Corey Harris Very much appreciated. Stay tuned, I just installed the H4 Headlight upgrade kit and put in LED bulbs. Super clean OEM look with brighter lights.
My boi, Big thanks for the vid. Headlights was tripping then finally went out, saw your vid and swapped it out yesterday and now I wait til night time to bring out the 87 Aerocoupe lol. Good stuff !!
Yo after I change this switch out the car won’t start, I turn the key over and nothing happens any information on what I did maybe……..I figured it out the 8mm bolt that hold the dimmer switch also hold an switch that connect to the ignition, had to realign that switch and it started back up but thanks for the video got my low beam back working g
My bad dawg it's called a dimmer switch lol... it's been years since I've done it. That's exactly what I was trying to explain it was and I'm happy that you got it working. Keep the good videos rolling!
this is happening to me too. but its not my headlamps its my turn signal lights!!!.This is my 1985 monte carlo with cornering light, the CL edition, i replaced the front driver side turn signal pigtail socket and the light has no running light, but it does blink when you turn the right signal light on, but once you turn the signal off the light goes off( no running light), but the passanger turn singal light is still on and works. i dont understand??
That's what's up! Thanks for showing that there is only one screw on the switch. I was wondering how I would get that out without taking the whole dash apart.
Thanks for actually showing the bad switch and how it doesn’t click next to the new switch and how it is supposed to click, that showed me what I needed to know that my switch was bad. Much obliged. Keep up the good work!
Great video! Just inherited a 1987 Monte Carlo SS with 305 HO (High Output). The headlights were not working at all. Upon dropping the steering column, I notice the electrical pigtail was not plugged into the switch. Of course I plugged it in and still no highlights. The switch would not click. The switch itself had 2 each 8 MM screws securing it to the steering column. The screw on the front (toward the driver's seat) was fairly easy to remove but the rear screw, it was impossible to remove as I just couldn't reach it. Solution, just twist the switch until it broke at the screw connection. I was able to mount the new switch, but inserting the rear screw, forget it. The lights work fine now so If you were wondering why you only had a single mounting bolt on the front of the switch, it is because the switch was replaced in the past and the installer, just like me, couldn't mount the rear screw. Again, many thanks!
Yup it was the dimmer switch. The most time consuming part was taking off those 2 small bolts where the switch is held . Holy crap there is no room to work . But thanks for the vid! Going to finally take it out on a spin this weekend
If the fuse is ok, I would check the bulb connectors for corrosion or shortage in the wires. You can get pigtail replacement harness and make it all fresh connectors.
So my low beams work but when i click my brights they pop on then straight off but long as i hold it the high beams will stay on do you think this could be the same issue?
Hey bro. I’m having the exact same problem with mine lol I’m getting the part in the morning and thanks to this amazing video? I’m installing it myself. Not being a car guy myself? I find this video to be amazing and helpful and extremely insightful.
Man you got a sub for a life time thanks for the tip you King
