Great video! Perfect timing since so many are working from home now.
Briefly, if you are going to use the webcam sporadically to make video calls, I recommend the C270 because of the price, but if you use it more often to make online transmissions or if you are a streaming professional, I recommend the C920 because of the quality.
That was interesting thanks, I totally preferred the smaller image, tighter frame, plus the focus was excellent. Sound better too.

I'd recommend going on offerup, they're still being sold there. I'm getting a used c270 through there while I wait on the superrr long shipping for getting a reasonably priced c920 once it's back in stock.

I have a cheap little Asus Chromebook C201 that serves me well, especially when travelling, but the spec.'s don't list details of the camera so would the C270 be a big upgrade in video quality are hardly noticeable? I appreciated this video review and think for the price, durability for travelling, and what I'm using it for the C270 is the better choice for me right now but curious to get your input on how much if any video quality I'd gain by using it for Zoom calls. Thanks!
There is a noticeable delay in the sound matching the image for the C920. Is that because of post-production audio sync, or because the sound is delayed with that camera?

he there , i wondering how can you mirror the c270? it was possible with some older updates and you had way more features with settings! or do i miss something? your only have the advance tab and you can only play with the brightness, contrast, color, white balance.. any idea? i was looking for the older drivers but cant find it anymore!! I agree the mono C270 sounds better than the stereo C920. This may be due to something called phase cancellation, prevalent in stereo sound. In phase cancellation the two signals from the two microphones arrive at the listener by a slightly different path length and potentially out of phase, so that a peak from one mic arrives with a trough from the other mic - cancelling each other out.
This raises the question Is stereo desirable for the spoken voice?
You are right, and no, stereo is not for voice recording, only for music, what it once was developed for.

C270 served me for more than 5 years, and I was always happy with video and sound quality. Recently I needed a second camera and decided to see if technologies developed over the years - bought a hires camera from some Chinese brand. What a crap it turned out to be... C270 still beats these new "1080p" cameras by a mile.
Same experience here. That's what brought me here; my suspended disbelief that the 720 is as good a the 1080 cams lol
I am Qualitative researcher and I have to do lots of online focus groups nowadays from COVID-19. I keep looking for webcam with good voice and not sure which one should I get between these two.

I love my C920. Used with OBS, I get auto focus, zoom to wider or narrower views. I have two and paid between 70 and 90 dollars for each. Well worth it as I expect them to last though classroom sessions and months in central Europe

Highly recommend you light your tests well before recording (especially important for the side by side real world example shots). Any camera will only show its true potential in those circumstances.

The C270 is the most widely compatible camera in existence, it will work even with FreeBSD right out of the box, and the same with any Linux distro.
Can you do a comparison of the Logitech line of gaming headsets?

Great review and comparison! I have the C920 and it works perfectly, most of the time, but I've had video calls where the recipient has reported feedback / echo from their own voice. Has anyone else seen this and does anyone have any tips (except for using headphones)? Thanks!

You could check your mic input level! It might be too high so it picks up any sound. However, it's a bit hard to avoid echoing, it's usually done in software, for example, Zoom is pretty good in that.
I have the c270 and after watching this video i'm going to pass on upgrading to the c920!
This! I just bought the c270 (it's going to take a few weeks to arrive though) and was thinking if I'd regret it. After watching this video, I know that I won't. They actually seem to have pretty similar quality (pixel density?) for showing his face, the main difference being the angle of view, as he points out.
Works great! Exactly what I needed.
Its states on the c270's box that it has background noise cancelling but it does not, I have one and you can hear everything, so for streaming yes you can hear the fans in your tower.
Is the image of far distance bend/curved using C270?

Hi! I recently bought the c270. However, I have an issue with the mirror image and tried everything to fix it but nothing works. Do you have a solution to that? I've installed the drivers. It does give me the option for brightness etc, but no option to disable the mirror image.
Have the C270, it's great for Teams and Zoom calls. Its not some iPhone camera but it's pretty good for $34.00!

