    And your house is beautiful!! If you don't want to show the whole pantry dont, I sometimes worry about those that do. I don't even post pics of KY canning and preserving anymore because I either got a lot of nastiness or people were like "we're coming to your house"- I will always share...but sharing is on my terms, not yours! Looking forward to more content!

    Great haul. We love Azure and order so much from them. Just in case you have pets, any gum/food with Xylitol is deadly if they ingest even the smallest amount. I had ordered some keto cookies a few years ago and they arrived moldy so I threw in the trash. Our young Goldendoodle got the package and ate a three pack of the cookies. I had her at the vet within 20 minutes of ingestion and she was already in trouble. Thankfully she lived. Even a chewed piece of gum that has been spit out can kill a dog if they ingest.

There will be a lot of videos covering canning, dehydrating, homeschooling, recipes, cleaning and organizing the home, raising animals and so much more! :) Thank you for joining the channel and following along with this new adventure of ours!

    Our cheeses seem to last well over 2 months. Most of them have been stamped 6 months to a year. As long as it doesn't become cross contaminated from knife, board etc... you keep it in original wrap ( unless portioned and vacuum sealed) and try to keep it air tight...it literally lasts well over a few months.

I also switched from ice cream to sherbet because…well, I have no self-control with cold, sweet, dessert items so figured I’d better go to the “healthy” sherbet (still lack control, just results in fewer calories, sugar, fat going in). I just found you so starting with the first video, and you are a natural at this if this is your first video! I feel a sherbet fueled video binge in my future! 😂😂

    I need to locate a pear honey recipe. My grandma made it when I was little. It wasn’t like a pear preserve. It was thin sliced pieces of pear in a syrup type stuff but was a little thicker then syrup. If anyone has that recipe and reads this will you please share it. One of those things that went when grandma did. That woman was so knowledgeable and unfortunately when we lose those older ones we lose that wealth of knowledge. 😞
    On another note I would love it if you will do videos on your canning up stuff and share your recipes. I’m always looking for new stuff to try. We just moved to Florida and it is very different than growing and canning in Alaska lol.

      I agree, that generation had a wealth of knowledge. I have canning videos uploading at the moment. Just posted a pumpkin spice cookie recipe early this morning. I will be sharing many recipes on this channel. We moved to Colorado from Florida 8 years ago and yes gardening is so different! I do miss Florida for that reason though, it was easier than where we currently live. I hope you find that recipe and I will look into that too and see what I can find. ❤️

    New subscriber here. I wish I had your space! Our house is *so* teeny but we do have a back building that we're using for storage, except that it needs a LOT of work. I'm interested in a couple of things. New to a LOT of this stuff. I've ordered from Azure since May I think. Curious of how you're storing your wheat? And which grinder/mill you use? I'm on a very limited budget. (It would be a dream to order this much at once! Yet a nightmare trying to organize it all due to lack of space currently..lol) Currently trying to use what I have left of buckets/mylar bags, O2 absorbers. Can you give me more tips (besides: 'store in dark cool area') for the wheat? Looking forward to viewing a lot more of your videos!

    • @rockymountainhomesteadangela
      @rockymountainhomesteadangela  Год назад +1

      First off welcome and thank you! In our first home, we had three kids (with number 4 on the way) in a 2 bedroom house roughly 1100 square feet. You got to get creative with the space you have and I totally get that. Its a nightmare for me to put all this away, even with the space we have!
      The grinder I use is a Wondermill and it runs beautifully. I also have a hand mill for emergency use. There are much more affordable grinders but with how frequently I use mine (every other day) I wanted to be sure it could hold up to the usage it would get.
      My wheat I store in 5 gallon buckets with nothing fancy. Where we are in the Rockies it is dry, very low humidity or moisture and things store well "as is" because of that. I also cycle through my long term food storage, my wheat berries and my short term food storage. So nothing of mine is stored back and not touched. If you want to store wheat berries long term (25 years plus) then yes I would use a 5 gallon bucket with a gamma lid (if possible) , a mylar bag and a 2,000cc o2 absorber. Or for a smaller increment, wheat in a 1 gallon mylar bag with a 300 cc absorber. I will have a video up by this weekend going in depth on these topics!!
