We really enjoy your channel! My wife is a freelance writer and photographer. I’m a retired 39 year Texas law enforcement officer. She started learning to do video and has put together a new RUclips channel about gardening and cooking at our home. I’m learning to be the camera man. We just sold our fifth wheel and ordered a new truck camper so we could learn more about dispersed camping. You’re so right! This is the year for experiencing and learning new things! Safe travels and May God bless you all!
I promised myself to start overlanding more with my Discovery..and i did. We really really enjoyed get out!! Love your channel...you give people inspiration to drive change..thank you!
Just purchased my roof top tent ⛺️ I will be learning how to really camp. Bringing my 10 y/o with me to discover nature and the beauty of this great place we call home - Vermont, the Green Mountain State. Next year… Utah to Colorado. Thanks for ALL you do and share. My son is SO looking forward to learning on the road. He keeps asking me “Dad, when can we do that like EFRT?!?!”
I decided that at the ripe old age of 66 I would learn how to ski. I moved to Colorado, bought skis, bought boots, bought helmet, then.... COVID shut all the resorts down! This year I finally got my chance and after taking a lesson, I ventured out on the slopes to attempt to ski. I have to say it has been a challenge and a few times I was ready to give it up but I started to get the hang of it at the end of the season and I am looking forward to next season.
This part of the U.S.A. I saw through the windshield of a tractor-trailer during my International long-haul days. Even though I never had time to pull over and really take it ALL in... I feel blessed having seen what I have. Soon, I'll be retired... the wife & I have decided to invest in a truck mounted camper and re-discover Canada... your way!!
I have learned (or currently learning) 3 things this year: 1. I have learned how to upload and edit my own RUclips channel and videos (though that is a work in progress LOL). Thanks to your family's inspiration and your wonderful content that gave me the motivation. 2. I just learned (with this video) that your husband is a "folk song rock star"! :) 3. Last but not least, I have learned that your son's now make one of my favorite channels on RUclips! :)
Fly fishing can absolutely put you into another world!! It's can be Magical to stand in the river with snow on ground and big flakes hitting the water and casting a fly. You will never forget the first fish hooked and you will never regret picking up a fly rod and trying it out!!
I have been fly fishing 30 years and still don't think I have mastered the craft. You guys did great for your first outing and you probably understand like I do how relaxing and enjoyable it can be. It seems like the modern world fades away while you are fly fishing and it is just you and the river waiting for that moment when a fish may rise and take the fly. Love your videos. @flyfisher530.
you guys are living wonderful life.... may you keep living your dream forever... god bless you all, and thanks for sharing the experience with the world ...
Found your channel last weekend and watched Season 6 ep 7. I have since watched 29 more of your videos. Love the channel! Thanks for showing that its not all beautiful vistas and sunsets. Safe travels.
I've always wanted to learn to fly fish too! Recently, I found a fly fishing reel in a storage we cleaned out due to the passing of the father of my kids after heart issues. Sad, but he is out of pain and I know he would want me to use the reel as he loved fishing. So this year, I'm going to learn!!
Like backpacking I've been learning what I actually use on my overland camping trips. Each trip out I find out what is absolutely essential and what gear could help in certain situations. A cargo van has limited space just like any other vehicle. If I can get my backpacking base weight down to ten to twelve pounds and be safe and comfortable, I'm sure I can do the same with my weight (and space) situation in the van. In two months I leave my bricks and mortar home and begin my journey that I've dreamed about for 34 years since retiring from the Air Force.
Ah man we need to get out to Yellowstone! The worlds largest super volcano definitely knows how to show off geology at its best. The fly fishing is where I would be! Been taking the kids trout fishing in the world renowned little red river lately but would love to get them into flies! 🎣 Also, is that a Martin Backpacker guitar? Lexi would love one!!!
Great video I’m missing Yellowstone big-time 😂 looks like some fantastic weather that was really cool the guy spent a lot of time with you guys show me what to do what not to do on the fly fishing. Some thing I’ve learned new this year how to epoxy wood projects ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
As always great video. Love the fly fishing. Learning to tie my own flys was a big thing for me. The one thing I want to learn this year is more about geology so I can be a better prospector in BC Canada. Love getting the pan out and dipping it in the rivers. So peaceful, just like fly fishing in the rivers.... always looking forward to the next adventure.
for casting with a fly rod when you are starting out dont use any wrist motion and keep your bicep tight against your torso to limit the whipping of the line and overdoing it with the casting all of the motion can be done with just the elbow. also a good rule of thumb is imagine the rod was a needle on the clock dont bring it past 2 for the rearward motion. none of these are hard fast rules because some situations you will have to change how you cast to get the fly in the right spot or cast around a certain bush or tree but its a good starting point
@@EFRT good luck with the fishing! hope to see you guys out exploring the desert southwest again when the temperature drops to a more comfortable level
Happy 4th of July weekend! This year, now that I am an empty nester, I am learning who I am. Experiences and adventures await. Fly Fishing is on the agenda for sure.
Great video, that is a good idea to be thinking of what to learn, not only for this year but ongoing. Seeing that backpacker Martin guitar reminded me I have one and need to get it out to take on trips and play around the fire. BTW, I have been racking my brain on what song your husband was playing?
I knew I had seen a video of you in Yellowstone's Montana especially since it's been flooding there and you had been there before returning to your island. Roads and some homes have been swept away.
I don‘t expect an answer from you guys, but if so: How do you deal with the new filming regulations in the NP in US? Would be great to hear your thoughts. Greetings from Germany. Dirk
Hi there. Thanks for watching in Germany 🇩🇪. We certainly don’t like the new regulations, but have to do more research before we know how we’re going to handle it. We will talk to some of our RUclips friends in the USA and see what they are doing. .
Hey guys, great content. I’m somewhat new to overlanding and did a cage surrounding the Jeep but taking it off this week. (Too noisy!) I was going to go with the rhino back bone but add 4 bars instead for a basket in front but then I see what you guys have. What’s this rack? How’s it for storage and what’s your suggestion? I have the I kamper mini on the rear and need storage for the front. (As mentioned hence a 4th bar) I like your set up and just wanna do this right. Thanks!
I can see why ( people ) get hooked to fly fishing , not to mention the 🎣 itself ! 🤷🏻♂️ 😂 Thanks for Sharing This Awesome Adventure with us , we Truly Enjoyed it , Until The Next Time ! GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS Happy 4th of July 🙏🏼♥️🤍💙🙏🏼
I love watching all of your videos! I am finally going to Yellowstone in August for my birthday. Were you guys able to do most of Yellowstone on dirt roads? I saw that you did some of the grand loop. People have been telling me that the crowds will be ridiculous in August, So we were hoping to stay off road as much as possible. Thanks for any help.

