Y’all sick if you didn’t think Chase was very fast. He is so damn explosive.
swear they don’t know what they talking about
"Chase wasnt that explosive" as he ran bye everyone in the SEC at 19 😂
Yeah that was just a bad take, he must have just completely forgotten that explosiveness was like the signature element of Chase’s game
Chase was wild at LSU. So much that he would stand out a little more to me than Jefferson.
Lmao they lost my interest and I came to comment before closing the video after that. Lost all credibility
It wasn’t just the SEC. He started out with the SEC. He went all over everybody in 2019. Him & JJ both. Those two boys went tf off on everyone that year.~ An Alabama fan.
@TylerGray-vj1fq "lost all credibility". You're not 14 anymore, people aren't wrong about EVERYTHING because they are wrong about 1 thing
Sam was on one with the Ja’Marr Chase take 🤣
They need to question A.J Terrell former Clemson Tiger current Atlanta Falcons, how fast Jamar Chase is.
@@dark8prince201he don’t know. He is still looking for that dude. Been like 4-5 years now, he still hasn’t seen anything but a trail of dust. 😂
Jermain burton sounds like the next great mid round Steelers WR
First thing I thought too 😂
Prospect fatigue with MHJ is effing real! He’s the best receiver in this draft class and should have the highest grade.
He’s not when you break down the film. He’s a great possession and finesse receiver. But in the NFL, he’s not strong enough to be a physical possession receiver like a Mike Evans. He’s definitely not fast enough to burn corners especially when they’re cornerback one on an NFL team. You can’t rely on shedding contact 100% of the time… it just doesn’t work. Especially with modern schemes where the middle linebacker will hit you and pass you off.
He has more a Michael Pittman Junior career trajectory than a generational guy like Calvin Johnson.
He just doesn’t have the raw speed it takes or the burst
That Jamar Chase comment made me sick to my stomach
Yea I have no idea what Sam was thinking there lol. Ja'Marr Chase has an argument for the best pure athlete at WR in the NFL with his combination of speed + strength. He's shown that at both the College and NFL level.
Chase’s whole game is predicated on strength and explosion. Harrison is a technician. They’re both excellent but they literally play nothing like each other
MVS has wild clutch post season stats though for all the hate. Another wild thing about his regular season stats is that they are somewhat pedestrian in spite of the fact that he's basically only ever caught balls from Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes.
Sam played himself doubting Chase's speed. That was egregious.
I can't believe with all the data and evidence we have now, people still think 40 times matter lmfao 😂.
Isn't Sam also playing himself with his Odunze take? I feel like he used those same metrics as a negative last year for Quentin Johnson.
It's just Sam being Sam, the smartest guy in the room.
They really should have restarted the show 😂
@@DreamsOfMemes_ They're a measure of speed and explosiveness. They do matter in that sense. No one claims there's a direct correlation between 40 times and success as a WR. Dismissing them as not mattering is goofy and simplistic though.
Nahh, having Brian Thomas Jr. at #16 is wilder than Simms having MVHJR at #3.
There's no way he's that much worse than Nabers. They were very similarly dangerous vs the same level of competition, and BTJR is bigger and stronger too. He's at least #6.
Regarding, BTJ. It is real. He struggled through his first 2 years but blew up his last season. He was a 5-star player who needed to grow into his ability. For his size, he has extremely quick feet for a guy his size.
Bama fan, Burton was all we had in the passing game for like 75% of the season. I see him going day 3 in mocks all the time i think thats nuts hes a top 50 player this year
Character concerns, dude punched a girl in the face on national tv, not someone organizations wants around or to deal with
@mateoedwin4202 didn't know that lol. To be fair tho he's light skin so she prolly had it coming
@@LawfulRaider😆
@@LawfulRaider 😂😂😂😂
Franklin’s 10% drop rate not problematic?
Way closer to mvs than Thomas
Sam’s rankings are just so inconsistent it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. But hey you like who you like I guess
Franklin only missed 2 passes in all of 2023. I know, I watched. He had 1380 yds and 14 TD reception's. His specs were better than MHJ. And once Franklin hits top speed nobody can catch him.
I was a Nabors guy right up until I watched Jrs tape he has ridiculous body control. One particular highlight he catches a ball on the sideline as he is being hit by the defender and somehow was able to come down with one foot in bounds it is difficult to describe without seeing it but human legs aren’t supposed to be able to do that
Definitely need a part two!
