We just showed our friends this for the Titan bit, and they were crying with laughter too 😂😂
Haha awww thanks glad you enjoy our silly humour...sorry the Titan is not a laughing matter, look forward to catching you guys for a few drinks on the cut 😀
I’m slowly watching my way to present day!
I hope to see y’all playing your guitars and singing around the locks and canals!
Oh amazing Shoan tha ks so much for the support, yes the plan has always been to bring a bit more guitar into the episodes, hopefully a few pub gigs to 😀
Try a couple of rubber mats on the floor of the gas locker. It will stop the gas bottles scraping all your nice new paint off and the floor rusting again
Thanks we do have an old rubber mate that was in there though could probably do with a new one, it seams to be one off the places people forget about, thanks again :)
Pva water proof glue mixed with fine saw dust is great filler and flexible
Oh cool , I'll have to do a bit of research into it, there seams to be a few methods, I believe one of the main things is flexibility, cheers
We've been binge watching your vlogs for the last few days. You are both brilliant - your positivity in the face of a massive challenge is awesome. Keep going! 😍
Thanks so much, sorry about the early cringe episodes but we feel its nice for people to be able to look back at how we started, thanks so much for your support :)
Becca, Chris, Another great Vlog this week. Becca, you did amazing creating a new window sill for the duck hatch doors. You have a natural talent working with wood. Chris you have excelled this week in your sanding skills and duck hatch doors. What an amazing duo you both are. Loved the Vlog, which is always so well presented and edited. Have a great week. Take Care.
She really has, she never fails to perform, I'm slowly starting to tame a leaf our of her book, I need to catch up haha thanks for enjoying our style of vlogs we really appreciate the support
If’n yer going to paint it all Chris you can cover the seams with vertical “batts” (thin strips of wood) adding dummy batts equidistant between them. It’ll give a nice effect painted and fix the problem of filling in the seams. Be sure to caulk all the batt seams before painting ‘n Bob will undoubtably become part of your genetic tree…. Your enthusiasm, determination and tireless positivity are truly inspirational, even though I suspect that behind the scenes you have your “moments!” Crack on you heroic aquatic Crobots! Victory shall be yours!
I keep hearing of this caulking.. it seams to be the way to go, Becca actually came up with an idea quite similar of having kinda frame to hide the slits, thanks so much...were just been felt a bit of a crappy card and are trying to have as much fun with it as possible, we definitely do have our moments, but will get there in the end and the boat will be far better, thanks so much for your lovely comment and sticking with us :)
Yes! Monday is Crobot day😁 and get you with your easy use of the power tool. Flexible wood filler is your friend for the walls and who cares about the line in the gas locker? It's a gas locker! As long as it passes its test, it'll be fine. Well done to Becca for renewing the cills in the hatches. Great show of skills. 👍
Yes we're trying to at least make monday a crobot day but are hoping to up it in the next weeks,no ones going to see the gas locker haha maybe next time i should try frog tape, thanks yes a flexible wood filler seams the way to go ,were getting there...slowly haha 🐌
Decorators caulk could work in the holes and gaps in the walls,I’m not sure but I think you can get waterproof caulk 👍🏻
Brilliant thanks our favourite neighbour, this method seams like a really great idea, watch this space , what can go wrong haha
You two must ha e patients of a saint. I’m amazed at all you have tackled and you keep doing it. Be proud of what you both are achieving. Take care.
Thank you, it kinda feels normal know haha...weve forgotten what narrowboat life was meant to be like, at least we can use our new found skills for when things g wrong in the future ,take care :)
Ahhh Becca hope your proud of your man ! You’ve taught him well and he can now even be left alone with a sander ! Amazing ! Still a fair bit to do but when you think about what you have done already your getting there. Titan and marigolds in one vlog ! What’s the world coming to!? Can’t wait for your next instalment ! Have a great week x
She has trained me well, slowly I'm turning into the greatest sanding expert ever.haha yes there is quite a bit to do but we look back sometimes at how far we have come too, hopefully not too long now, a d we have a fun cruise finally coming up to, thanks again 😀
@@TheNomadicCrobot my pleasure :)
Grab some wood glue and saw dust to fill the holes ( Mix Together) . maybe the gaps might be a bit big thou to fill , See how you go. Happy River Boating.
oh brilliant thanks so much :)
I’m knackered after all that! Great bum, foot sanding technique 😂. Damn those poppers 🙄, why is there always something more to be sorted when we think we are getting there!?
thank you. The new foot and bum technique really helps get the harder bits off haha, exactly, o e thing after another 😄
That cheap masking tape always leaks paint, use frog tape, much better and peals much easier. The boat is getting better each time we see it, keep up the good (hard) work.....
