This song was written for Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone who overdosed in 1990. Same person "Would" by Alice in Chains and "Say hello to Heaven" by Temple Of The Dog were written for. Thank you for reacting to it. Very very good band.
Most of the songs on Temple of the Dog was about Andy. Which was the beginning of Pearl Jam. My favorite (after I learned what it was about) is All Night Thing. About Andy hookin up while in detox and the girl pressured him so to speak into doin heroin one last time. On the night of his over dose. "Turning into An All Night Thing". One of My other #1's from the grunge scene is Far Behind from Candlebox with the original lyrics "Andy I didn't mean to treat you bad..."
I'm feeling a bit this way right now. I'm a hospice nurse, on a hot covid unit, haven't been with kids, grandkids or mom since May. I'm struggling.... I'm normally an introvert... But now I'm just lost. I want to be with my kids, my grandkids, my mom. Please stay safe everyone. I love you even if you don't feel this. I'm on quarantine and NEED THIS. Never felt this absolute pain of emptiness without my family, now that I'm on quarantine in a sterile room with no one.
Sometimes it's clear that certain words are true without feeling; That's kind of you and I hope that things are doing ok for your situation and that you get to spend time with your family and whatever else you desire. Thanks for the kind words.
This whole album is amazing, one of my favorite complete albums ever. Another great track is Cover Me, and even Blossom is full of emotion. Definitely worth checking out!
as others have said it is about his one of his best friends andy wood the lead singer of mother love bone. all the "now maybe" in the song were written as "now andy" but were changed for the recording. side note, one of my favorite songs ever!
This song always makes me think of my little brother! He was going through so much hurt and pain but, didn't know how to tell anyone. He started using to try and cope but ultimately his coping method took his life at 22. You will never know what someone else is going through unless you ask!!!
This song came out around the same time a friend of mine died right after we graduated high school together. It got me for many years every time I heard it. RiP Julie.
Written for a friend that ODed. I’ve heard two different meanings of this song - one that it’s one friend that has an addiction and the love that’s lost between them and then I’ve also heard it’s written from the perspective of the drug - when he says I didn’t mean to treat you bad but I did it anyways 🤷🏻♀️
After my cousin died from alcohol abuse... due to pain inside... this was the song he asked to be played at his slideshow... you never know who is true to you, nor who will be real when the time comes..
One of three songs written to honor the memory of Andrew Wood; "Say Hello 2 Heaven" by Temple of the Dog and "Would?" by Alice in Chains are the others.
This song... cuts me like a knife. Rest in peace to my dad, who had 2 weeks till his parole release and died in prison, he might've left me far behind but I still love him so.
BillyYouSo....Emotional --. You ARE helping others. You help me,every time I watch. You allow me to step out of my world and out of my own head for awhile. That is a very valuable service to me. I am going through a rough time right now and I need the mental escapes and it helps to watch your reactions and to get into the music. Thank you for making these.
There was a girl I should have been there for in HS that fell into some bad behavior and died young after I left for the Army never to go back home. I learned of her death only a few years ago and our last parting was not a good one because I thought I could show my disgust and give her introspection. Never thought that it would be our last meeting. RIP. Think of her every time with this song and wonder if I could have changed her life for the better if I would have just dated her as we both wanted, and just ended my other relationship, but I wanted to stay loyal to my girlfriend, which was hogwash if my heart was somewhere else. I was 15 and just learning.
These guys were great! I'd recommend "You", and "Sometimes". The latter has incredible lyrics, and a solo that perfectly matches the emotion of the song. "10,000 Horses is also a good one. All are available on their official channel.
Summer of 1994 I loved this song. "You" was the previous hit and a soundtrack to my senior year of high school. Green Day, Smashing pumkins, Nirvana, Pearl jam, and Live. Good memories.
So its about Andrew Wood of another Seattle grunge rock band.He od from heroin and this singer and others were frustrated and angry due to his not becoming sober and pushing them away-the old refrain of any addict,or most
Hey man, first time watching you. I just became a fan. This song about drug addiction and the singer's best friend was the lead singer for a band called mother lovebone , Andrew wood was the lead singer and he died right before the release of their debut album. in the Seattle scene of the 90s. Drugs and music rules the day and we lost a lot of people good people to overdose. Heroin mostly. Andrew woods roommate was chris Cornell , lead singer of Soundgarden. Chris asked the surviving band members of Mother lovebone if they would like to record a couple of songs that he had written for Andrew. They agreed. Chris also recruited Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vetter to duet with him and that collaboration became Temple of the dog. The song- Going Hungry- was a huge hit . You should react to that as a follow up to this. Chris Cornell died from suicide, Andrew wood died from heroin OD, Alice in chains front man Layne Staley died from overdose, kurt cobain suicide , the list goes on and on. I survived the grunge scene with a heart full of pain and loss. Please react to Hunger Strike by temple of the dog. Your friend, Fuzzy.
it amazes me how many people dont know the truth behind this song... he ACTUALLY wrote this song for his little brother that overdosed on drugs and he felt bad that he wasnt always nice to his brother and how he wishes his little brother had reached out and told him the problems he was going thru... he felt so bad about not communicating with his little brother as much as he should have, that he could have helped him
One of my all time fave songs. I always blast it when it comes pin. I had a very close friend od and pass so it does hold a special place also. When you know the story behind the song the song makes so much sense. You should check out more of their music.
I also love “you”, “simple lessons”, “changes”, “cover me” and “he calls home” by this band. People call this band a pale comparison to the grunge bands or a wannabe band, but I love LOVE them. I think that they were much deeper than people give them credit for.
That really cuts deep in my heart... Very nice song. Didn't see it coming as well. Been your silent subscriber for a year already and I really enjoy your reactions. It's like my stress reliever after a very shitty day at work so to speak. Please do react to "Piece by Piece" by Kelly Clarkson, her performance on American Idol. It's a song based from her experience. All the best bro.
Song is about Andy Wood, lead singer of Mother Love Bone, died either 1989 or 1990. (Before their debut album, KILLER album btw) Chris Cornell did a song with Temple of the Dog called Say Hello 2 Heaven about Andy too. Also, Alice In Chains “Them Bones” is also about Andy Wood. RIP to Andy, Layne, and Chris..

