The pillowing issue is a problem when printing large flat areas with higher temperature materials, even something modest like PETG, I just tweaked the profile and raised the fan speed.
My fail was starting a print with "I think I have enough prusament lipstick red". And no I didn't. I started it last weekend. I knew it was low. I used my $50 voucher for the MMU3 delays. Becuase of shipping it was like buy one get one free, but it took like 2 weeks to get it. So I did order it ahead of time. It just took a while to get it. The print was supposed to finish on sunday morning. I only just got the filament in about an hour ago (when I got home from work and finished eating lunch). It has 4 hours to go. Ironically......while it did run out of red, the issue was that it couldn't eject the filament. It hadn't been triggered yet because it didn't quite use enough. I installed the super short tubes in backwards because it's easier to load. I learned this from the MMU2. However......it also means it's harder to eject low filament. So after replacing the red......it took in the nude first, then the silk white, then the brown, then the nude, then the silk white, then finally the red. It took like 10 minutes to get back to it.
I'll put in a vote for a filament dryer comparison. Plenty of channels have done them, but I'd like to see how the PolyDryer stacks up against the main competition. I know my Sovol dryer is only really good to dry PLA (or maintain dryness in a filament dried elsewhere) and recent testing on the food dehydrator I mangled into a dryer shows it works only at 67˚C (which is why the PLA I put in there the first time I used it ended up fusing to itself on the spool), so a new dryer is on the list for me.
Discussion of the repairability of Bambu printers is certainly interesting...Michael from Teaching Tech, whose channel I adore and not just because of occasional gratuitous goat footage (as part of backyard printing projects), just released a video about how easy or hard it is to make various A1-series, X1-series, and P1-series repairs and maintenance tasks (including the A1 bed replacement). Aside from replacing the part cooling fan on the A1/A1 Mini, which was drastically harder than it had to be due to how the cable to the part cooling fan is routed, he rated their products generally easy to fix...while leaving out things like dealing with Blobs of Doom, dealing with X1/P1 bed problems, and perhaps most importantly replacing the carbon fiber gantry assembly in the X1. He did at least make mention of how some parts are unfortunately bundled together rather than sold separately, though there was a great missed opportunity to talk about how Bambu designs its machines to be ultimately disposable for the bulk of its intended target market.
And Nomad should 100% replace his A1 even if he's inspected the shoddily-designed bed cable and decided it looks fine. Not just because he's not a certified electrician, but because there are so many interesting printers out on the market right now. While doing a little research earlier today for what I hope ends up being a new 3D printer at work, I was reminded that FLSun exists and was fairly blown away by their S1...it has a claimed max speed of 1,200 mm/s (hard to believe but it is a Klipperized delta machine) with an integral dry box in a useful location, a hot end rated to push 110 cubic mm of plastic per second, a dual-zone 120˚C heated bed (with a 320 mm ø by 430 mm print volume), automatic Z-offset calibration, and a gorgeously sleek enclosed frame. Yes, it's $1,500, weighs as much as a supermodel, and is probably chock full of proprietary parts. Yes, I have a powerful desire for my next printer to be an IDEX machine, especially at that price point. Still...we wants it. [/Gollum]
A1 blob issue can be caused by a plate that needs cleaning. That was my issue. part broke loose and followed the nozzle. Saw this when I checked the print. I also HIGHLY suggest using one of the "paint on" silicone coatings for nozzles. Has really helped with this issue. Did not have to go to extreme heat to remove (also coated the bottom of the sock).
probably, yes.
Be careful with those paint on coatings, often they are pretty nasty chemicals.
@@3DMusketeers printers sit in their own ventilated rooms. Plus the very minimal amount it takes on the metal nozzle (probably about 3 drops) means the fumes from curing go away vary quickly
With the Bambu Lab A1 recall, whether or not it's legal for consumers to repair it, the CPSC still needs to be involved in the USA as it is a defective product.
indeed!!
I believe if the loadcell in my mk4 failed, I could replace it in 15-20 minutes. I do believe I'd have to replace the whole heatsync.
