My first time hill climbing with the ole' greasy Polaris XCR 800cc triple trail sled. 20 man hours into her the week before, tunned for elevation like a mad man before the green flag. I have 20 more runs on video, and a crash showing how steep and trenched the track was. The first race was with a turbo 850cc Khaos. A over all epic time for the first sled race ever at Saddleback mountain in Rang...

Grab some 🍿 it's a 34 min long video. These are my attempts of trying to finish the Savage track XC race in Patten, Maine. Tame the track ran a flawless program. Check out the next race March 12th 2022. I didn't get on the podium due to driveline failures all day. I did turn some good laps humbling some grasshoppers. My 10,000 mile XC 600cc got faster and faster all day if you study my lines an...

Todays fun With Polaris 2 strokes. These races are later in the day. I lost to both these sleds in the beginning of the day. Tuning them like I didn't skip a beat from snow & ice racing. The ole iron jumped in with the big boys running the eastern snow cross tour. They came to Bass park, Bangor, Maine I looked like a idiot getting lapped during my heats. (saving my body, Saving my shocks) some of my friends heard people saying how that xc600 is junk he needs a new sled. I turned it up in the finals a few clicks. I had that grasshopper on my tail and sent it a little to much ove...

First time out with my 2 year old 99 xcr440sp edge chassis. this was the final. I did some tuning and got faster, I lost my steering when I got bumped. the sled pulled to the right hard. I also had a throttle stick when i went super high in the bank. over all good race.