Had C920 so great no web cam can beat it but its cable snapped which is common with this device

Given where the microphones are, you are not going to really get stereo. The C270, even 3 years later, is still a great choice. I think the main thing is the field of view with the C920. Resolution makes a small difference. Auto Focus is likely another thing if you move around a bit, but the 270 was pretty good.
I think I'd still grab the 270 at the price.
iam also thinking to buy 270 because its audio is equal to his original mic quality . he saying it is not good to stream but i guess it is well in streaming also

Which one is better?
I've already had three of those wonderful c270s over the years. The first one lasted four years of intensive use. The second one two years of even more intensive use. Not complaining, they served very well. Its 720p is massively better in quality than all of those chinese 1080p new webcams.... And the microphone is by far the best built-in mic out there, it's just amazing for what it is...
But I'm just wondering if we are being unfair with the mic on the c920. I don't have one, but in your comparison it looks that it has that crappy Right Sound logitech noise suppresion enabled (which is crappy as well on the c270), and it's definitely disabled in your c270 mic test. Just a guess...
So on SLOBS, I am able to zoom in and out using the software given from SLOBS with the C270 which is great for my green screen. But does the 920 give the option to zoom in as well? Just got a web cam that did not give a zoom option because of the fixed lenses.
Just checked out a video on the Logitech software and it does have a zoom option in that so seems great!
Thank you for the informative video was going to buy a C920 from Pc World for £84.99 wasn't happy about the price but I suppose you get what you pay then I found out Pc World are selling the C922 for £74.99 I mean what the hell they are selling the newer model for less than the older one I for bought a C270 and have to say for being under £30 it isn't a bad webcam but it just isn't good enough for gaming or streaming just can't get a decent FPS it does work well but focus is a problem.
The C270 is fine for stuff like Skype and for people just wanting to chat to family at only around £30 it perfect for that sort of thing.
Was thinking what do I do with my C270 found out Cex is buying them for £14 so I can save even more money now very happy.

In the UK: C270 out of stock, as you'd expect but listed as £24.99 at Argos; £49.95 inc VAT from Morgan Computers new with 1 year warranty for meetings, not streaming, lower resolution is MUCH better - especially with 10 to 20 people in the Zoom, Teams, WebEx event
In this video I noted that the guy is referring to both the 270 and 720 and does not notice it. In his hand is a 720 but in the side by side comparison in the video it says 270. This may because this video is edited in parts, notice the screen flipping/jumping. I don't see any comments below so far which recognize this so just be careful.

How the heck do you pan and tilt on the C270. My old C270 could pan and tilt on windows 8.1, but my new C270 can't pan and tilt on Windows 10.

Well, the webcam doesnt matter if you want to email someone a video. You can either use a c920 or a c270, but a c920 records in 1080p and c270 records in 720p so i think c920 is a better decision.

tbh all the downsides of the C920 are big downsides, like the bad microphone or no lenses protecting from scratches, plus I don't like how the C920 has a better field of view, of course if you move a lot it's good but it just feels odd, idk, I think I will stick with my C270
Something I find quite annoying with most webcam reviews I find, is that they don't show how it looks in different lighting. My room has normal lights but I usually talk with friends online late at night, where I shut off my lights, so I want to know how the web cam will look through a dark setting. But most of these reviewers use these LED lights. So I don't really get a good look on how it'll look in my room if I buy it.

C920 and C922
C270 wins hands down, unless you are a pro streamer and are willing to overpay for the slightly better contrast handling of the c920, which is (because of this fact, that c920 has become "the stream cam" - all streamers are parroting each other and buy what all the others have) now up to 10x more expensive.
The sound is surprisingly good on the c270 and way better than on the c920. It's no use, that the c920 mic is noise free, when it sounds like from a tin jar.

I am doing a streaming web series, with a similar look to a TV news report. Can you recommend:
1. A good webcam,
2. A good telepromter app. Or maybe I will just put the webcam in front of my screen, and read from the screen. Will that work?
3. A good way to make a virtual background, so when I am sitting in my office, behind me we see the New York skyline, or the Capitol in Washington, DC, or a busy street.

Prefer the c270 , so that my student can focus on my face and my clear voice.
So basically, the Logitech C920 has an overall, better video quality and the Microphone does have Background noise cancellation, but the audio is very muffled. The Logitech C270 has slightly worse Video quality and it's Microphone has no noise cancellation but it sounds much clearer. Would not recommend any of these microphones unfortunately
