  • Any watch fan should enjoy this walk through of many things Breitling and then TAG Heuer. I'll cover their design aesthetic, talk about why their so expensive, mention the xlnt clones that are made, and tell you which are my fave models. I'll also show a lot of their ugly models and express shock at how people would buy them. This is video is meant for non TNP audiences too.

Since we are talking expensive, have you ever seen how the grand seiko spring drive movement works. I kinda like its simple look as well.

I have a 2007 Tag Link Chrono. It was about 3500 new at the time. It's indestructible. Best watch I've ever owned. It needs a service but runs perfectly. Swiss movement. I'd sell it if I got the right price. I have the original box and paperwork. I can't recommend it more sir.

I still have my late 90s graduation gift Tag Heuer. Still runs like a Swiss watch. Almost bought another one last year, but went with Tudor in stead. Sketchy guys wear Breitlings.

Incredible watches but not at that price. Yikes. Guess I'm poor by watch standards. Casio Gshock will work for me. Maybe some day.

42mm case is probably about as big as I would go for me personally. I wear a 41mm Marathon GSAR on my 7" wrist and that is pushing it size while for me.

You turned me onto invictas and I have 5 of them now, have been considering moving up to luminox, Tag and eventually Breitling.

I was a Seiko Divers dude for most of my adult life. My SKX007 has been around the world with me, deployed many times and still ticking.... loses few mins a week now, needs service now that cost way more than a new movement.... I know you're not a fan but different strokes and all that. Few years ago I looked at and bought a Glycine Combat Sub on your review. Thx for that. Really like it and wear it regularly. Last year I bought a Tudor GMT. Even gray mkt it was a fair amount of money to me but sometimes you just have to get what you want if it's within your means to do so. I considered Breitling and TAG but there was a considerable quality difference IMO. Alot of guys wearing those 38mm pieces because they Tom Cruise sized... I get it, not everyone is 6+ft and has arms like the Hulkster, so smaller sized options are good for them. 40-42mm is what I feel fits me best at 6ft 220lbs.... I could never pull off that Glycine 46mm.

Just buy a San Martin. San Martin is the Holosun of watches. Same quality and look of their much more expensive Swiss counterparts for a fraction of the price.
I own a few pieces from Tudor, Omega to TAG. Highly recommend San Martin and it will absolutely scratch the Swiss/automatic itch. Even if you eventually buy a Rolex you’ll be blown away at how close the quality is to the San Martin.

$3-4k is pretty low price point as far a watches go, i dont know if id call it entry level but its the next step up from entry level. You can get a lot of good watches in that range. Breitling, Tudor, Longines, there are a few entry Grand Seikos in that price. Tag just doesn't do it for me. I think they're over priced for what they are. The closer to $1000 is probably their real value, up to $2000+, they're just not worth that much.
A great microbrand closer to the $1000 price point is Nivada Grenchen. They have an amazing heritage, US Military heritage and are probably nicer quality than the price point. If there movements were better they could definite command a much higher price.

Love the watch show. Not a big Breitling fan. Just picked up a Doxa Sub 300t recently. They have a killer orange. The Seiko King Turtles are pretty sweet as well with upgrades. Do you like your Islander watch?

Two things. New video idea this instead of that (ie pagani) . Second case size is not as important to me as thickness. Thicker the watch the more stuff you bang into.

Chrono24 is a good place as well. I like Breitling watches. Rolex are way overpriced. Omega are expensive but fairly priced in my opinion. Not a fan of Tag. Love the old Heuer watches.

I’m getting a TAG Heuer Gulf Steve McQueen Monaco…before I die. It’s iconic.
Of course you probably don’t know who Steve McQueen is. You’re a “cheap” watch connoisseur which is fine, but there’s a reason some guys want a nice watch. If there wasn’t a market they wouldn’t be making them.

The price of those watches is well, offensive. What makes those watches worth the price? Do they keep time better than a $15 watch? I doubt it.
