Santa Rosa Festival 2023

The Santa Rosa Festival continued on Friday with the Lighting of the Santa Rosa RC Church Park and a mini concert featuring parang and steelpan at Woodford Street in Arima.
The Santa Rosa Festival pays tribute to the First Peoples of the New World, and highlights key aspects of their culture.
Chief of the Santa Rosa First People's Community, Ricardo Bharath-Hernandez, shared that the lighting was a custom performed many years ago, but dwindled as the years went by.
The First People's community is hoping to return it to its former glory. He said the light represents the light of Christ.
At the end of the bamboo lighting, participants were treated to some steelpan music courtesy the "Pan On The Move Steel Orchestra."
