Jenni Thank you for your excellent and interesting review of the QM2. I am 74 and my wife and I have made 4 Crossings (the last one just 8 weeks ago) on this only operating Ocean Liner (hopefully NOT the last). So it was good to hear the perspective of a much younger generation. Congratulations on getting that upgrade. Cunard upgrades have always been rare and since they went to bidding on upgrades, about 2 years ago, they have been exceedingly rare. Yes, the QM2 can be a difficult ship to navigate. Even after 4 voyages we still sometimes struggle with the forward area around the Royal Court Theater and Illuminations but that has also lead to some wonderful discoveries of various nooks and crannies. I was surprised to hear your comments about the small portion sizes in the Britannia Main Dining Room. Despite your beautiful accent I'm wondering if you aren't actually an American from Texas. We have always found the portion sizes to be appropriate and with an appetizer course (4-5 options), soup course (2-3 options), salad course, (2 options), main course (4-6 options plus side dishes), a cheese course and a desert course (4-6 options) each night and you can always order either steak, salmon, chicken or vegan "off-menu". We have never left hungry. However, you are right and it is surprising that the buffet is closed from 9:30PM (not 9:00) till 11:00PM. I applaud your decision to not eat alone. Our modus operandi has generally been to request a table for 6-8. We have met and enjoyed the company of many amazing individuals over the years. I think my biggest takeaway from your RUclips video is how different a short 2-day cruise (even 2 back-to-back) from the normal 8-day/7-night Crossing. Evidently, so much gets ramped up for a Crossings. The shows range from musical extravaganzas to world renown entertainers. The daily program typically lists 60 to 80 activities including fencing classes, water color classes, dance classes, bridge lessons and tournaments, wine tastings and various sports contests. There is also the Insights program with 4-6 lectures daily by people who are truly tops in their field. These are individuals that we would otherwise never get to meet and know. It sounds like you chose to spend a large amount of your time working. Maybe your experience with Cunard is more a reflection of your choices. If, as you say, your goal is to "help as many people as possible to make the most of their cruises", then you can't really do that by not allowing the QM2 to show you her real colors. I would suggest giving the QM2 another try, this time on a Crossing. Thanks for this opportunity to comment. Jack
After 27 years at sea in the merchant marine I thought I would have no desire to go back. This pretty English lass has changed my mind. Perhaps it would be nice to go out on a ship where I no longer have to work my passage. Beautiful ship. A true classic of past more elegant times. Great video. Thank you.
QM2 is the most spectacular ship. She rides through the North Atlantic better than any other ship I’ve been on. She’s not too posh for you, but she certainly does make you feel posh.
Amused this vid was suggested to me today, I just came off Queen Mary 2 yesterday! (first time onboard too!) Your cabin experience was identical to mines, booked inside, moved to a sheltered balcony at no cost! also as well the welcome document was also in German! Totally loved the ship and felt it was a really good experience, very relaxed and it was also a good mix of ages, from young mid to old. Nice surprise was guest speaker with Q&A was actor James Nesbitt! and also found the quality of musical performers was top level professional quality, totally blew away who Carnival UK employed on P&O Azura when I was on her in September! Was also worried about the smart attire dress code as thats new to me, but realised it sort of felt like Marellas dress to impress, so all quite relaxed as long as its neat!
Gotta giggle I keep bumping into you online Fraser! (ive commented on my other ID Beardoin) so Musica good, Azura good, and QM2, epic nice! loved the ship so much!
Found your video interesting. Last year we took our first cruise and it was on QE just before Christmas and we loved it. We chose it because we wanted a cruise line that had a Lovely library, Deck games, quizzes, housie, a gentler pace, the Art Deco everywhere, the chance to dress up for meals, talks and shows and music and flowers everywhere and we were lucky enough to also have Christmas decorations everywhere as well. We were so busy that we didn't have enough time to do everything and so we are booked again on QE just before Christmas this year. There was also the advantage of no water slides, zip lines, etc that bring in the children, teenagers and young adults who often are not very well behaved on other lines. As you said different cruise lines for different people. Hope one day to travel on Queen Mary, Queen Victoria or Queen Anne as well.
Sailed back from NY on QM2 and I was worried about the poshness and oldness of people. We actually started a facebook group for people on the cruise before we went. over 100 people joined and when on board it was lovely to have people to meet up with and nod too in passing. It looks posh and I did dress up but you can at any point just go to the buffet. Also you never went to the pub ? there was great folk group on our voyage and we shut down the night club most nights. We loved it so much were doing it again in November.
Great video. I love the QM2, been on three times, and am back on in February. Just for future reference, in the morning you can get food from the Sir Samuels coffee shop. They have very nice pastries and muffins, all complimentary :)
I was always fearful of a Cunard transatlantic. I would take this for the relaxation and library alone , but it has to be seven days. It’s beginning to look like Cunard is in my future soon. Well done.
