Differences in Aerith & Cloud's Date - Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

- Playing through Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, I couldn't help but notice a few of Aerith's lines were changed from the original, so I went back and filled in some of the bigger differences. I know what she says about the way Cloud moves like Zack is slightly different in Japanese, but I don't think it's as impactful as the line about wanting to actually meet Cloud.
It's kind of funny that I even managed to have footage of their original date because on that playthrough I was actually trying to get Barret since I'd never done it before, but somehow managed to screw it up. Anyway, I'm glad I was able to make something positive out of a negative, and I hope you diehard fans out there will appreciate this video too.
I know in the grand scheme of things these differences are probably negligible, but idk, I also can't seem to let this one go since it plays a major part in Cloud's characterization and his past. Am I alone in thinking this line is a pretty big deal?

Also the reason , why i dont like they changed line in english." Because right now I wanna be with you" sounds wierd. In Jp Aerith literally says she wants Cloud, its direct for us , but its not so direct for Cloud . Because he is dumb," im wanna be with you "more direct, and its kinda confession , that even Cloud should get, but its clear, that he dont get it, so its wierd.😂Its like he is ignoring her , but in reality he just dont get it . Because she says " I wanna meet you"
I didn't realize it was so different in the new one. When she says, "You're not him - and that's okay,". It sounds as if she's less certain and just accepted it as consolation prize or something. I think she sounds more adamant about her feelings in Japanese. How they are in the present - and how those feelings have changed since her first impression of him. I also kind of prefer the flow of あなたに 逢いたい and あなたを 探しているの rather than "I wanna be with you, I'm trying so hard to find you." The "I wanna BE with you" doesn't acknowledge that Aerith knows he isn't being true to himself and his identity.
Keeping the "flow" between EN and JP is one of the most difficult things to do as a localizer because of how...fragmented Japanese works as a language compared to English. I know the localizers said that was one of the more difficult challenges working on Rebirth, and while I think that's true to a degree, some of the differences in the text don't make a lot of sense to me. The delivery of Aerith's lines here are off screen for example, and I know they've made some really big changes elsewhere (Barret's "In-kweh-dible") to make me really wonder about some of the rationale behind certain choices.
Overall, I think they did a pretty good job, but I think this is unironically one of the most important lines in the entire game, and I thought fans would want to see the differences.
@@LastProtagonist I agree w you that it is the one of the most important. I do think that sentiment was expressed well by the localizers in the sleeping forest scene, but not as well on the date.
Yeah, I honestly wish they kept the line the same as the OG.
