    I was fasting until late morning, but recently switched my eating window to start earlier morning & stop by 5ish. I've seen an improvement in sleep as a result.

    Hi Whitney! Do you do this during pregnancy/breastfeeding too or do you eat a bedtime snack?

    Thanks for your very well put together video. One question: In your video with Prof Walter Longo he said its best to eat twice a day with a limted time restricted feeding window of about 12 hours - with lower mortality for longer periods (around the 32 min period of that video). Could you please comment. Thanks

      Professor Longo advocates a 12 hour window because some research has shown that longer bouts of daily fasting may increase the risk of kidney and gallstones. There is no research about skipping lunch specifically. I believe he bases that practice on the bulk of research about fasting in general. We don't know a lot of specifics about fasting regimens but we know that fasting is any form is likely beneficial. Therefore, Dr. Longo chooses to work in two fasts per day. My personal experience is that this is not very realistic for most people. I think if someone can commit to one nightly fast, that's a great goal to strive for.

    It would be interesting for swing shifters. My husband work 2 wks 7am -3pm and 2 wks 3pm - 11pm. Since his circadian rhythm is constantly interrupted

    Question about refeeding heart attack risk when starting again to eat after 5 days of fasting

    • @WhitneyERDN
      @WhitneyERDN  4 года назад +1

      The risk of refeeding syndrome is low with this short of a period of time without food in healthy, otherwise normally-fed adults.

    Please can you make a video about the best diet for emphysema. Specifically for someone slightly larger with the firm of emphysema that is a non mucus forming version. Would fasting activate stem cells to help heal the lungs? What foods cause more CO2 and O2 demand etc

      I don’t know of any fasting research that has looked at emphysema, unfortunately. I would talk to your diet about whether or not fasting is appropriate given your condition.

      Thank you Giselle! Seasonings greetings to you and yours! Melatonin is supposed to decrease in the morning but perhaps yours is still elevated when you wake up. Are you getting sunlight when you wake up?
