Rick danko bass playing .... INCREDIBLE!
these voices are great together.RIP Rick,Richard and Levon
Rick!! The voice AND that bass!
Yes, it seems they could play this song a couple ways, but they all cook.
Incredible!! I only knew Bob's version from the "basement tapes" which I think is the best one, but this one is good too, in a different way.! didn't know they took it without him by the way..
Well Rick Danko, the Band bassist, cowrote this song so...
Don't forget Music from Big Pink often had creative sessions with Bob, and Richard co authored "I shall be released". Collaborated with other legends, as well, e.g., Van Morrison on Cahoots Album.
@@davidblank9564Richard didn't co-write "I Shall Be Released" with Bob. However, he DID co-write "Tears Of Rage" with Bob.
I thought I should say that Robbie (the guitarist) barely ever sang, if ever. I know he never sang live, so his mic is just off when they sing, then he talks in between and they turn it off.
He did sing lead or co-lead on a few. Those include "Knockin' Lost John", "To Kingdom Come", "Ain't No More Cane" (old folk song), "The Last Waltz (Refrain)", "Bessie Smith" and that's it(?) Don't think I forgot one.
@@RockinAllDayHe sang on Out of the Blue on The Last Waltz album
@@brandonmclendon5368 I was looking for my comment to edit it after I remembered. Thanks.
It worked out well that Rick ended up singing this this one.
Last Waltz
I AGREE !
Was this on the last waltz?
Yes
Robertson could not sing , they turned his mike off ... such a poser .
Have you heard “out of the blue” it features Robbie on vocals and it’s pretty good
Couldnt care less. Dude played the hell out of his guitar
How is he a poser? You sound like a moron. They have 3 great other voices leading the way why would they need Robbie. He’s too busy killing the guitar
And he wrote all most of the songs. The Band had 3 great singers (Rick Danko is my favorite) so no reason to worry about Robbie's singing.@@iagoribeiro4940
That poser wrote most of the songs for The Band. Why is everyone on Robbie about his singing, he wrote the songs, played killer guitar, he had 3 great singers, give it a rest.