One of the few things I love about Pennsylvania, you don't need to be licensed to be an electrician. Kinda dumb, I know, but I did go to school for HVAC and did a ton of electrical work. That's why I am STILL waiting for the new bed. Lol
The second thing is open carry. Lol
You also should be keeping your eye on the A1 Assistant it gives you the answer to problems that will affect your print. When the eyes have red crosses you need to do some maintenance.
absolutely hands down my favorite dryer is the sunlu s4 quad dryer. I use it with my mmu3. No buffer required. The fix dry dual slot is my 2nd favorite. I have 3 sovol dual slots. They only go to 50 and have a limited timer. There is almost no reason to use them anymore now that I have dual sunlu s4's. lol
Yes please for the filament dryer video!
2:24 I have 1 pandajet and it improve the cooling by a crap-ton
Great vid 👌
Thanks
Good info.
thanks
My Bambu P1P is just over 3 months old. It has been down for almost 2 months, Several HMS errors , Bambu has been Extremely limited in helping. I finally just started replacing random parts and in the end got it to work...After $230 worth of parts
Oof 😢
May be best to ask for a return, the warranty should be covering these parts for you as well.
the SE is not klipper. I recommend the KE. The null seems pointless. I haven't formed an opinion on the v3 plus yet. It might just boil down to can you get a printer in that size that's fully automatic for that price?
Bambu X1C Force Sensor 2 failure, and the dang wire. yep.
Cute dog in the background
-_-
That's exactly what I thought until I realized it was a puss!
Hiya Grant,
Thank you for an other highlight of my Friday, however I did not watched this on a Friday 🥰.
To me it is shocking that Bambu doesn't learn. You are the source of the A1 recall updates and Bampoo failed again to inform customers on their blog that they might not be eligible to DIY change the bed and still have option 2 active on their recall.
Do you have any info what countries are effected by the "rule" to have a certified technician to approve the bed change?
A friend of mine had a A1 and wanted to opt for option DIY bed change, but after talking to him he returned it and has now a Prusa MK4
🧡
I dont have a ton of info there, but they basically have to have a certified individual sign off on the changes
and yeah I was able to shove about 3" of extruded PETG out of my obxidean nozzle heated in the oven at 450 with an allen key. The problem is the allen key isn't 1.75mm. So while the allen key goes just after the heat break now, actual filament doesn't. I'm wondering if I should heat it up again, but this time put in PETG and let it cool. Then heat it up again and pull it out. The only drill bit I have that fits isn't long enough for a nextruder nozzle. It goes to the heat break (assuming I only use about 1mm to hold it in the drill with)
I have been dealing with a similar issue. I am looking at 1/16th inch Tig filler rod... Or the new whambam nozzle kit but shipping to Canada is expensive. I have gf nylon stuck in there.
@@eslmatt811 oh shit! I didn't know that existed! I might just buy that.
I mean it's half the cost of a nozzle, but I expect there to be an issue with this again eventually. LMAO
It is $20 in shipping to Canada... Or I would have gone that way.
The print on the corner is often talked about on slant 3d's design videos. He generally mentions it is not for bed slingers.
Which is dumb, just design it to print flat..
@@3DMusketeers outside of a print farm this should just be flat. Slant3D's recommendations are often for large farms with automatic part ejection, which would be difficult when printing flat
Works pretty well when you don't have a flat spot and run Deltas...LOL Definitely sketchy in this example!
Thats alot of it just works
Bambu, the Apple of 3D printers.
If the Bambu people want, I can retake the photo with an official build plate. Also used a different nozzle and that didn't change anything.
its fine lol
Chube is chubby tube 😂
Yes please on a filament dryer video.
any ones in particular you want to see?
@@3DMusketeers the new one from polymaker, naturally, versus the offerings from Sunlu and any others that might be good like entry level dryers. I'm interested in getting into TPU but I understand that it's super hygroscopic compared to other filaments.
@@3DMusketeers Hiya, maybe a comparison of filament dryer vs. food dehydrator, Serious request :)
You look sick bro, take some rest and orange juice.
Over work
how do I look sick??
@3D_Printing and underpaid LOL
@@3DMusketeers Maybe is the light or something else, but your face look like mine when I'm super stressed and/or sick: gray with dark around the eyes.
Have I learned my lesson on my A1 yet?
Nah.
-_- you, sir, are the reason we cannot have nice things.
@@3DMusketeers the words you're looking for is: menace to society
what does LSD hotend stand for?🤣😆🤣😆
Long Schlong Dong, at least in the sense of this conversation...
No, I am not kidding.
"i digress" indeed you should.
Why is that?