Thanks for your patience, we actually have frog tape too, we live and learn
The gas locker looks great and as you say, no one’s going to see inside it much. You’ve done a good job! It’s all coming on so well. Keep up the good work! X
Thank you, it's hidden away luckily, the main thing is it passes, 😉
Hi Guys....think the rear cover might need a bit of support to stop the rain pooling up, broom handle maybe? keep up the good work😀
Yes we did wonder how we would solve that problem. Many thanks , so same yet so effective 😊
You two continue to amaze me, amidst all that chaos you seem to stay relatively calm and you stick the plan. I hope you get things done in time to get on the canals and at least enjoy some of the warm weather cruising. Stay well guys
Thanks for your lovely comment, we try and enjoy the chaos as much as we can, I think we're just happy to be part of the lovely community so embarrassing the opportunity, we can't wait to start our proper travels soon, take care 😀
Even as I sit here on a beach in Antigua - I envy your looming boat life! Bex your woodworking skills are utterly amazeballs!!!
Awww thanks that's nice, Antigua sounds amazing, Becca is truly amazing at throwing her self into jibs, and I'm slowly learning myself too, thanks again 😀
Doing a fantastic job. Well done guys.
Thanks Will 😊
Practice makes perfect. Great.
Exactly, hopefully slowly but surly haha
Hi, the boat is coming along. Chris I barely recognize you, you have become very comfortable and confident working with power tools.🎉 Wishing you safe travels.
Thank you, I'm getting a hit cocky with the sander now haha baby steps, thanks we can't wait to take her out again finally
Pollyfilla for holes maybe ? You did great job at the end, consider becoming a painter 😃
Oh cool ill have a read up on it, it needs to be flexible because I don't want it cracking, it's all trial a error haha 😆
@@TheNomadicCrobot - I think you'll find Polyfilla is too rigid.
Very nice progress. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and enjoying 😃
I just love you two!
Your so sweet 😋 look forward to sharing a few drinks one day 😀
Caulking might work as a flexible filler. Can also be painted over. Gas locker is fine as the job was to get rid of the rust so job done there.
Yeah we keep hearing of caulking, maybe if it's flexible? Thanks so much for your advice
@@TheNomadicCrobot generally comes in a tube for use with the tube gun and its used to fill things such as cracks between skirting boards and walls and is semi flexible and can be over painted. Can come in various colours also. Decorators dream.
A flexible filler like no more gaps if you are painting it ought to do.
Yes a flexible filler would seam like the best bet, many thanks for your advice
Use Mum's trusted wood filler, which is also free!
Owww wow thanks that sounds like an amazing idea mama crobot 😃 xxx
😂👌🏻
Oh none of Becs loo. You’re both doing such a brilliant job with lots of laughs along the way. The hatches are going to look great. Bet you’re looking forward to your trip if for no other reason than a change of scenery. Another great vlog, thanks guys take care and have a great week. 💕
I know, but your in for a treat as bex has been working on the loo on route this week, we could start calling these vlogs " beccas toilet tour on the ouse" haha, thank you it's been so much fun to actually get out even if the boat is a mess, it's a little taste of the beauty to come
@@TheNomadicCrobot. OK it’s now “Beccas toilet tour on the Ouse”, she’s a bloody legend that girl but putting the rest of us to shame, she’s sure got you right up to speed to Chris, you’re doing such a great job. We’re looking at a houseboat out here in Oz (though we wanted a narrowboat but Covid stopped that) when you finish there if you want more practice. LOL. Keep up the great vlogs, far better than anything that’s on telly. 💕
@@paulinehiggins8239 oh amazing good luck on your houseboat adventure, there amazing, Just everything about it, becca puts me seriously to shame but I'm learning to catch up haha, tha ks for your lovely comment and support, it really makes it all worth it 😃
i use flexible frame sealant and its over paintable it fills cracks and allows the timber to expand and contract
That sounds brilliant, yes I think we need something that is flexible so when we bump her it won't shatter into a thousand pieces haha
Hi guys, the boat is really starting to come along. The gas locker looks so much better with the Jotun. You should consider painting the whole thing.
Hi thank you, yes I would like to do it at some point, for know at least it will pass, I'm not cutting corners...honest haha
Get yourself a palm sander and the filler you used to fill the gaps is called 2Pac
Brilliant thank you
for the wall how about pvc flooring tiles?