Good night, once again and as always, the great video. I have a question for you, I would appreciate it if you answered it. By any chance, have you weighed any of the Jeep? In running order, full tanks, full drawers, with all the necessary material ... how much does it weigh? Greetings from Spain.

Absolutely love the deep family love!!
Love traveling along with your amazing family. Thank you for sharing your blessings.
Thanks for watching! Have a wonderful day!
Epic, throw that fly line up river first! Whip/loop the trailing line, back up river. Hit the holes behind the rocks. "I got a RAINBOW man!" Cheers!
This year I learned how to off-road in my 2021 Jeep Gladiator.
another amazing trip, thanks

Excellent video. I’m learning more about my engine 3.6 like most. It’s the heartbeat so I’ve always been afraid to touch it.
So peaceful and beautifl! The stars had to be amazing!! Thanks from Dennis "You should have at least a million subs."
Can’t wait to get back up there later this month! And work on getting better at fly fishing.
Living the dream! I didn’t get a chance to try fly fishing in Yellowstone the other week but there’s still time on this trip to try it out. Enjoy!

It came to me now playing it back a time or two - Danny Boy. A nice song around the campfire!
great place
Really enjoying this series 👌
I've wanted to learn how to fish. As a kid I went to The Fresh Air fund, one family I stayed with used to fish. They tried to teach me.
I knew I had seen a video of you in Yellowstone's Montana especially since it's been flooding there and you had been there before returning to your island. Roads and some homes have been swept away.

For fly fishing, the river needs to run slow, not fast-moving.
