try adjusting the focus, try different materials (plywood, leather). the blue laser wont work on certain materials like bright-white paper or acrylic glass.

i bought one from gearbest on the 5th well im still waiting for it to come in the mail, they say "its shipped" but the shipping company says they have not gotten it, after talking to them they pretty much just keep saying "it will take a couple days for an update on shipping status" here it is 10 days late lol that place seems like a joke

Quality control on these seems to be questionable. I got one from gearbest.com, and it just shuts down for no reason after about 4 minutes of use. This is not long enough to do much of anything. Customer support a gearbest is the worst. Don't expect much from them if you have a problem! I hope your unit works better than mine!