Owww maybe, I'm just a bit worried it might look like a kitchen floor
Cover bellow panels with locking laminate flooring - lay it like brick work - no painting required
Oh brilliant. I never thought of that, thanks for your suggestion I don't have a clue haha
Try ronseal flexible wood filler. Love love watching the vlogs so funny and entertaining keep up the hard work
Oh brilliant, thanks so much for the suggestion, yes flexible is definitely what we are after, thanks for your lovely words 😀
Gggg’s guys getting to Foxes Narrowboat marina is a right pain from st Neots then. I lived on a 70’ on the Nene near the Dogn doublet lock and would often go over to March on the middle level. Good luck on your cruise. I take it you have to go through salters load lock as well after coming through Denver. Good luck.👍🏼
Yes it's a proper little trek , butceere going to treat it like a little holiday , we couldnt fi d any marinas closer able to black with alot if boomings going i to 2023/2024,we will be passing through salters load again this time supposedly the harder way, though last time thngs wants really smoothly
@@TheNomadicCrobot just a word of advice when coming through Denva lock and then turning to go into salters load lock I used to make the turn after the entrance of salters load lock so the boat would be facing upstream towards Denver lock then turn right into salters load lock. The reason for this was I found the current coming towards you slowed the boat as you turned into salters load lock instead of potentially pushing you into the wall with the current if you just turned strait into salters load lock. I didn’t have bow thrusters and it was a 70’ trad single handed boater. 👍🏼 good luck.
Leave the gas locker Chris, nobody is worried about wavy lines, especially when it's closed-up 98% of the time.
Thanks Terry I feel a little less guilty now 😅
Hi you are doing a great job but you should you hard wood on the window sills otherwise it might not last moor than a year .....
Becca was just saying that recently actually, thank you, watch this space
Soon your finished with all surface trimming. I'm a little bit worried about that. Thank U
At least wood can't rust haha yay
looking good bro! how many tools have you lost in the river?
Haha none yet, I'm very protective of my de walts... the new 360 cam is awesome cantbwait to start editing it in ,nice one boy
@@TheNomadicCrobot yeah man the 360 cams are epic!! Be handy when you can edit them! 🤣😂
Looking good guys 😎 you could use Ronseal flexible wood filler @ screw fix £6.99 ps you are becoming at one with the tools now chris like a young Jedi 🙏
Keep going
Mark, tray Jasper 🐶# wide beam Aquarius
Brilliant thanks so much for the advice, with had so many suggestions , all very useful, I know this new DIY side of me is starting to show early signs of a jedi in the making hahaa
How would I solve the problem of the area below the gunwales? I would buy a bunch of tongue and groove, cut all the pieces to length, prime them both sides, then install as vertical t & g. Painted teal, that would look super--and super easy too.
Oh cool, that's sounds interesting. Thanks for your suggestion, we have been absolutely spoilt with ideas, noones suggested a tongue and groove feel, it's a cracking idea
Wood putty or super glue mixed with the sawdust lol for the holes.Ps you just can do the floor of gas locker 😂do the whole bloody thing 😂
I think we will do the sides at a later stage, we just wanted to do it before it's safely, sorry cutting corners again haha
🤗
Use wood filler to fill gaps.
Thank you
Hiya.
Did I see in one of your vids that you bought a hull thickness testing machine? If so could you let me know where from please.
thanks for your comment, we just got a cheapish one on amazon, around £90, easy to use and set up, very handy type 'DecentGadget® Ultrasonic Thickness Meter Tester Gauge Measure' into there search, hope it helps, have fun :)
@@TheNomadicCrobot Thanks. We've just ordered one.
Looks like a wee bit of rust under that hatch cill. Better get on it..
At this point we are expert rust extractors ...haha, bring it on
Wood putty
Thank you 😊
Did you discuss in earlier vlogs how much you paid for the boat?
ruclips.net/video/Y339_P2NZaw/видео.html hope this helps 🙂
@@TheNomadicCrobot asking price nearly £40,000 thanks - love your channel btw
WOODFILLER ,!
Thank you 😊
👍👌❤🇨🇦
What about rubber wood?
I've never heard of that ( surprising) but will take a look many thanks for your suggestion 👍
Sorry, it’s actually by DAP and it’s called Plastic Wood in the US.
Biggie Smalls wood filler
Awesome thank you
Tupac wood filler
Thank you
Wood filler!
As easy as that?? Awesome thank u 🙏
Why don’t you start and finish one job and clean up as you go.
I'd like to but alot of the time we need to wait for things to dry in which time we start a new job, also because we're heading for blacking we needed to fit the toilet in quickly too ..sorry it all gets a bit messy
We’d like to log a formal complaint please. How dare you kick the king at 12:03 😤
After everything he’s done ❤️🩹
Haha I apologise now, its like Lord of the rings... you feel your in control of the monster until it has its wicked way, must try harder
@@TheNomadicCrobot We saw one on someone else's boat the other day and I had to hold Wes back!! They hold great power
'Becks is quite crafty at wood working. 🪚 🪵
She constantly surprises me, amazing work she great isn't she
