  • This gargantuan building was built by an Austrian entrepreneur, Mr. Jakob Ludwig Münz. He was the owner of a large stone quarry, a brick factory, he built many tram lines in the country, owned a power plant and many other buildings in Croatia including the Grand Hotel in Pula, he was one wealthy individual.
He built his family's 10 bedroom, 1200 square meter mansion in 1903 and lived in it for 27 years before he died in 1930.
The mansion became an old folks home shortly after his passing and survived world war 2 completely undamaged. It was then nationalized in1948 with a payment of 12 railway box cars to the Munz family in payment to become a children's sanatorium then like most mansions in Croatia it became a refuge for citizens during the Yugoslav wars in the 90s and has been abandoned since.