Great thoughts and observations in your video. Thanks. next time you find a £99 deal please let me know recently retired and cruising is a new hobby 😂😂
HEY Jenni, THANK you for your wonderful review. I will be on QM2 this October for a double Transatlantic crossing in a balcony stateroom. I was on Queen Victoria last January for four nights to Hamburg and THAT ship was big. I felt like a little church mouse constantly lost. THIS time I am sure to get perpetually lost - haaaah. SO glad you enjoyed Cunard. There's NOTHING like it in the world. THE ONLY Ocean Liner!!! xx
Thanks a lot for you impressions and thoughts! I have never been on a cruise myself but I am actually planning to finally make this a reality soon. And I definitely wanna do this on the Queen Mary 2, since she is the only real Ocean Liner left in service. I wanna go from Hamburg to South Hampton to New York. Just a historic and classic route. Myself I am only in my 30s, so probably on the younger side then, but don't care :) Don't wanna go on the cruise for party, but for the experience and just enjoy the journey. By the way, free room servide? Go Cunard! :D Thats just awesome. Really excitied already, thanks for sharing!
Very informative. Queen Mary 2 is a beautiful Liner. My Grandmother in the early 50s regularly sailed to New York aboard the Queen Elizabeth to visit her daughter/my aunt. Personally I think you fitted well aboard such a grand ship as Posh people in the UK only account for 2% of the populous, others are simply successful business men and women. I've been fortunate to have been cruising for 52yrs and still to this day get excited about boarding a ship. Well done enjoyed the footage 😊
I made my first transatlantic crossing last September, before the refit. I'm not big on flying. I thought it was wonderful, although at age 63 I felt young.
i love Cunard i am on Queen Anne in 16 days and have QM 2 booked for next march. went on the Queen Elizabeth back 2021. loved your review it was very honest and not nit picky alot of the vids i have watched has them nit picking at things that do not really matter
Thanks for this video. It was interesting to hear your thoughts. What a great deal you had! Well worth the cabin move 😁 It was good to see you on board. Sorry if we disrupted your workflow! 😂
I agree with your assessment--different cruise lines cater to different clientele, and there are some lines that I would be perfectly miserable on. Good for you for checking out another option, even if you concluded it's not your first choice for future cruises. And despite that, it sounds like you had a great time anyway--good for you!
Well, I can’t believe you got cruising on the QM2 for £99. Was that per night? I haven’t sailed on that grand lady for over 12 years now but I absolutely loved her and you soon get the hang of getting around her. I’ve just sent you my email address so please, please, please let me know if you ever come across such an offer again.
I believe the word POSH stands for Port Out Starboard Home, from White Star line when they sailed to Africa from England, only the rich could pick the best cabins...but i might be wrong.
I'm hoping to book for the September crossing to Quebec, to visit my son. I wanted to take my dog but she's bigger than the allowed measurements and I am totally gutted. So if I can bear to put her in kennels, I'll go. I really enjoyed your video, you're pleasant to watch (some of the other youtubers are irritating, but you're nice) thanks :o)
I took my Father in Law (90) on the 10 day from NY to Hamburg Germany. I give it a mixed review; OK, but should never be compared to a ocean cruise ship. Cost was reasonable, design is dated, maintenance was ongoing during the cruise (even in our balcony twice!). Ship layout did not flow very well. Elevators were very slow. Food was not good, many selections which looked appetizing but weren't). Entertainment was average. Activities were numerous, repetitive & not things I (60) cared to participate in. Cabin & service was adequate, but we could have done without the painting of our balcony (strong & awful smell) & smoke alarm installation (both while we were in our room). In summary, QM2 was just not our cup of tea.
10 out of 10 for a Cunard buffet??? 🤣 Has this been your first ever cruise? Cunard buffets are terrible compared to what other premium cruise lines have on offer... Check out Ben and David for a REAL review...
Really disappointed with QM2. Bathrooms and cabins very dated. Shower curtain nasty and unhygienic. So needs updating. We prefer Viking, Celebrity, Regent etc
Comparing Cunard to Viking and Regent is probably a bit of an unfair comparison…and , I know you can always say you don’t like a shower curtain…which I think everyone would agree with .
Cruise MUMMY: Do you not feel that you are entitled to have people with white gloves serve you? Do you not respect time-honoured tradition of dressing for dinner? Are you too POSH for excepting an upgrade? You know that your place in society is dictated by your birth? Pish-Posh Luv! Cruise another cruiseline. If you have a feeling that you are more common than you feel then do not cruise Cunard! This type of cruise exists for people that enjoy the finer things within their life. Please don’t poo-poo this for others. I do understand that you are running a business upon your opinions/social media/website/youtube, etc.. I have joined you on your email as you have helped me locate ship for sale this year. At the end you have concluded that Cunard is not for you. Honestly I could have suggested this with the first ten words out of your mouth. Glad that you can at the very least know your self-imposed limitations. And your style of chatting, instead of telling us, is refreshing to watch. 😊

