  • The SARS-CoV-2 IgG ELISA Kit is a 96-well assay for the qualitative detection of human IgG antibodies in serum/plasma to the nucleocapsid protein (NP) of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
During the coronavirus pandemic, the BNITM conducted a SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence study in three African countries. The ELISA diagnostics available at the time for antibody detection were not suitable for use in Africa (PMID: 33666297). At the BNITM, the Diagnostic Development Laboratory (now Panadea Diagnostics GmbH) developed a sensitive and specific detection method and filmed a video protocol for its implementation, as it was not currently possible to train the laboratory staff on site. The study was successfully conducted using the newly developed test (PMID: 34921091, 36064368). The study was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) as part of the 'Concept for the development of diagnostics for SARS-CoV-2 in sub-Saharan Africa' (FKZ 2520COR001).
