This is the MINI clubman which means its a touch larger than the standard cooper 4 door but leaner than the SUVish Countryman we just drove…but more thn that this is the habanero infused John Cooper Works model so let’s see what that means
Right from the jump i can sum it up for you in a single word
RIOT
This thing is a menace and it’s all about personality and fun
Under the hood thumps a turbocharged 2 liter 4 cylinder that’s dialed up to 301 hp and 331 lbft. All that power gets to all 4 (get it) wheels through a snappy 8 speed transmission.
And like we said in the Countryman JCW, oh 300 hp doesn’t sound like a lot
BUT this is small
It’s light
It’s chuckable
It’s just about 3600 lbs and it likes to boogie
And yanno what you need to boogie? Music. Which is exactly what comes out the back end of this car
The exhaust is so raucous - i love it
The transmission adds drama to gripping the paddles and makes it worth it to shift yourself
You’ve got sport suspension keeping the chassis flat
And the steering is nice and hefty
I mean it’s just FUN everywhere
The whole personality of the car is about not taking itself too seriously and while you might be fooled by the serious and somber blacked out look, just take a peek aat the big red brakes and the blue mutlitone roof….oh yeah it’s a MINI
I dont think MINIs ever really gret brought up when hot hatches are talked about..
BUT THEY SHOULD BE
I’ve had more fun here than in a GTI
It’s got power on par with Civic Type Rs and Corolla GRs
and with markups on those you’re not even paying that much more
And you get a BMW interior, not a Toyotas

I regret selling my 2 door MINI JCW a couple of years ago. Great second car, oozing with personality. My only wish was that it had a 3rd suspension setting for a less stiff ride. All 3 of my MINI's over the years were very reliable.
This is why I bought a 2019 JCW Clubman. Down on power but that's the last year you could get the 6-speed gearbox.
I love these reviews with less than 10 minutes. I already watch 20+ minute reviews all the time. I appreciate these shorter more concise ones as well. Great job.
These ooze "Cool" - today most cars are bland and drab and then there are cars that make a statement like these ! And boy do they ever...for those of us who can appreciated something special when we see it - what's not to love about this beauty?!....my 2024 JCW Clubman arrives this weekend and I for one am happy to be getting the last iteration of what is truly a genius and passionate fusion with sports up the wazoo - and I love the review you just did - thanks for that from all us MINI fans - well done ! 🙂
Thank you for the Review! I pick up my 2023 JWC Clubman in rebel green next week. I found out they are no longer building the clubman in the JWC after this year so I had to snag it. You are right about the rear doors, I'll purposely put stuff in the back just so i can open it.

You change the interior. They have brown ,blue ,grey,white. You can also choose of you want the dashboard to be illuminate to depends on the color trim you use . You can also change the rims to a top trims to

My wife and I have been looking for the next family hauler. My wife has been looking at the CX5 and RAV4. I’m not an SUV guy. I’m more of a wagon/hatchback person. I really like the driving dynamics of a car. But the only issue is that there isn’t really much options out there in the market for an estate/ wagon in the US. Some are out of my budget but the affordable ones… I’m not really feeling it. The jcw clubman is the only car that her and I agreed on and are excited to test drive this month. I’m praying that she will like the cargo space as we have two kids.
Great review in a nutshell -the production in Europe will be ceased end of 23. I just ordered a JCW Clubmann in chilli red (no bonnet stripes) with the classy brown chester leather. Can't wait for it.

Great review . This car looks perfect. I am looking for a car which I can sleep in the back ( can’t always be bothered to put tent up) . Does any one know if you can put the back seats down in the clubman to create a flat bed sizeable enough for a 5 foot nine person ? If so this could be the one! I think the sun roof is also a good feature especially with tinted rear windows.!

I really don't get why these are so slept on. A 300+ hp (they are underrated from factory) awd hot hatch for less than $50k. I've had 2 MINIs in a row, absolutely love them!
JCWs are definitely sleeper/undercover hot hatches (I have the 2022 3-door JCW). Sadly, this is the final year of Clubman production.

No one talks about the mini gp3 which gaps the Corolla gr, the Subaru sti and the civic type R all on the track and in a straight line even from a dig which is crazy considering it’s awd vs fwd. mini is on another level!
Exactly, the GP3 is what I have and it has a really good boost by gear setup, traction control and a good LSD. Absolute beast of a car, the only cars to actually blow my doors off on the street have been a BMW M5 and a C8 Z06... which are higher caliber cars... I at least put up a fight with most cars, and can flat out beat Challenger/Charger Scatpacks and Mustang GTs. I even chased down an Audi R8 on a curvy backroad one day and actually was even keeping up on a straight away... but I think it was a V8 model.

Pre-LCI models (2019 and older), had the manual option.
I love the idea of this car and like the quirkiness Mini tries for. This is a hot hatch with personality and that is a nice option in todays beige world of generic SUVs.
I agree. I wish hatchbacks got more love. I have had a FiST myself for seven years. I just hope it lasts another seven.

@@aroundomaha yeah, it was either the fiesta or the BRZ for me. But, I typically drive around 70 miles round trip to work in traffic. So, the low end torque was a no brainer.
The perfect review I'm looking for, I just wish I could get the JCW I configurated but world's going expensive and electric

Didn't een know the Clubman JCW existed :) MC needs to spend money on advertising...MORE.
Would have liked to have known some performane nubmers e.g. 0--60....for the heck of it. And how quiet it is inside driving int he city/hwy.....how is the suspension? Does it soak up the bumps int he rod?? etc.
CONS--3600 pounds for a car this size....not good. (11 Carrera are about 3200 pounds...larger car, larger engine (of course)...etc.
I wish I had known about this car… 😢

The clubman makes me wonder why tf there is a 4 door "regular" Mini. No wonder that thing sells like dog water lol. This JCW clubmans very nice! Its either this or the 2 door real MINI JCW/ S to me

In my opinion the pre- LCI was better, too much screens and touch buttons now, and also the GPF
Please ease off on the background music a bit. It overwhelms everything at the start of the video especially. Lower it a decibel or so.

Luxury interior, not quite, it looks unsophisticated and toy like. Exterior wise the Clubman is the best looking Mini you can buy.
To me that’s kinda the charm of the mini. That it feels like a toy, it’s light, it doesn’t take itself seriously