Great to see you on Cunard! I was so impressed when I cruised on QM2 back in December - she was fresh out of refit, and I thought she was a beauty!
Gotta giggle I keep bumping into you online Fraser! (ive commented on my other ID Beardoin) so Musica good, Azura good, and QM2, epic nice! loved the ship so much!

Sounds perfect for you. I love that you loved it.
We sail 12/3 on the Transatlantic to London-so close to Christmas- it should be magical!❤
POSH means Port Out, Starboard Home and refers to preferred rooms on the old sailing boats.

QM2 is the only way that I like to cross the Atlantic. I use her for transportation as I detest flying.
I was always fearful of a Cunard transatlantic. I would take this for the relaxation and library alone , but it has to be seven days. It’s beginning to look like Cunard is in my future soon. Well done.

What is wrong with Posh? Posh is good and something to aim for no matter what or how. Posh is not about money or social position.
But it’s if you feel comfortable

Lovely to see you on my favourite ship qm2. I also saw you on apex last week. How fun was the silent disco??
It was! Always love a silent disco
Your cruise sounded wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
i love Cunard i am on Queen Anne in 16 days and have QM 2 booked for next march. went on the Queen Elizabeth back 2021. loved your review it was very honest and not nit picky alot of the vids i have watched has them nit picking at things that do not really matter
I heard that 'posh' meant, port out starboard home. Probably bullmud though.
Did you have to bid on your upgrade?
Thanks for this video. It was interesting to hear your thoughts. What a great deal you had! Well worth the cabin move 😁 It was good to see you on board. Sorry if we disrupted your workflow! 😂
So lovely to bump into you. I'm looking forward to seeing your video too.
@cruisemummy We are behind on editing, so it will be near the end of June when our first QM2 one pops up. Until then, we have Ambassador content.
@@TravellingLightLisa I'll be sure to watch that as I'm on Ambition next week
I would love it to be super posh. My mother have just returned from a cruise with MSC Orchestra. She was not pleased at all. It felt very budget.
thats the cabin you want right next to the life boats

Love QM2. so much to do or just to relax and read in elegance.
I think this is my style of cruise. Please let me know if you get that offer again. Thank you.
Go on merrella then. If you like engine noise.
Surprised they didn’t confiscate the heated brush.

Were you actually on the ship? Why are there no videos of it?
Do you get the train from Manchester to Southampton? Cunard are my favourite ❤
I live in Bristol now so I got the train from there. There aren't many trains from Manchester, I would probably get a coach from there.
Cunard offer free coach travel from local pick-up points. Book coach at same time as booking cruise.
Love your videos you’re so funny! 😂 Not sure if Cunard is for us, so worried as we are mere peasants!
😂😂😂 thanks
Enjoyed the video.
Thanks!
How old are you love ? 😃
£99...how?!! (Signing up)

I love illiteracy ... the word is ACCEPTING an upgrade. Such a condescending comment. Leave her alone. You must think you're gods gift for women.
True that 😊
'Accepting' not 'excepting', you pleb 🤦🏻♂️