look at that 800 xcr eat
Put a turbo on that triple and it would show that Khaos what true chaos is!!!😂😂😂😂
It Flys
way to show them up on that old 800 iron brother
Love seeing old iron beat the new stuff your a hell of a driver tho sorry she broke 😢
Big block 600 and liquid cooled brakes👌rode one one for years then i hit a deer at 65 thinking about putting it back together this year took forever to get the the one year hood
Slp twins and there clutch kit it was a fun machine
I love the videos! Keep them coming!
Tbh.. they are lucky you don't have a 98 xc 700 😂
P.s. putting your tac sideways throws it off
I loved my 98 xc 600...i still have a 99 600 xc
Thank you, you're a very good rider and thank you for sharing this awesome video.
Hey, thanks. Much more on my channel
I see the speedo doesn’t work in the XCR 800? Clutch side driveshaft take a shit, and break the speedo key?
Ya I had a keyway broke in there for a season. I have my go pro telemetry to reference speed anyway. Can't be letting people see my mph anyway. Lol😂
I knew both weren’t stock. Edge/Gen2 ran same bars and master/switches right. The 440 racers from the 98 red rocket until the end of the prox ran a cat style wildwood and even straighter bars. Going from 25 year old memory’s. I ran a cat wildwood on an Ultra for 6k miles. And CR80 expert handle bars. Gave you 2” of rise and almost straight without a block and allow you to angle towards hood and still close it.
You are right on the money with what you speak. The cr80 bars I might look into.
@@PolarisRacer make sure they are CR80 EXPERT. Think they made the expert from 1997-2005. It was the big wheel 80cc bike. Normal CR80 bars are a few inches narrower for 9-12 year old kids that aren’t built like an NBA/NFL player. The expert was the BIG boy bike.
Thanks again. @@joshmcdevitt190
What did it take to put the Hayes/gen2 master and switch block in the sled? What are you running for bars. Sure don’t look like the stock boomerang wedge bars
Hey, thanks for watching. The master cylinder off a edge screws right on. Good eye on bars. They are edge bars.
I love this channel so miss Maine,…. What I’d give to get on a snowmobile again
Thanks it ain't much of a channel. But what I got is good.
Man thats incredible beating new sleds on a old triple 800 crazy. Congratulations great riding.
Thanks man. The Ole xcr too A slapping. I could of done it better on a twin buy it wouldn't of been as cool. I got all the loose rivits changed out finaly after that slapping.
Didn’t my brother beat you on this mountain why no vids of him coming in 1st
I know him. We are cool. You would of had to of been there riding the left and right lane. I lost rock paper scissors for lane choice before I lost the race to him. I posted this video to show old iron can Still hang with new stuff. He's fast. I'm fast and I'm sure your fast. Let's keep racing positive.
I also lost more races that day then just him. I'm human. I make mistakes.
Awesome!! The 800 XCR was pretty much cleaning them all hands down👊🏻 I have a couple old Triples still, 2003 XCR 800 and a 1997 Ultra SP 680 had them both since new. My XCR 800 will beat my 2020 XC 850, XC is stock my XCR has some mods. That XC 600 race was impressive! 👍
Awesome...tho Im a cat rider..love the low center of gravity of old sleds...braaaaap...
The baddest most awesome sled Polaris ever made. Just raw power and sound to back it up! Best era, all the triple triples are awesome.
I like your words! Nothing spoke truer
Xcr with a drivermod is gonna fast asf
Hell yeah, love seeing the old iron out there! Good driving, keep on making the new sled owners feel bad, haha.
In a race like this, the driver makes a bigger difference than the sled.
I've never been passed in the ditch riding my 800 xcr. On a cold day when it can grip and running lean...it takes a lot of effort just to hold on to that machine. Rebuilt mine at 6,000 miles and the cylinder walls looked brand new with that nikasil coating. It had too much power for the mouter mounts and ripped the frame apart. I had to add an aftermarket one.
Awesome vid. What kinda track are you running?
I bet most of those newer sleds had much longer tracks. If so, they corner like crap on tight relatively smooth terrain. However if there was more snow and large bumps they come into their own.
Well done.
you have to add a lot of stuff to a 4 stroke to make up for the extra weight when comparing to a 2 stroke
Ya those turbo kits add tons of weight.
Even a 600 would beat the khaos on that track because the khaos is more of a mountain sled and it's not really set up for this type of racing, that's why the new race sled like the xcr come with only a 128" track because the 136 and 144 are not supposed to be out of the gate turning monsters. You are also a really good driver and you would be able to beat a lot of sleds just with your driving skills.
Hey. Thanks for the response. Everything you speak is true. My 98 xc600 twin would of done its job better then the triple. It wouldn't of been as cool. Couple of my old sled friends said "I bet your gonna feel that extra 30lbs up front at the end of the day" They were some right. 75 or so runs up that mountain wide open with no time to relax took a toll on things. Hill cross is demanding.
Looks like so much fun
With a 2000 Indy 700 xc you'd have won that race.
Hey. You are right. I was lacking 10hp on the new 600s. Lacking 20 against that 800 in the 600 class I battled for so long.
from watching this i can see how using the snowdust you throw can be a strategy to keep people from passing you alot of the time lol i came here not exspecting to watch the whole thing but ended up watching it all. nice riding. i have a 1999 xc 700 that looks alot like ur 600 there and its kind of a rocketship and beats alot of newer and bigger sleds for some reason. and i only paid 1500 bucks for it and have rode it 2 years now so cant really complain lol
Bro watching your ride again. Unbelievable just Fuckin absolutely SAVAGE! Love to put you on my Sidewinder n she has a little bit of a hot tune in her. You’d be lapping and lapping and lapping some more bro
I couldnt imagine being on a brand new $20,000 sled and getting my ass beat by a 35 year old sled with a taped up seat.... mostly because I too, am the kinda guy on the 35 year old sled with a taped up seat 😅
So you know know wherein coming from then. I'm down 15hp from everyone else too.
Bring the boost port up above transfers !
Love watching you get after em…👍
Thanks. Snow is not far from us. We will see if the conditions are right this year to over take a grasshopper. If there were 4 feet moguls I would be night and day diffrence.
Legend in my book. Very humbling to watch, great job honestly 🎉
Thanks for the kind words man. I gave it my all. The other races too. Tons of wrenching, alittle money and alot of effort.
18 min mark that modern day 600 beat you to the finish line there and you were WOT ina straight race they have you but im suprised your ahead of the pack mostly it goes to show that modern day light technology twin has you on the top end tho!
Fun fact is that black and grey xcr was a 800 I was battling with. He was in the wrong class. I had to work for it. But ya the xcr600 cfi engine has 20 more hp then a liberty. I can just get on the gas quicker. Until there are 4 foot moguls.
@@PolarisRacer fun man! Id race you with my adventure 650, 137! Along with my cfi 600, 136.
Nice job of OUT driving them
What have you done to it? Or is it just stock
Hey, it's all stock just rebuilt everything. New clutches are the biggest thing.
@polaris racer nice, it rips! I just picked up a 92 500 special for 500 bucks, threw a new chain case in it and going to complete the build today. I am excited to try it
@NTSLEDDERS I like hearing that story.
I like seeing the old smaller fuji engines getting love. I have 2 500s a 1992 440 and a heavily modded 1988 400 classic for the lake
Just goes to show how skill can overcome bigger at times. Smooth is fast!
Thanks. You can say that again. Smooth is fast.
Deff Not the Strong Suite of the XCR. It was never a big bump sled. It was and is an all rocket past the 1 mile mark.. Here in Canada. You Can drive it at 115 for miles and Not worry about the motor roasting itself.
I agree. Long live the fuji. I have another video on the lake holding her for a few mins. My friend hit 140 with his 02 xcr800 mod this year on a lake.
I miss cornering on these babies!
Why did ya stop?
@@PolarisRacer well. Mostly because I missed the trails and then I got old lol
Straight weapon, there is NO doubt xcr is and will always be legendary. Great riding Matt
Thanks man. Xcr800s are awsome for sure.
That thing is a weapon, out there hurting feelings. Love the xcr line i bet alot of people are and will be scratching their heads looking at these vids. I have a feeling i know what you have done atleast one thing to put that thing at the level. Doing great work man, its good to see you oit there putting polaris out front.
Thanks. Ya the xcr made some small talk first sure.
Such fun and impressive by anyone's standards.
Thanks I try. Low and fast in the corners is where it's at.
@@PolarisRacerbingo
love the old girl miss my 98 xc nice riding tail grabbing that new stuff had me on the edge of my chair
Yup. Me too. Turning and gabbing throttle while sitting on couch.
nice to see this, i just purchased a 2000 XCR 800, from the original owner. (60 year old) it was very well kept and looks new. i have not yet run it with others, as it is in need of a clutch rebuild . i have a 600 xlt, and a 700 xcxp im using. all my SKI-DOO friends laugh, and say it wont come close to their $ 23,000. 900"s and 1200's. and shouldnt have wasted my $$ , well see!
Ohh your gonna love it
@@PolarisRacer i am excited!
that your sister on the sidewinder?
Absolutely love it! I myself own xcr triple. Way to go!!
The best video I have watched . Old 600 polaris still rips
Thanks man. Check my channel for more!
Yes for sure. I ran a cross country once in 78. No where's the distance you drove but my buddy and I won it. Even after he fell off his sled and took the lanyard with him lol. I took my turn and got them in the corners. Had enough lead on them that when Wayne's turn came back around he took the honors home. Oh 340 L "P" too. First trailing arm one too. I had a 77 340 L. Classic look still today.