I am so happy to hear my boy Sam rank my guy Troy Franklin number four. He’s been my favorite receiver outside of the top three and a couple things have caused me to push him down and a lot of people are hating on him. I still love them.
If only 30% of first round picks are All-pros, I would love you guys to do a "draft" where you each have to pick only 30% of the projected 1st round picks, you think might be all-pros. You could also do the same with multiple-all pros or PFF WAR.
Yea a guy like lamb who ran in the 4.5s is stil amazing and it's not like he relies on his speed. 4:16
Puka Nacua ran a 4.57 I believe he was labeled slow and unathletic even tho he did the Gauntlet faster than anyone that year there are a lot of good WR who are a little bit slower still find ways to get open and and make contested catches
@@takeovamxbc3403 I've heard nacua was injured during his workout
I'm high on Troy Franklin aswell as my WR5 atm. Coleman gives me so many N'Keal Harry vibes. Not touching him in fantasy football drafts (I know you're talking real NFL and not fantasy, but still).
Sam Monson really has Tez Walker ranked 8 slots higher than Brian Thomas Jr…. Way more versatile? 😂
Tex cannot run any crossing route take him like 5 steps to slow down
My team fits for 2024 draft class of wide receivers that I will list below.
Marvin Harrison Jr Ohio State Chargers
Malik Naburs LSU Titans
Rome Odzune Washington Giants
Brian Thomas LSU Cardinals
Keon Coleman Florida State Raiders
Johnny Wilson Florida State Rams
Brenden Rice USC 49ers
Ja'Lynn Polk Washington Ravens
Luke McCaffrey Rice Broncos
Adonai Mitchell Texas Chiefs
Xavier Worthy Texas Texans
Ladd McConkey Georgia Bills
Troy Franklin Oregon Packers
Zero chance Marvin Harrison Jr Gets by AZ, they’ll take him at 4 and then WR Brenden Rice who they also had a top 30 visit with and are high on. With three 3rds picks 66, 71 , 90 n 103 top of rd4 Arizona has plenty of picks to make sure they get him if they want him. Only way SF gets him is if he falls which he won’t
Monson on a 5-minute diatribe over Odunze's flaws then calls him "an incredibly enticing prospect". Rome wasn't built in a day, but dude can ball.
Interested to know which of the top, let’s say, 10 receivers are the best with run blocking. For the Cardinals, I believe that’s going to make the difference of drafting MHJ at 4 vs trading down and taking one of the other top 2 or just waiting for one at 27 or in Day 2 or even Day 3. They want to be a run first team with playaction off of it.
Getting a dominate X helps the run game, play action, and Kyler far more than looking for another Aquan Boldin or Hines Ward. Taking MHJ is like having prime Nuk Hopkins again and that first 1.5 years Kyler had with DHop was Kyler's most promising time in the league.
@@earlmcmanus194 I don’t really disagree, but still knowing blocking ability is important. What I’m really getting at is that these PFF guys never talk about a receiver’s blocking ability and yet it plays such an important role in games. See George Pickens as the most recent example of effort, or lack thereof, in that part of a receiver’s game. Doesn’t have to be Ward, Boldin, or Fitz. Just needs to have the effort and, of course, the size, which seems to be very important for Ossenfort and Gannon in AZ.
@@bgcyrus , Fitz is the perfect example, they had Larry pass blocking near the end. Using Fitz in pass pro would have been insane to do just a few years before when he was still putting up 1k seasons as a possesion/slot guy, let alone in the late-00's when he was leading the league in TDs, having almost zero drops, and making all pro teams.
I didn’t watch his games, only went by PFF stats which showed same yds and TDs which you said but they showed 9 dropped passes equating to a 10.5% drop rate.
Ladd isnt dynamic after the catch?..... ok lol
Keon Coleman is in my top 5 as well.. his single coverage separation % is low because he just wants the jump. He usually wins it
Sam really rides the "shrug release bad" thing hard when its been pointed out to him that guys like Cooper Kupp routinely use it at a high level
Kupp really doesn't use it that much. I've just run through his snaps vs press coverage last season. He's dramatically more active with his hands than Nabers is and doing far less work trying to contort his body around the contact. It also already causes Nabers problems in routes at the college level. He gets stuck on contact far more than somebody with that skill set should. That isn't true for Kupp.
I'm riding it hard because there isn't a receiver in the NFL that relies on it the way Nabers does.
