    I remember requesting Lantern a while ago and getting a response saying you'd do it. I've been wondering where that video was for a while, but having seen the length of the video... that must have taken a lot of work.

    I'm surprised the list you shared doesn't run at least a 1-of The Underworld Cookbook. It works amazingly well with Ensnaring Bridge and pretty much automatically solves the Burn matchup

    • @fransiscofranco641
      @fransiscofranco641 Год назад

      I can see that, but it’s hilarious to think that turning your cards into overcosted healing salves is actually a viable countermeasure to burn.

    • @herbb10
      @herbb10 Год назад +1

      @@fransiscofranco641 its not a specifically a counter to burn its a saga target to get rid of a clunky hand with multiple lands or bridges for example

    • @Luna19912
      @Luna19912 Год назад +1

      @Throngler Burn is a bad matchup for Lantern because of the redundancy of the cards, the low power of the creatures, and the fact that burn spells can ignore Bridge. Cookbook can make your hand count low enough to where Bridge stops burn's creatures before they can do any major damage, and by continually making food every turn, can negate all of burn's direct damage

    • @marcobiraghi
      @marcobiraghi Год назад

      Burn is a stonks matchup for Lantern, cookbook helps a lot (also makes chonky constructs), and if you play Shadowspear mainboard or sideboard, you just tutor it and swing with a single construct to tilt the game into your favor.
      Also, once you have cookbook and a few mill rocks, you can just focus on your opponent’s topdeck and discard your meh draws.

  • @youngthinker1
    @youngthinker1 Год назад +2

    Something to note, you cannot respond to mana abilities with mill stones. Some mana rocks generate mana and draw a card at the same time. Others do not.
    I see this as only relevant to decks that use Chromatic Sphere. Chromatic Star's draw activates when it leaves the battlefield.

    i play a mono blue list right now
    you give up tha hand control but got metallic rebuke and counterspell as replacement
    i play 3 surgical extractions mainboard
    with cards like fabricate i can find the needed pieces
    whir of invetion is also possible bur with my landbase not consistent castable
    otwara is an extra removal
    and i play 2 aether spellbomb with 3 emry and 4 mishras bauble
    because of being mono colored i can use lands like invertors fair and ghost quater to further control the game
    in my opinion its better placed right now than the abzan version because you get around much hate against it
    emry mainboard is a bomb if dropped turn 2
    metallic rebuke also online on turn 2
    (both turn one possible if double bauble)
    emry also helps otawara and is an extra card draw cause the main cards are all artefacts
    aether spellbomb is a poor excuse for a removal but surprisingly buys enough time against most decks und is super to constantly disrupt creature combos
    sideboard gives good oportunity for matchups like control and suspend
    invasive surgery and mystical dispute do the trick
    2 brain stones are perfect agains kombo or tron
    narset can help through tough value matchups

      @@KuzaFkto It's not... great, but it's playable. Expect it to be a serviceable fringe deck that can win you games vs less skilled players and non-T1 decks, basically. If you want complexity, Scales is probably the strongest of the triad mentioned in the video, but Lantern can function, and is relatively affordable by Modern standards.

      Micosynth gardens are stonks. They set mill locks faster and act as a backup of any going-to-be-removed artifact.

    You're honestly overhyping this deck. It's not really difficult more so than it is bad. I don't know which decks you've been playing for 12 years, but every meta has forced me to know my opponents' decks inside and out. Bad doesn't mean unviable and I appreciate the work that went into the video, but that doesn't change these facts.