I'm sorry, but come on! I've been begging for months for BabyMetal, a current band topping 100 million views on some videos, 20 million on most, first Japanese act in over 50 years to chart in the US, dropped a new album LAST WEEK, and you're reacting to a one hit wonder from 25 years ago. BabyMetal, Road of Resistance, Live in Japan.
Such an amazing song from a very underrated band.
Very underrated
I always thought the most underated band of the 90s
Agreed

Please react to "You" by Candlebox..great song!
You is basically a song about telling the drug dealers and his addicted friends to stay away from him.
Diane Malone you and cover me are my favs. And simple lessons from a different album.
and "Blossom" and "Rain"
Vexatious is a great song as well
It sounds weird but I love this song and it helped me through my sister's suicide! Thanks for reacting to it!

The whole album
The entire album, but Blossom has really grown on me
Finally someone reacting to this awesome band.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG and I'm certainly glad to see your reacting to it.
It's a really good song.
Somebody said this was written from the drug's perspective. Like Master of Puppets. I think it was Glitch in the Matrix.
It’s about Andrew wood
Such a underrated band this band deserves more reaction and love
LOVE this throwback song!! Every time I hear it on the radio I almost bust my speakers! ❤️👏🏼
One of three songs written to honor the memory of Andrew Wood; "Say Hello 2 Heaven" by Temple of the Dog and "Would?" by Alice in Chains are the others.
Billy you have the most radiating smile I love that you are so diverse in your videos
This song... cuts me like a knife. Rest in peace to my dad, who had 2 weeks till his parole release and died in prison, he might've left me far behind but I still love him so.
90s music...this brings back memories. I love this song. Thank you. 😢
My senior high school year. Crazy times to hear this back then.
One of the saddest songs ever written
I Love Candlebox ❤

Meeting them in October here in Orlando with Candlebox Bush and SHINEDOWN!
Such an accurate take. I checked on my strong friend the other day and we've been talking for weeks daily because he wasn't okay
Maverick was owned by Madonna who screwed Candlebox royally and left them Far Behind
My all time favorite band.
YAAAAAAAS!!!!! LOVE THIS FREAKIN SONG

Man you hit it right on the head! Gotta check up on your strong friends, you never know what's going on but that little bit means the world
I saw them again last summer, still sound as great! Too many great songs to list! Kevin Martin was so young to write lyrics of this depth.

Temporary Rare I knew that Would? was about Andy Wood, but I hadn’t heard that Them Bones was as well.
Nate Prouty might’ve got that reversed, that’s on me. I couldn’t remember if it were Would? or Them Bones.
Am I too lost to be saved Lord
Everyday I fall upon the sword
Hoping today will be my last
Like everyday I remember from the past
No more of this pain can I take
I've tried to rid myself but it's pain I can't shake
The dreams of night
Cause me to wake in a fright
For life without pain is a dream
I'm so tired now of a Life filled with screams
Everyday I pray to be saved
Every night I find my hope as Caved
Yet every day I try my best
Yet every night I find that failed the test
For so long my mind has cried
See everything inside me now has died
No longer do I have hope
Everyday I find it harder and harder to cope
The voices soon will remind me of my flaws
As the demon within start to claw
You see I struggle everyday
Just trying to find a way
For the pain feeds on my fear
Causing my eyes to tear
My mind you see needs a break
Before my sanity this pain does take
No longer do I look others in the eye
I don't want them to see all the tears I've cried
Everyday for me is tough
Yet I battle on still not having enough
Someday I may give in
Committing the ultimate sin
Bu for today the tears may fall
I'm not ready yet for God's final call