@@samuelmonson70 Trevor Sikkema has led me astray and will never be forgiven lol. Thanks for the correction and I'll keep that in mind
After hearing the Leggette comment I went and watched an interview. He legitimately sounds like Boomhauer from King of the Hill. 🤣
Troy Franklin they say is a 25-40 pick and we got him at 72. LFG
Ja'Marr Chase was a 4.3, but it was the virus year, so no combine. Basically nobody fully believed any numbers. We had edge rushers running 4.3 at Penn State, tbf.
True, but he has shown it on tape numerous times and he has a 41 inch vertical as well. Also in October, according to Next Gen Stats, Chase reached a top speed of 21.54 mph, the sixthh-fastest speed by a ball carrier at that time in the season. Questioning Chase's speed, especially as a man employed in the NFL analytic business, is just goofy based on all the evidence that suggests he is very explosive with serious wheels. We all take Ls though, and Sam definitely took one with his Chase take.
really hoping we snag some these guys in r2
Surprised you want this you wr room was great last year
@@t00mgooswe need a upgrade for robert woods
The guy in the green loses all credibility saying that Jamar Chase isn’t an explosive athlete. He ran by SEC corners and ran a 4.34 40
even tried to double down on it after looking it up smh. Didn't end up finishing the vid after that
My man ran a .38 at his pro day and plays like it, ran by Terrell about 20 times in the natty idk how y’all didn’t think he was explosive😂
I have Brian Thomas at WR5, with AD Mitchell at 4. But Pearsall, McConkey, and Worthy are right there behind those guys for me.
My rankings as well. I’d have legette over worthy though
Pearsall, mcConkey, and worthy are all my favorite WRs in the draft. I hope KC gets one of those guys.
@@kev792agreed those guys are the value wrs to take
They guys 4 through 10 are really based on a teams need. Isn't a huge gap between players
There's a lot of static on the mics in this video. And I could her the chair squeaking 😂
Go check out LSU recruiting class of WRs from this class. At one point, Burton and Rak Jarrett were committed, Nabers was an MSU commit, and BTJ was leaning Bama
the Adoni to Lamb comp is bad. Lamb was an elite ball skills guy in college. caught everything. body adjustments were crazy
I was so surprised that you didnt remember Jamar Chase being fast. Dude was blazing fast.
yall should have trev explain the leggette 5th year breakout context
I think fast and explosive would have been the first words I would have used to describe chase 😂
Welcome to Detroit Xavier Legette! Now let’s get it!
I literally don't understand the BTJ-MVS comp. BTJ had a drop rate of 7% last year, MVS was at 14% his last year in college. So at worst he's like if MVS had half as many drops, which is valuable
Yeah he is a better MVS. I see the similarities. Christian Watson also comes to mind, seems like the Packers have a type haha
@connorberglund7032 Yeah I guess I can see the comparison in terms of style, but it's like saying MHJ is the same as like Jakobi Meyers or something because they're both bigger receivers who win more with nuance than explosiveness. Watson is at least a better comparison, but he also had a way worse problem with drops and lack of consistent ball skills. BTJ has had under 9% drop rate each of the past 2 seasons (career number is inflated by his freshman year) and over 50% contested catch rate. I feel like they're really overreacting to like maybe 3 or 4 plays, especially Sam. I was with him on being low in Quentin Johnston last year because I thought his ball skills were atrocious, but I just don't even see that as a major issue for BTJ
Justin jefferson also was seen as a guy that just played in to zones and couldn't beat man. Brian thomas is a game breaker though.
Legette should be a RB/weapon player
The first 3 minutes was world-class incompetence. Even tried to double down
Loving Keon Coleman enough for him to be your WR5, but having Brian Thomas at WR16, is so wild to me lol I don’t think their playing styles are all too similar, but you basically give Keon a pass for everything wrong with his profile, and trashed BTJ for everything wrong with his 😂
BTJ in Cincy or Dallas, where he could learn some route running chops and fine tune some of the weaker parts of his game, he can be gross. If he goes somewhere to just be used as a deep ball guy, he definitely could become the next MVS or DJ Chark; a good NFL WR, but never a star.
Coleman to me is so weird. I have him as my WR9 right now, but he could easily move up with a nice landing spot. Ideal and realistic landing spots for him in my opinion are Carolina at #39 or New Orleans at #45; or if he falls to the Jags or Steelers at #48 or #51 and one of them hasn’t already taken a WR in the 1st.
