As a fellow xcr owner I had a grin ear to ear watching this guy rip. A lot of guys have talked shit and said how old my sled was until I crossed the line first. My racing was on lakes though, that’s why this video is so impressive with this type of course.
@@PolarisRacer ya dude good riding. You were even aggressive in the corners, I know how easy they get up to speed and how crazy it can be coming up to a corner fast. I have an 03 and I know how rare they are but I liked the look of the 2000-01 best.
@@kurtistjones6337 I would pay close to 30k for a modern triple. I think the xcr 800 was one of the best sleds Polaris ever made. That sled was good out of the box, a little jetting some clutch work and setting up the suspension and it would reach the end of the lake first 95 percent of the time or more compared to anything else. Those sleds sipped fuel on trail rides also.
@@davidbrennan5 no joke, I forget the jets I ran to start with. Was like 15 years ago 😂. Probably 500 510s or something. Got like 80 miles to the tank. Remember dropping it back 3-4 sizes one at a time, really came alive then. Best thing on any sled is to get that gear ratio right, along with keeping that chain as straight as possible. Never got a chance to race a healthy thunder kitty but I can say it would have been in the fight.

If Polaris had this engine in the new machines they would have the fastest production sled bar none. The XCR gen2 chassis cant compete with new stuff. I had a 2000 XCR and it was done up by Doug Flannery and was very fast in the 1/8 mile drag racing on the ice. Somewhere out there I seen a Fusion chassis with a 800 XCR engine and it really hauled the mail.
@Paul Mazzola I know Doug. He is a polaris God. My friend has one of his engines in a 02 xcr800 and was clocked at 140mph on radar on a lake. If only the epa didn't push out triples.
@Paul Mazzola and your right about the gen 2 chassis. They will eat a grasshopper in a flat tight trail or on a top speed lake. Stutter bumps and 4 foot moguls the xcr is going to fade. Check my other videos out it's all old iron vs new. Thanks.
I've never been passed in the ditch riding my 800 xcr. On a cold day when it can grip and running lean...it takes a lot of effort just to hold on to that machine. Rebuilt mine at 6,000 miles and the cylinder walls looked brand new with that nikasil coating. It had too much power for the mouter mounts and ripped the frame apart. I had to add an aftermarket one.
I was so close to special ordering a Polaris XCR 800 for 2001, but pulled the trigger on a 2001 Ski doo MXZ Adrenaline 800 DPM. Regrets? Nah, still have the sled today. Who knew the Ole Polaris would beat so many newer sleds. Thanks for posting!
Thanks man. The Ole xcr too A slapping. I could of done it better on a twin buy it wouldn't of been as cool. I got all the loose rivits changed out finaly after that slapping.

I had no clue races like this even existed. Awesome to see an older sled beat a newer one, the turbo sleds are nice for straight seats, but some of the older ones do tend to be better in the tight stuff
nice to see this, i just purchased a 2000 XCR 800, from the original owner. (60 year old) it was very well kept and looks new. i have not yet run it with others, as it is in need of a clutch rebuild . i have a 600 xlt, and a 700 xcxp im using. all my SKI-DOO friends laugh, and say it wont come close to their $ 23,000. 900"s and 1200's. and shouldnt have wasted my $$ , well see!
Just found your channel thanks for bringing back some awesome memories snowmobiling in Maine #wymanlake200….#Snowdeoranglemaine. @@PolarisRacer I’m actually selling my mustang and going to buy another sled and plan on taking a trip to Maine for a few weeks every year. I’ll keep you posted and maybe we can get together and go for a rip.
Even a 600 would beat the khaos on that track because the khaos is more of a mountain sled and it's not really set up for this type of racing, that's why the new race sled like the xcr come with only a 128" track because the 136 and 144 are not supposed to be out of the gate turning monsters. You are also a really good driver and you would be able to beat a lot of sleds just with your driving skills.
Hey. Thanks for the response. Everything you speak is true. My 98 xc600 twin would of done its job better then the triple. It wouldn't of been as cool. Couple of my old sled friends said "I bet your gonna feel that extra 30lbs up front at the end of the day" They were some right. 75 or so runs up that mountain wide open with no time to relax took a toll on things. Hill cross is demanding.

Deff Not the Strong Suite of the XCR. It was never a big bump sled. It was and is an all rocket past the 1 mile mark.. Here in Canada. You Can drive it at 115 for miles and Not worry about the motor roasting itself.
I agree. Long live the fuji. I have another video on the lake holding her for a few mins. My friend hit 140 with his 02 xcr800 mod this year on a lake.

That fuji triple in the xcr was a monster and it was reliable. I wish they would bring triples back a 1200 would be 240hp.
for sure. it will never happen, but they aint taking what i have.
