- In this video, the multivibrator and types of multivibrators (Astable, Monostable and Bistable Multivibrator) are explained briefly.
By watching this video, you will learn the following things:
0:29 What is Multivibrator?
1:12 Astable Multivibrator
1:40 Monostable Multivibrator
3:07 Bistable Multivibrator
What is Multivibrator:
The multivibrator is the electronic circuit which is used to implement two-state devices like oscillator, timer, and Flip-Flop.
Types of Multivibrator:
Depending on the number of stable states, the multivibrators can be divided into 3 types.
1) Astable Multivibrator
2) Monostable Multivibrator
3) Bistable Multivibrator
Astable Multivibrator:
Astable multivibrator does not remain stable in any of the two states. And the output of the multivibrator continuously changes between the two states.
This type of multivibrator is used in the design of a relaxation oscillator.
Monostable Multivibrator:
In monostable multivibrator, there is one stable state and one astable state.
The multivibrator output remains in the stable state but whenever an external trigger signal is applied, the output momentarily goes into the astable state. And after some time it comes back into the stable state. The time required to come back into the stable state depends on the passive components like R and C.
This type of multivibrator is used as a timer in many applications.
Bistable Multivibrator:
This type of multivibrator has two stable states. The output used to be in any one of the two stable states. And whenever an external trigger signal is applied, the output goes from one stable state to another stable state. If no triggering action is applied thereafter, then it remains in the new stable state.
The bistable multivibrator is one kind of flip-flop circuit.
All the three types of multivibrator can be designed using either op-amp, transistor pairs or 555 timer IC.
This video will be helpful to all the students of science and engineering in briefly understanding the different types of multivibrator circuits.

Sir, I'm making a triangle wave generator with relaxation oscillator. As you know, It's inevitable fixing voltage amplitude when I change the frequency in the circuit using relaxation oscillator combined by intgrator. I need to control freq independently of voltage amplitude using relaxation oscillator. Is there anyideas to solve this problem?
Thnk u sir very helpfull

What are inputs for Astable multivibrator? I mean, does it even matter what inputs we give to Astable multivibrator because the output doesn't change.

Thanks. What do you wear? I wear Garagaf NiGe on Thursdays because sometimes I feel like an electric alliance- fitted psychopath full if wires tightened into haunted springs that eighle with microwaves of hatred from my lasers. Paul Beckwith cannot be located for repairs. Can u help,? My friendsx would call me lovely but I can't keep my eyes from setting fire to wires that I pull tight focus on. Thank you. Garagaf NiGe does burn deliciously. I recommend one tonne of it each year for the garden also. Thank you.
Please do tutorials on how to understand databook of analog integrated circuits.
Yes, will make a video on it.
I AM NEVER NOT SO DETERMINED
Can you do videos on monostable and bistable multivibrators using bjt too?
Yes, very soon.
555 timer block diagram has a flipflop.so multivibrator can be build with 555 or multivibrator can be used to build flipflop?but which is the basic block then flipflop is included in making multivibrator or vice versa???
555 timer can be used as bi-stable multivibrator. But flip-flop is very basic block. There are different ways the multivibrator circuit can be designed (like BJT, op-amp, 555 timer).
How do we give trigger?
In one of the videos of multivibrator, I have also shown the circuit for trigger. Typically, the trigger is event based output of some other circuit. But it can also be generated using the hardware circuit or using signal generator.
Lets say nice video 🤣🤣👍🏻🤝
Why the name is 555 timer?, Is there any specific reason?
Because initially when 555 timer was designed, the value of the three internal resistors which is used for voltage divider was 5k.
That's why it is called 555.
Hey guys, a question to the Indian audience here:
I noticed a curious way many Indian teachers structure their sentences.
Here is an example:
"The Multivibrator will stay in THE...
stable state"
The line-break symbolizes where the teacher pauses, and the caps symbolize
where the voice is raised.
I wondered if this is exclusive to teaching, basically to emphasize the noun that
comes after the pause, or if you also speak like this in other situations.
Does somebody know where this originated? Does it stem from how sentences in Hindi are structured?
Would love to receive some insight :)
Heya!
Actually, English isn't our first language as you may already know. That's why people find difficulty in speaking english fluently. So, yeah the pause is to emphasize that particular noun of the sentence.
Also, the formation of sentence isn't related to Hindi. It's exclusive to teaching though it depends person to person.
well it helps the student to concentrated. like when he raised his voice at certain point to bring us back from our imagination of saving the school. it's not necessary in online lectures but that's a habit i guess
Can you suggest some good books in analog electronics

What is the difference between the monostable and bistable crts?
I have already explained it in the separate videos.
You can check the playlist of oscillator and multivibrator for that.
And still, if you have any doubt then do let me know here.
IC 555.
Sir,how these triggering occurs?? Do you mean these are clock pulses!!!
Yes, it's a clock pulse. Or some times (in case of the monostable) it could be an external event which occurs momentarily.
👌👌👌👌
Bistable Multivibrator can't be made using 555 timer Ic
I have a little confusion about stable and unstable state. Plz rply
When we say a stable state, it's the state or the voltage level in which the circuit remains in the steady state condition.
Due to some triggering action, momentarily circuit may go into the unstable state and once again comes back into the stable state.
In astable multivibrators, there is no stable state, means output continuously changes its state between the two unstable states.
In monostable, momentarily it goes into unstable state and comes back into stable state.
While in bistable, both states are stable. That means in steady state condition, depending on the triggering action, the circuit may be in any of the two stable states.
I hope it will clear your doubt.
yee
I am here at lockdown still studying coss I have no idea they will cancel the exams😐

Multi vibrator me ky vibrate krta h
Iska use kha hota h plz reply me
In multivibrator, the output is changing between the two states ( two voltage levels). It is used in the design of oscillator other timing related circuits. please check the description of the video. In the description, everything is mentioned.
@@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS thank you
It's not explained what makes a state unstable or stable.
Unstable means?
What happens in that state
Unstable means it's not the steady state output of the circuit. Under steady state, the circuit will operate in stable state. But due to external trigger, the circuit will come out of steady state or circuit becomes unstable. So it is called unstable state of the circuit.
What is a trigger?
It is very short duration pulse, which can be used for triggering some event. (Change of logic level state, or start some controlling action)
@@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS it is provided externally na

Could you help me to solve these two questions
. Design a monostable multivibrator circult that has a pulse width of 100 ms and a normally on load.
Draw the output waveform of the circuit for a single input pulse with width of 250 ms.
12. Design an astable multivibrator circuit that has a period of 1 ms, a duty cycle of 1/3 and a normally off
load.