The excuses for guys like Coleman and Walker but still hating on Thomas just comes across so strange.
Keon Coleman is Kelvin Benjamin 2.0
I'd say Brian Thomas is where Steve should have him he's more physical and the level of competition he was facing not 16
I have Malik Washington in my top ten
The difference with Chase and MHJ is the other team’s helmets.
Chase was jumping over Texas DBs… Moss’ind Tre Diggs and Burning Clemson DBs… running through Florida DBs.
I needs to see MHJ go off on some pros then I’ll get on the bandwagon.
MHJ had 100 yards or more the last 2 years against psu and Michigan. Guys like JPJ and will Johnson. He also had 100 yards against Toledo eho had quinyon Mitchell. I do agree the dbs chase cooked is more impressive though.
@@jacksonklark6119 yeah I think I might be wrong. The Michigan and Penn St DBs are TOUGH.
Idk why I thought he had quiet games.
But Mich Penn St and UGA are impressive big games.
Don't worry about what people bring up from the past. That should not change your list. Judges and ex girlfriends the only people allowed to bring up old shit. Ignore anyone else who does so, unless you know them and value their opinions.
Some suss takes! Seems like there isn't much consistency in these rankings for similar players.
Chase definitely ran in 4:3s
Jermaine Burton for sure a future steeler
What are these rankings based on? Cause it ain't how they'll do in the NFL...
To be fair to simms he had jj as wr2 over juedy
Harrison is bigger. Nabers is more explosive. Odunze is a dog. Cant go wrong with any of them.
In no particular order I hope my chiefs get 1 of these guys. Mitchell, Ladd, Legette, or Franklin. Go chiefs
I think Ladd might be redundant with Hollywood/Rice. You need a true 'x.' I'd target Mitchell or Legette.
XL transitioned from QB, lost both his parents, and got held up during the Covid season = Reasons he didn't break out until 5th year.
My Commanders messed up BIG TIME by trading Sam Howell, Not only do I think he could be a legit franchise QB, but having him on the roster would have freed us up to draft MHJ who is hands down the best prospect in the draft and would have given Sam & any future QB the best WR corps in the NFL to work with. JJ McCarthy is my fave QB in the draft, and that's because of considerable projection, but NO QB in this draft is better than the combination of Sam Howell/ ANY MID Tier QB + MHJ
Chase ran a 4.3 and jumped 41 inches in the vert 😂
You’re just talking crazy at this point
Sam still standing by his horrific Jamarr takes I see
Your takes aren’t bad your comparisons as in saying things like we had Zay Flowers in this spot and judging whether you were wrong or not. Zay isn’t in a system that benefits his abilities. It’s not a great comparison, and then you went on to compare him to Valdez-Scantling? Bro come on. You’re just fishing
Bruh this video should have been what we don’t like about the Wrs
Did yall actually watch Jamar Chase?
Comparing Brian Thomas Jr to Marquez is crazy work
This is an analytical point of view. Mvs is not nearly as athletic as Thomas Jr. Thomas would do well in miami or Philly
Who the hell is say Jamar is not explosive on the field
Mhj
Nabers
Adonis Mitchell
Romeo odunze
Brain Thomas jr
Ricky pearsal
Legget
Jalen Coker
David White
Ladd mcconkey
Bub means
Keon Coleman
Romain Wilson
McMillan
Hayden hatten/Polk my top 15
26:04 Thomas Junior 16th I can’t continue to listen to this
Dude after Ja’Marr Chase’s rookie season no one has any business questioning his 40 time. He made the whole NFL look slow that year. 🤦🏾♂️
Hot Take: Giants take Dallas Turner at #6. Flip the script on the league. Instead of being hunted, we now doing the hunting. Burns, Kayvon, Big Dex, Dallas Turner. Win every game 13-10 next 3 years
Ladd and Roman Wilson are the same player. Why is Ladd so much higher?
Ladd projects a lot better at being able to play on the outside
Roman is a better blocker too.
With three 3rd rounders and a 4th pick 103 I really want AZ to draft either Rome Wilson, Jalynn Polk or Brenden Rice. Imagine landing Rice n Harrison Jr in the same draft 😂😂
Coleman has N’Keal Harry written all over him
Jamar Chase didn’t look that explosive on the field 😂… now we all have to wonder if these guys even look at film or just make it all up.
Jamarr ran a 4.38.
