    As someone who frequents amusement parks and carnivals, the ticket base system is a carnival thing. They don't do that at amusement parks, meaning this is a CARNIVAL with Cedar Point style rides. If this show was realistic, it would end with Buster and Arthur getting injured on the Hurl-la Wirl

    • @madokami03
      @madokami03 8 месяцев назад +3

      I was gonna add this. Any carnival style fun fair you go to usually charges a certain amount of tickets per person to ride, and you usually buy your tickets in packs when you enter the park

    • @snowballthepro2926
      @snowballthepro2926 8 месяцев назад +5

      @@madokami03 Exactly, the issue is the ride itself. The Hurl-la wirl is an independently controlled tilt and swirl ride on a large base. The carnivals I've gone to have had carrousels where if you put your foot down while riding your leg will get torn right off! So a ride like this operating at a ticket carnival would result in Arthur and Buster getting launched faster than D.W launching responsibility away from her.

    I got more episodes you could do FU DW on I haven't seen yet. Keep up the great work sir.
    If you remember that episode where DW wouldn't shut the hell up about vanilla sauce and Sue Ellen was addicted to playing Virtual Goose, I think that would be a perfect one to do at some point.
    That episode where DW learns that James split his pants and has a hard time keeping a secret from what i remember.
    Any episode with DW and the Vecino family. She's always using the little sister of Alberto's as a scapegoat constantly and they are insufferable together imo. She even got so passive aggressive towards Vecita that she told her that what she was doing wasn't flips and then had the nerve to walk out on her and go home. Basically rage quitting because someone could do everything DW couldn't and much better.
    Dear Adil wasn't as DW heavy, but damn, that ending with DW singing the Mary Moo Cow theme song in Turkish never left my mind. Adil's equivalent of DW was in that episode too.
    Just to name a few.

    In a later season, there’s episode that Pal and Kate can somehow see and speak to DW’s Imaginary Friend Nadine. Nadine introduces Pal and Kate to 2 other imaginary friends belonging to the neighbor Vacita and the Tibbles. Nadine states the world of Imaginary Friends is in trouble and they seek the help of a Baby and a Dog. They end up knocking something over and save the world of Imaginary friends.

    I just had the sudden realization that Nadine was like a bizarro version of Drop Dead Fred in how she's characterized vs DW. I remember I was assigned all the scenes with the rotating carousel to animate, which is like the hardest thing in the world to animate and took me over a month to get it approved! It's very common for writers of children's shows to take experiences from their own childhoods and not even realize they need updating because they haven't experienced those things since they were children themselves. Flat-rate gate admissions were less common in earlier times. Disney parks didn't do away with tickets until 1982, so that EPCOT Center never had a ticket system. Given that Arthur aired in 1996, the childhoods of the people involved in this decision were in the 70s at the latest, much more likely to remember amusement parks as ride ticket affairs. Another possible explanation is little experience with amusement parks but lots of experience with rides at midways and boardwalks, which by their nature need to operate on a tickets/points/pay-per-ride system.

    I thought D.W.’s imaginary friend episode was wonderful. Sure has some moments DW being on likable with showing her friends tours of her brother Arthur’s room his privacy against as well and dumping pasta dinner on his head by her, showing her perspective her imaginary friend is cute and adorable and relatable to everyone who has imaginary friend from their childhood, which inspired many adaptations like the upcoming IFF movie coming out in 2024 May Foster home for imaginary friends, bing bong inside out, and so on. So FU Arthur for for acting like an unlikable jerk and trying to make TW forget the best friend she ever made, and of course, for ruining his dinner, and invade his privacy, and make him the butt monkey of the episode, FU D.W.

    But wait, wasn’t there one episode where they showed that Nadine was real, but only the baby and the dog could see her??
    It definitely seems that way since Nadine always seems more like the more mature/aware of the two. How could an imaginary friend be smarter than you yourself if they’re really imaginary?

    • @SnowyWolborg
      @SnowyWolborg Месяц назад +1

      Probably because Nadine represents the part of DW's subconscious that she is not emotionally mature enough to act on. If there was any justice in the world, the DW personality would eventually fade away and be replaced with Nadine's.

  • @OmnicidalClown1992

    To be fair though, there are other characters that remain stagnant, despite the fact that the show has been on for about 25 years. Muffy Crosswire anyone?
    True, there are characters that do show change, like the majority of the bullies like Binky, Molly and Rattles, but Muffy is that one character that somehow manages to maintain her spoiled and self-centered nature, despite the fact that she's said that she's a changed person.

    DW blaming Nadine for her shenanigans reminded me of a clip from America's Funniest Home Videos where a little girl was blaming her big brother for her shenanigans. The thing is the girl doesn't have a big brother!

  • @ninesevenpotatoes

    You know whats worse? Nadine stays with DW as she grows to Arthurs age (assuming something like DWs Time Triuble happems), which implies she will continuously blame her problems on her.

    One thing I didn’t pay attention to as a kid but don't understand as an adult is why are all the kids in the episode so excited about barf bags? Buster even kisses his before throwing it away. Gross! Was that a big thing in the mid-90s? Did kids back then actually like throwing up?

    • @offmodel
      @offmodel 8 месяцев назад +2

      yeah, those barf bags! the 90's were full of gross out humor stemming from Ren and Stimpy which was a huge hit then so we thought that's what the kids wanted to see. I remember I put in a 'barf wipe' once where DW barfs all over the camera! Man, those were the days!

    Who do you think has a worse problem with their split personality? D.W. with Nadine or George with Wally? Also, I get the feeling the meatballs were supposed to be the same color as their tongues. Their white, white, early episode tongues. That ALWAYS disturbed me.

    • @99thJediWarrior
      @99thJediWarrior 8 месяцев назад

      George is generally a good kid. Keep in mind that his character wasn't even developed in the first season of Arthur. For the most part, he was just that kid who got bullied by Binky a lot. And for the most part with Wally, he came out of his shell more. Only reason he has Wally is cause he isn't out of his shell entirely.

    God the more I look back on this show, the more I really want to smack Arthur's parents for letting DW get away with her bullshit. I get she was only like 4 or 5, but her parents really needed to let her know that the stuff she'd pull wasn't okay. Out of their two kids, it's very clear how they preferred her more over Arthur.
    I really wouldn't be surprised if they just wanted a girl this whole time and DW ended up being the successful result

    I sometimes forget that the scene where David "steps on Nadine's tail" was also used for the song "Leftovers Ghoulash" near the end of the third season (Season 3 Episode 14B more specifically). It is indeed fascinating how Wonderworld, a fixed-location amusement park uses tickets (or possibly bracelets usually akin to travelling fixtures found in carnival and county/state fair settings), instead of a front gate-admission procedure. In the entire series, it is only ever seen "in person" four other times, as well as on one of Thora's old films reels. But I'm definitely looking forward to next week's episode...
