with a round already in the breech. dropping to 4.5s for the first two reloads then 6 seconds for the secondary ready rack, then down to 10s for the extended ready rack would be about ideal for accuracy. Remember as well its a semi-auto loader not a full autoloader, loading speed will flatulate according to the amount of charges loaded (which is 4 max IIRC?), only the round is autoloaded, which does speed it up immensely but not evenly. Every single "look how fast we can load" video uses a single charge, which means a MUCH lower velocity. Would be rad to actually have that be a selectable option to trade speed for velocity but Gajin would fuck up the system massively if they tried to add it CX
I have almost 2000 hours but you dont need to be a professional player.. You just laser range find the distance, aim at some point maybe gun breach or cupolas, and tge enemy is just gone when you fire:D i always finish in the top 3 with this thing.
Quick tip, if you use a custom sight, the range finding is instant, instead of waiting 1 second. You can litteraly click rangefind and shoot 0.1 second after
They just don’t want you to know that they kept working on the maus post war and have fixed the issues with transmission and engine so the swapped the armament and gave it a new camo and called it an artilley instead.

Little rant about game mechanics So you're telling me that there is a SPG with 5 second reload rate that can one shot consistently but die very easily And we have a Conqueror (British heavy tank) that has a 19 second reload rate that can but doesn't very often one shot enemy tanks and has mediocre survivability Man, honestly I hate the whole overpressure way the game is going because I'm a much bigger fan of thick armor and long battles than just shooting once with HE and boom we're done I know "just get good" but honestly I remember how horrible the experience was in a Conqueror when Vidar came out. They should heavily nerf the overpressure or just straight up rework but because for me they are doing everything they can to discourage coming back to their game (haven't played for a bit and it looks like it is not going to change) And for everyone saying negative stuff on my rant: that's ok, I'm not a hardcore player and I may have skill issue or something but I just want to have fun playing the game
You're not wrong. I've been playing WarThunder litterally on and off since beta and it's just not fun to play anymore. You either are playing with (or against) people who are so new to the game they're basically free kills or lobbies so sweaty they'd give counter strike lobbies a run for their money. Between BR compression, CAS, the insane grind, and the match making it's just not fun anymore. I hope one day the game changes and I can come back and actually enjoy playing it again, but I'm not holding my breath.

They should have never started adding artillery vehicles limited to HE when the maps dont allow it. I have a challenge idea. It's basically the British armored doctrine they used for Operation Market Garden. You cannot fire unless fired upon. You can use any nation and any vehicle, but you can't shoot the enemy unless they shoot first.
Day 60 of telling spookston to play the IT1. its a ATGM launcher on the t62 chassis, it has decent-ish mobility, the turret is squished. You can hide behind cover and shoot ATGM over the cover like a gremlin and you overpressure tanks (tho it can be rare, but it does happen without you realizing) and its MG is really werid. Also it has a cool reload animation.
Yeah, at this point they should make the game like a custom battle where a 1.0 can fight a 13.0 if SPG from 1998 is fighting anything from World War 2. Gives me R3 T-20 vibes when it was at 3.3 trashing Stuarts, Chaffees, and Shermans, on a regular basis with its 20mm Auto cannon.
The trick in one-shooting a Maus with an HE shell is to hit that small armor plate on the hull beneath the guns. If you pen that, you will over-pressure the whole tank, since you technically penned the armor and that seems to count for that mechanic.
with artillery vehicles, you can now decide to take only VT fuze shells, as they added a keybind to switch the fuze from radio to impact, so you dont need to worry about loading either HE or VT for whatever engagement you're in. i dont know if the 2000 has any meaningful difference between those two rounds, but it would be cool to see you test it out and see if it improves your performance at all!
You can easily overpressure the Maus by hitting the raised shielded bit on the hull. Below the turret is the engine compartment and doesn't overpressure, but below that bit sticking out is the driver and that will overpressure the whole crew.
Asking Spookston to play the goofy looking but speedy Ito90M as it's pretty fast SPAA and it's missiles are pretty good as well and he could add the LEOPARD 2A6 to the loadout to make it even more finnish

Tbh you should just drop the realism debate, the game is entirely unrealistic, and the gameplay should take priority. These vehichles have better firepower and mobility than things at their BRs aswell as now having their already decent survivability buffed by the ammo box change which is one of the stupidest and unnecessary things I can imagine being added to SPH. I mean heavy tanks are pretty pointless to play with these things zooming around firing 3x as fast as you with LRF.

When Spookston said “isn’t this things are supposed to be armoured!” most modern NATO support vehicles like artillery, ambulances, and even IFV’s are very lightly armoured, they are only designed to protect the crew from small arms fire a grenade can go through the hull, because anything more heavy will be a waste of fuel and artillery is just supposed to get into a position fire and leave before counter artillery can respond.
8:05 well, irl it has to do with how the autoloader works, since they are sorted by shelltype in the rack so the autoloader can always grab a shell of every type that is in its rack
There is a key bind you can set to chance the fuze on proxy shells. Either their proxy setting or to impact. It makes it so you don’t have to take several types of ammo.
Don't forget there is now a new key binding under weaponry to switch fuses between impact and radio fuze. (Search controls for fuze). Then you dont have to bring standard HE if its the same as the PF variants, and can just set PF to impact mode (no need to switch ammo, just press a key)
oh btw, spook, you can only use the proxi round and change the fuse between contact and radio. you have to assigne a key for it in the settings. then u dont need to change the whole shell everytime u wanna shoot a plane

When Spookston said “isn’t this things are supposed to be armoured!” most modern NATO support vehicles like artillery, ambulances, and even IFV’s are very lightly armoured, they are only designed to protect the crew from small arms fire a grenade can go through the hull, because anything more heavy will be a waste of fuel and artillery is just supposed to get into a position fire and leave before counter artillery can respond.

8:05 well, irl it has to do with how the autoloader works, since they are sorted by shelltype in the rack so the autoloader can always grab a shell of every type that is in its rack
There is a key bind you can set to chance the fuze on proxy shells. Either their proxy setting or to impact. It makes it so you don’t have to take several types of ammo.
Don't forget there is now a new key binding under weaponry to switch fuses between impact and radio fuze. (Search controls for fuze). Then you dont have to bring standard HE if its the same as the PF variants, and can just set PF to impact mode (no need to switch ammo, just press a key)
oh btw, spook, you can only use the proxi round and change the fuse between contact and radio. you have to assigne a key for it in the settings. then u dont need to change the whole shell everytime u wanna shoot a plane