Cmon now, wtf was that take?
yall rather blindly compare chase to mhj instead of chase to nabers who is a spitting image of jamarr on the field i dont understand how he’s not in the debate for 1 instead of ppl trying to put rome over him
Marv is a better prospect than Chase. Less explosive in every way, but still a better prospect. The hype to me is closer to Megatron/Calvin. Calvin didnt need to be blazing fast or as explosive (though for a giant dude he was plenty fucking fast).
Chase is much more like Nabors.
The real reason we think of Jamar like we do is he fell into a great situation. If any of these dudes ends up in New England (which I would argue New England should def draft Marv over QB3) he's not going to have a Chase like rookie season. Get ready for something closer to Olave rookie season. Good, not great.
The best recievers typically have good or better QBs and an above average line, and a competent play caller. If New England drafts either dude they will have none of these things yet.
Im excited to see where a lot of these great players go though.
This dude puts way too much emphasis on 40 times
Harrison looks mid 4.4 on the field.
So marvin is by far your best wr but he doesn't have the highest grade that makes zero sense how nabers is higher than him but marvin is the clear number one lol
It's like who's line with Drew Carey. The points didn't matter lol
One guy's QB is gonna go top 3, the other guy's QB transferred to Syracuse.
So... you don't understand how all this works 😂?
@@DreamsOfMemes_ yeah I understand it was just making a point of showing how much pff contradict themselves and most the time the metrics and their takes don't match at all
I think it's important to recognize that a lot of prospects who had amazing years the year before and plan on entering the draft will go out of their way to avoid getting injured.
Caleb and Drake both took some plays off this year because they had fantastic years last year and knew they could only drop in consensus with an injury. Marv did the same. He improved on some metrics, like his get off from the line and fast hands (technician stuff), but his contesting catches, and risking his body for catches wasn't as eye popping as last year. That's going to drop dudes in a pff rank.
Nabors didn't have quite as amazing a season 2 years ago, so he needed to go crazy this year, which he did. I assume pff also takes into account body size/weight which would give Nabors the advantage since he's naturally shorter and lighter than Marv. Marv would have to dominate at a higher rate just based on his size also being higher.
The guy on the right mentioned Chris Simms like a dozen times during this. Dude are you that triggered by his rankings? kick rocks
Man these two hate Zay Flowers, I thought he had a good rookie year, but what do I know???
Steve only has 50 people on his draft board!? That's some hipster shit right there. Even Belichik had more than that
LMAO WHEN WAS 4.3 NOT FAST 🤣‼️
4:15 😂😂😂
That didn't go well
@@samuelmonson70 as you were saying it I audibly said “Chase ran a 4.3”. lol. You’re point stood fwiw
St Brown would have been a much better example than Chase.
St Brown is the definition of a slot receiver, not an X, so it doesn't really translate
The arguments for Coleman being 5th for Sam are awful.
Finally. Someone that agrees with me on Thomas, Jr. Dude is a 3rd rounder.
Top guy is gonna be some random dude in the 4th round we've never heard of...
Just because puka did it last year doesn’t mean it will happen again
@@buckeye9983 Or Cooper Kupp
Or Amon Ra
I turn this off once he said that chase wasn’t explosive. Hahah
Why didn't Chase look or feel that explosive??? Why was Jefferson dubbed a slot wr and let out of the top 10??? Who knows wtf ppl thought they saw but is it really that hard to believe Chase runs low 4.3?? Have you seen his rookie film, or any film at all.. I get not knocking guys down off their 40 time because film tells all. When guys like Michael Thomas, Amon Ra, Pooka came out they were really good but didn't run fast. All of them would or could have been drafted 1st round in hindsight and young Marv looks way ahead of those guys coming out, so yeah fuck what he runs, but if we're going to keep it a buck 💯, inquiring minds still would still like to know lil homie... Just run the damn 40
There’s a reason you don’t have his 40
Man pff gotta replace this Sam Monson dude. We need some professionals reppin pff.
These guys usually go with whatever the MSM sports reporters do, I dont think they actually watch film.
You don’t think PFF watches tape…? 🤔
PFF the company that grades players play by play doesn’t watch film… yea ok
So Chase wasn’t explosive 😂😂😂😂😂😂 do these dudes watch football!??
So you completely disregard your own grades on players… strange at the very least! 🤔
They made me lose all respect for their opinions on this topic with the jamarr take holyyy
No credibility when you're making arguments for BTJ at #16 and saying that type of WR isn't valuable in the NFL anymore.
